BA has a special place in my heart because I was in NYC on a non-changeable ticket and got a call to say I should get home to see my father ASAP as he was dying. I called BA who said without hesitation "well, we've got to get you home as soon as we can: you'll be on the next flight." Doing that meant I got back to spend a lovely day with him before he finally lost consciousness. I will never forget that, and whilst like every airline they get things wrong sometimes, when it mattered they delivered.

Your comment got me shivers as I had the same exact situation albeit with Delta when I was in Boston. It's great when companies show their humane side. They clinch a customer for life.

I remember how I was departing on a domestic flight from a tiny airport in Mexico on a three leg international journey, and they had to check if I can enter my destination country and the layover country. It took them maybe 10-15 minutes, with an open binder and being on the phone with a more central location.

As former BA cabin crew I have to agree with a lot of your summary. The hard product does need improvement (the Club Suites are a very welcome upgrade), and seeing the old IFE is a painful reminder of how often it failed on the 747, however, as regards crew & service, BA regularly gets recognition for the high standards. Training in Club & First service is no longer done when crew first join and you have to bide your time to get trained up. Looks like you were looked after by some of the legacy WorldWide crew on your trip and I know they deliver excellent service!

Their product in Russia need improvement. Thanks for making this video, so I can tell that its not all dandy.... They LEFT ME IN RUSSIA. I made a change in my ticket, to leave later, cost 650 pounds. Expensive. They agreed to do a "partial cancellation" , changing the first leg of the journey and leaving the others intact. On the phone, says to me "you will have a new ticket issued on mail within 1 minute. I stayed with him, worried that it didnt show, "youll be fine, its coming in a few minutes".... hung up on me. It never came....! Go to the airport hoping all is ok. The ticket is not found in the system. Unknowingly he did the rebooking with partner airline S7. They look through their Harry Potter year 1200 rusty ol book of reservations (no pc checking) and the flight is not there. I bully them to the point that they let me go on the flight from Kazan i think it was, to Domo Moscow, without an actual ticket. Im one of the few who has ever flown without an actual ticket I reckon. I get to Domo, the rest of the flight still isnt found. BA counter just waves me away when I try to explain. Spent 48 hrs in the airport, end up paying for a new ticket home, all in all, costing me 1500gbp on phone bills AND rebooking of ticket, trying to call the BA ticket center in UK from russia COSTS a kidney! and even then, i got through to a nonsympathetic c*nt who just like the russian counter-cow cuts me short and says there is nothing in her system that tells that they did wrong. I get home, try to talk to them further. The ticket with the old bookingcode has ofc vanished from their system (no failsafe, if the ticket doesnt get re-issued) which means no way to prove it other than show them the old ticket from email. Get an Automated response from them, "we are so sorry robot robot robot apology, here are 10000 avios, please dont contact us again cuz we dont care"... To this day, I didnt fly with BA again. Their neglect made me as a seasoned traveller almost wanna quit flying around the world DJ'ing. It was that much a hassle. Hate to think what wouldve happened to an old lady, as she wouldve surely perished in the airport without the help. Domodedovo was as much part in this horrible experience as BA was, but ultimately it was the 2nd phonecall to a noncaring service agent that sealed the fate of my travel. Never f*ckn again I say! KLM/THY/SQ & SAS have never failed me to this degree. Loyal to them forever.

Those seats are definitely "weird" but seem quite comfortable, and the way food is served, for me? it's the proper way both in business and first class; not just "throwing everything on a tray", not classy; this is an elegant and chic way to get a single dish for every meal. Once again you never cease to amaze me Noel with your reviews....still making may "mourning" days much better to cope with, so thank you for that

Got to agree Noel on that ‘ba feeling.’ Just before covid I was on a trip that had 8 flights between the UK, US and Mexico. I had a couple of nightmare delays, diversions and rebookings on US domestic airlines. At the end of the trip seeing the BA 747 sitting on stand just gave me a sense of relief.
Also like that you have your own opinion and objective views. When it comes to the CW, travel reviewers just tend to follow the crowd and bash it.

Funny noises from the slat hydraulics on approach made it Obvious that the original 777 is by now a pretty old aircraft 😅

I had the privilege of flying BA84 twice in 2019, the first time in World Traveller Plus on the A380 and the second in Club World on the 747-400, probably my last ever flight on the Queen of the Skies. Great service and good food on both occasions and you are right, it's like stepping foot on British soil as soon as you enter the aircraft which as a patriotic Brit like yourself is a pretty good feeling.

I have to say that I get the same feeling with BA whenever I fly - nearly always get a great crew, and certainly the majority of my recent flights have been. I've a soft spot for the older Club World seat you were occupying in the video, as it was the first ever proper business class seat I got to fly in, but have to say the Club Suite is a definite improvement (but that's hardly surprising when compared to an older product that was a world leader at the the time of its release). Not so sure i'm sold on the single tray serving of the food though (although on an overnight flight it makes sense), but that's just personal preference. Great video.

Your comment about British airways crew being very friendly is very correct, though I have never flown with them but whenever I bump into them either at Heathrow, Gatwick, Johannesburg, Lagos,Abuja, Accra , Dubai or Cairo, they are extremely welcoming with their great smiles and pleasantries

You helping the novice traveler out won the video. I'm an education specialist, and that's what we do. They need help, and you stayed until you knew they were good. That's class.

Awe. It's always fun to be away from home-but at the same time, it's always very nice when you arrive home after a holiday as well! I didn't miss home once when I went to Las Vegas on my own last year. However, I was stranded in Dallas Love Field airport for about 20 hours and I missed home then. But I was super glad to be back-and my dogs missed me as well.

Really spoke to me on a personal level with this video Noel, I was lucky enough to live in Vancouver for nearly 4 years before circumstances dictated I had to come back home to Yorkshire, had visited a couple of times whilst I was away and both times I used Air Canada and as pleasant as they were I didn’t feel like I was back in Blighty until on the tarmac at LHR. Where as on the day I moved home permanently (which as you can imagine I had very mixed emotions about) I booked BA84 in world traveller plus and from the minute I saw that Union Jack tail pull up I felt at ease, the amazing service and familiar accent from the crew made me proud to be British and although Canada will always have my love there’s no place like home and BA helped me realise that. Keep up with the fantastic content my friend

Flew from HKG to LHR on a 747-400 in 2001 in Biz Class and it was amazing: seat, crew, food. Unfortunately BA have decreased in quality since then, but I haven't flown them for quite a while. I do accept though that they get a patriotic bonus in your judgement... ;-)

They buttered the landing. Loved how you compared BA with the old settee. Just amazing Noel :)

You can’t beat BA for comfort - a hard won tradition going back to the BAOC trans Atlantic clipper service and Concorde. Welcome back to Blighty Noel.

awe i'm glad you are back with your family! i would like you to do a video of how entering the UK is atm and the procedures/ what tests you used ect. That would be so helpful coming from someone who does it often since covid started. I am heading back to the UK in a week and all the test rules and diff test company options is all so confusing!

In America, we'd say you're really drinking the BA Kool-Aid in this video! 😁 I know what you're saying, though. When you step on board, it feels like you're already halfway to London.

Nice review, Noel. I'm glad you said that about their Business Class seats. The blue pods they had before weren't bad either. I used to fly them from US to Bangladesh, Pakistan, Africa. What I noticed about the crews is they were much nicer on the LHR to far away places than the US-UK routes. I blame my fellow Americans. The BA arrivals lounge at LHR (with showers, English breakfast, etc) was just awesome. The big downer is that they charge huge fees along with the Avios tickets, so these days I've moved my Avios to Qatar and saved thousands.
