- BOB SCHMIDT SHOWS YOU A SIMPLE REPAIR FOR A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS TYPE OF WINDOW TREATMENT. WHEN THE SQUARE HOLE ON THE TOP OF YOUR VERTICAL BLIND GETS RIPPED OFF THERE IS A SIMPLE REPAIR PRODUCT AVAILABLE FOR AN EASY FIX. HOW TO REPAIR THE TOP OF A VERTICAL VANE THAT FALLS OFF OR GETS PULLED DOWN
Been in the biz for over 30 years and never saw a "vane saver." Great job!!!
I can't thank you enough! We love in Florida, where there are vertical blinds everywhere you look and I was just about to go out and spend 1000 dollars per sliding door to replace ours because a few were broken! Thank you so much!
thanks so much for this video. i was so aggravated with my verticals and never knew these things existed until your video...thanks again
Hi All, I do a lot of repair work pretty much in anything possible. I like the video and the quick fix. I have 2 suggestions.
1 To make it look better, you may simply paint the Vain Saver.
2 Just upside down the blind and cut a hole in rectangle shape.
Hope this helps
Glad I came across your video. Thank you for this awesome tip! Went to Home Depot today and bought the repair kit. So happy that my blinds are not falling every time I open them!

US Verticals in Kissimmee, FL carries these, and they also repair the tracks too. We use them all the time for our blinds

Thanks so much for this information!!!! :).
Cant help with local dealers,but there are plenty of online sources+++Bob
I think theyre better price online and u may as well by a bunch it seems that with age and sun they get brittle and break easier. I went to Lowe's and asked for 'vane savers' and was told they don't have them, but she said they have a repair kit and was basically told that name doesnt exist. she showed me where the kits were and right next to it were the 'vane savers' with the term right on there. so that is what they are called. people like that are so annoying.
@missionaryoffaith Vane savers ++++Bob
THANK YOU!!!!!
Thanks so much I will try these clips bcuz I too I'm one of those duck tape hoping it works this time people.
Thank you sir..!!
THANK YOU!! This was VERY helpful! Now I can remove the duct tape my husband used and still didn't work. Thanks again! :-) One more question: What if the prong is broken? I have a couple broken ones so even using these vane savers wouldn't help. Do I need to replace the entire thing?
thank you so much! we have been using tape! LOL
These work great. But, if your vane holes are cracking, the rest of the vanes will soon follow. But new ones.
Nice!
Very good,Thanks,Now the Q is from where i can buy this,(i live in Chicago)
@ladyrider49 Glad to see I am not the only one! +++Bob
thanks!!
Can you show how to restring the blinds similar to the ones shown in the video?
Another woman watcher YEAAA Thanks+++Bob
Found mine at Home Depot blind department you can also purchase them online check out one of my [links]on this video good luck---Bob
WILL -DO ===BOB
LOL wow....now to tear off the 3 layers of duct tape on half my blinds xD
Omg!! Thank u
theres also the cheap cheap version of using a paperclip.
How do you replace the white plastic piece that holds the vane?
yaaa i can finally fix mine
YOU ARE WELCOME!!!!! Whats with all the yelling LOL +++Bob
Did you try to google it?+++Bob
Try GOO-GONE or GOOF-OFF, Works great===Bob
Good stuff to know but it doesn't address my problem. I have 3 sets of vertical blinds all with multiple occurrences of the same problem. The small clips (carriers/holders) get stripped and the vanes then do not close/open. Wish me luck in researching this problem - so far I've come up empty.
Thanks! I tried tape and failed, then found your video.
Who would purposely buy these stupid things? I have to deal with these ugly things because my landlord has them in the stupid apartment.
never thought i'd find the answer on youtube! LOL@duct tape! I have ugly black sticky stuff where the duct tape used to be. Now how the hell do I clean them? I tried soaking them in clorox, scrubbing with bleach sprays.. nothing works... i think some of my blinds even have foot/shoe prints on them that I can't scrub off lol
I got a problem with the parts that hold the vains. They keep breaking.
Just paid only $4.75 for a 10 pack on eBay. Thanks.
To late Bob, jaja. Thanks anyway.
LOL!
@BloodFairy1097 Google vane saver online Gotta be dealers willing to deliver!+++Bob
