It has been awhile, but I hope you find this worth the wait! If you’ve never made a button up shirt before, you’ll be ready to tackle some of the trickier elements of sewing a shirt like sleeve plackets and the burrito method and grow your sewing skills. :)
Thank you! A hint: get a can of temporary adhesive spray (used by machine embroiderers), spray the wrong side of the pocket. It will stick but once ironed, the adhesive properties disappear.
Your method for attaching cuffs from the wrong side works so much better than the instructions in the pattern. Thank you! First really good cuff I have sewn.
I really appreciate how you use a term and then give a definition as to what that term means. Thats such a small detail that makes a big difference. Thank you!
Thank you for another great video! I've sewn many button-up shirts, but your explanation and visual of the collar stand gave me an AHA moment that will make collars easier.
🥰🥰Thank you!! Sewing collars neatly has been challenging to me and I’ve been learning through great patterns/tutorials! Glad you found mine helpful in some ways!
Another great video, you never disappoint! Plackets are my nemesis but you made them look fairly straightforward. As always the shirt turned out really well and I hope your father enjoys wearing it. ❤
Oh my god. This is what I'm looking for! I've been trying to sew my own shirt but don't know where to start. Your video tutorial is really clear and easy to follow. Thank you so much
Thankyou Helen for your shirt making video, it thought me how to place the yoke now and have my shirt done after all this years trying. Your video is easy and beautiful.
Thank you. I am about to sew my first shirt with collar & stand so it is very helpful to watch you sew those elements. My pattern is different but the process is the same, and now the instructions make much more sense. I hope your Dad really loves his bespoke shirt.
You're welcome! I'm so glad that the video was helpful for you as you prepare to sew your own shirt with a collar and stand. Thank you for your well wishes for my dad's shirt - I hope he loves it too! Happy sewing!
The video was very helpful and sweet but I found the yoke part sewing it to the front part a little bit tricky! I eventually got it right after one failed attempt tho
I'm relieved that I noticed I had uploaded the low-quality 720p video and was able to quickly replace it with the correct one. Thank you for taking the time to come back and watch the updated version!
Thank you for your kind words, Sheryl! I'm so glad to hear my videos have been helpful and that you've learned a lot from them! I appreciated your support and encouragement!
Thank you! I'm so glad you like the fabric. It's so cozy and warm, perfect for spring and autumn weather. I hope the shirt inspires you to create something equally wonderful for yourself. Thank you for your lovely comment, Jolette!
Great Video, thank you! My ambition is to make a shirt. My first attempts to sew have been this week while on holiday at home. I started with six aprons .... so far so good! My ambition remains but I accept I have a lot to learn and will tread carefully towards my goal. Thank you for your inspiration and good luck with your continued career ... p.s. I am a man by the way!!
Thank you, for the tutorial. I thought I was doing my plackets wrong for this shirt but they did all turn out ok with just folding over. It was hard to see the wrong side on your fabric choice.
You're very welcome, and thank you for your feedback! I'm sorry that it was difficult to see the right and wrong side of the fabric in the video! While using a quilting weight cotton fabric might have made it easier to demonstrate the right and wrong sides in the video, I wanted to use this beautiful brushed cotton for my dad's shirt.
Love your videos! It's sometimes hard to follow along when both the right and wrong side of the fabric look the same. This plaid fabric has a tendency to look the same from each side.
I make an effort to steer clear of fabrics that might confuse the audience, but I do have a preference for working with yarn-dyed fabrics when creating garments. Unfortunately, this means that occasionally there might be some confusion. I apologize for any inconvenience caused, but I find this fabric particularly appealing and couldn’t resist using it.
Thank you so much! It's my hope that through my sewing tutorials and projects, I can provide a therapeutic and enjoyable experience for viewers. Thank you again for your kind words and support!
I was running through the internet to find just information on the cuffs and that was FAST there was no way to cuff up to what you were pointing to or what you were saying and I love your content! but that made things so confusing I just thought to say!

한국사람도 볼수있게 한국어로도 되어있음 잘 좋을거같습니다.

따라해보려니 도저히 그림만으론 따라가기 어려워서 포기하네요.

I really appreciate the little explanations under each word. Now I understand what things like stay stitch and understitch mean!

Terrific tutorial. I’ve never seen the technique of using twine to ease the sleeves and am eager to try it. Thanks.
You should try! It’s my favourite gathering method! ☺️

One day, when I feel like torturing myself, I'll attempt sewing a shirt.
😂😂😂
It’s not that bad though! 😂😂
@@SewingTherapy Nah, you are so talented🤝🏼.
Shirts are hard🥴. But I'll definitely try in the future.
Probably we need direct coaching. I think this is torturing too.
Many thanks for the Amazing demonstration 😊 😊 😊
Thank YOU for watching!
I think I can do this! :D Thank you for such a clear video.
You're so welcome!
Absolutely wonderful News ! Thank-you always !

😆😆👍👍
Thank you for this Video!!!

Can I use a serger to do the main body part?
It’s totally up to you. I always stitch first before serging to secure the seam. 😊

My pleasure 😊

How much seam allowance should I leave for the stay-stitch?
Ensure the stay stitch remains within your main stitches. Sew with a seam allowance of less than 3/8".
Thankyou
How can get the pattern draft of the shirt please?
It’s a commercial pattern from Helen’s Closet!
HOW much fabric do I need to buy to make this
Check out the fabric requirements on the instructions of this pattern. It depends on your size and the width of your fabric.
@@SewingTherapyok ,thanks ❤
I know this is supposed to be therapeutic but I’m stressing out in just trying to read the white letters over a white background! Ugh 😢
I will be more thoughtful!
So sweet❤😁
Thank you!
I thought i was ready 😭
Genial
Is this a specific pattern??
Yes, I used Cameron Shirt pattern from Helen’s Closet.
I was running through the internet to find just information on the cuffs and that was FAST there was no way to cuff up to what you were pointing to or what you were saying and I love your content! but that made things so confusing I just thought to say!
You can adjust the speed in the settings. ☺️
