    *When* it finally opens fully, 'Crossrail' or to give it it's other name 'The Elizabeth line' will take you direct into central London from LHR with a quick change at Farringdon to get to St Pancras. This should hopefully speed up tight connections that come about from the usual nonsense associated with flying.

  • @kahuna3901
    @kahuna3901 5 лет назад +4

    For pouring a pint, if it's coming out of the tap frothy, just be patient. But start the pour at nearly 90° angle. This will allow the liquid to loose it's carbonation by running down the surface of the glass. Do not move the glass quickly to the vertical, go as slow as necessary. If there is still foam, don't be afraid to keep pouring whilst the foam pours over the side. The key is to be patient. At least in these instances you don't have a customer waiting. The amount of times I worked rugby days whilst supporting my education, having an order of six Guinness is no joke, it can take a life time to pour.

    It isn't BA's fault that you had to pay £80 to change your train. Connections are at your own risk, and you could have booked a flexible ticket for the train. A train just 3 hours after your scheduled arrival time at LHR, bearing in mind how often flights are delayed in the aviation industry, and given the unpredictability of wait times at custom, immigration, baggage reclaim and then public transport all the way across London is cutting it fine anyway.

    • @noelphilips
      @noelphilips  5 лет назад +4

      Exactly what I said. Delays happen, 3 hours is usually more than enough, especially into T5, but in this case wasn’t.

    • @curious2travel
      @curious2travel 5 лет назад +1

      @@noelphilips Well we all have our own risk profile, but there is no way I'd book a non-flexible rail ticket from a station the other side of London just 3 hours after my planned arrival of my long haul flight.

    I have a BA business class flight from EWR to LHR in June and had high hopes for review of the substance of the BA business class experience. I know you filled up at the club room in Calgary, but it would have been nice to know what sort of standard meal was served on the flight, what the noise levels were, how well the attendants provided service, whether you had direct access to the aisle from your seat and so on. It certainly wasn't BA's fault that the landing was delayed, neither their fault that you booked your train so tightly, not allowing for the possible hour delay in takeoff from Calgary and the hour odd delay on the flight line in LHR before getting to the stand. Sorry, but there's room for improvement.

I’d rather drive than go by public transport and you don’t have that frustrating rush trying to make a connection, if there’s a delay with the plane. Of course that all depends on whether your wife needs the car to run the children about. How are they all? I saw them in the Air France video you did, a little while ago xx.

    It's always a pain trying to plan cheap advanced train tickets with flights. I had flight in February where it was on time so I had a two hour wait at St Pancras. Better than booking an earlier train and the flight being late.
    There's always open return tickets, but they're a rip off. My problem was that I only needed a single train journey back from the airport, and single open tickets are just as expensive as open returns. Double rip off. Hence my advanced booking for a discount single on a specific train

    I miss flying and hope next year we can get out and about again. I hate those seats - if you need to get up from the low flat position you have to try and wiggle down to where the ottoman is and then clamber over someone else's feet to say go to the bathroom, and because of the lack of storage you have to also rearrange all your stuff. Service is/was patchy.

    When entering LHR as a business class passenger, are you allowed in the faster TSA screening line? I can't remember what it's called. I was allowed when I flew first class but didn't know about business class. thank you

    Would liked to have heard more about the food and service. No dinner, 7 hours of sleep and what looked like breakfast didn’t tell me much about the Business service.

    Like most, am not a fan of their seating & not being able to see out of the window. It looks more cramped that BA Business Class. A, i right in thinking anyone can pay to use the club house? Will be interesting to see a comparison of the new Virgin Upper Class & the new BA Business Class when they are operational.

    Lesson, do not book tight connections. Better to be safe than sorry.

    For those that (unlike me...) use these Airport Lounges (like the ones used by Noel on his trips), are all food & drink, plus amenities like sleeping pods, etc... included? Sorry for my ignorance.

    How did you miss your train from st pancras? It is located within walking distance of both euston and King cross station.

      Maybe because he wasn't getting there from Euston or Kings Cross? Maybe because he was getting there from PADDINGTON which is not really within walking distance of St Pancras? Just a thought

      And they weren't allowed to park the plane at a stand for OVER AN HOUR after they landed, that might be another reason why he missed the train I would say

    How does it feel like to take off the "wrong" direction? In my experience, you get pushed back into your seat, so don't you get thrown out?

      It’s strange. You feel your head being pushed forward and struggle to sit back.

    Would be super handy if BA paid compensation for your missed train :P

      Morgan Noonan why should BA compensate, it’s up to the passenger to allow for delays when booking onward transport.

      If ATC have to minimise flight arrivals, due say to an emergency or for safety (e.g. weather) or the stand can't be vacated due to another plane/airline's issues, then there's not much anyone can do. It's hardly the airline's fault.

    • @noelphilips
      @noelphilips  5 лет назад

      To be fair I wouldn't expect them to - they did what they had to and got me to LHR within an hour of scheduled time, more than 3 hours they have to pay compensation, delays usually can't be helped and it's just one of those things that I missed my train.

    Do people who get a window seat in business class other than that first one you got have to climb over sleeping stranger's feet if they have to get up during the flight?

    • @noelphilips
      @noelphilips  Год назад

      On this configuration, no one has to do that. However there are some configurations where you have to.

    The sooner BA upgrade their hard product in Business the better. This seat is 20+ years old and it shows, rubbish storage and if your in the middle seats you have climb over other passengers legs to get to the aisle when the seat is flat.
