Just had this problem. Went to Blinds To Go, they gave me this metal clip that is specifically for this problem. Sorry I don't know what it is called. Comes 6 to a pack. Snapped it on in half a second. Best part, it was free! And good as new. No need to do this cutting and pasting process. Easy peasy!
I have to say after begging hubby to fix (now three) broken blinds I came on youtube to try it myself. Glad I found your video. I used an extra slat from a horizontal mini blind and it worked perfectly. Thank you! Finally the blinds look & work perfect.
apparently one can purchase something called a vein saver!!! metal device simply slides on. is on another US video but I doubt I can get it in England or if I can It'll be called something totally different!

I use white duct tape over the top and then cut a hole, works great

Best cleanest fix I've found so far!
They sell clips in Lowe’s that hold the blind....in case anyone needs to fix there’s. Advice from Quarantine 2020.

if you dont have extra piece to cut, those transparent plastic bottles will work too.....i use super glue

Should just have uses small staples. Twice on each side and close to the hole for maximum support :)

This might be the dumbest thing I've seen all day. Take a stapler and staple the top of the blind slot hole closed. 5 seconds and done.
