Thank you. I'm so glad the engineers that designed these new cordless blinds made it relatively easy to replace individual sections. Kids and blinds do not mix well.
We hear you. We were skeptical at first being we have to replace them more frequently due to having multi family but in the end safety is what is most important
Huskies and blinds don’t go well with these blinds either! My boy gets so excited when he sees me or his mama pull in the driveway that he tries to shove his head through the blinds, even though he still hasn’t learned to stick his head through the window glass…yet! LOL!
I’m here for my cats😂 I’ve fixed blinds with cords before, but we have cordless ones now and I was stumped on how to fix them. Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Thank you so much for this! If I may add a tip. I used one of my tapestry needles to thread the cord back through the slats. Definitely made it faster and easier.
WOOOW Im so glad i searched this up before making the same mistake twice. I’ve had a cat for over a year and he’s messed them up good. I already bought a new pair and they’re not too cheap, this time I was like “there’s gotta be a way” and searched this up. I’m very happy you saved me some moneys. 🤜🏼🤛🏼😎
I came here to say: this really worked! It took me much longer, as I had three dilapidated blinds. Took about an hour? Nevertheless, my blinds are like new now! And I don’t have to worry about anybody peeeeeeking through my windows.
Awesome! This is the best video that explains in detail how to do this very simple job. The only thing I was a bit confused about, was what to do with all of the excess string left over from the slats I removed from the bottom to replace the damaged ones (7 in all) above. I finally pulled the bottom piece off, and moved it up just below the final slat of the blind and stuffed the extra string into the holes. It worked perfectly. Thanks for the great video!!
Well done. Well explained and straight to the point. After watching another vid that was twice the length of yours, you've made it simple and straight to the point. well done and thank you for the help.
Really appreciate your tip on clipping off the middle cord at the top for cordless blinds. Probably saved me a whole lot of work trying to fish it back down if I didn't have the slack. Great video.
Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for. You are an excellent teacher. Replacement is not expensive, but this saves me having to replace the attachment hardware which is a different type. Also, searching for them in the stores, to find the right size, etc. Great, clear and to the point. I love my son's dog, but she likew to look out the windows and messed up several blinds. Luckily, they are much longer than needed, so plenty of slats at the bottom.
I decided to replace the small blinds since I found them easily, and the other blinds were just cracking apart. They are ages old. The new ones were $7 each (2). I'll replace the brackets, which will be better in the long run. However, with the larger blinds, I plan to do this.
I did not know it was this easy, cat messed up my blinds and I had about 15 extra just lying on the bottom, thought they were all gonna fall apart once I got them loose. Thank you for teaching how to fix.
Also the bottom button clip at the bottom the one the knot goes into can come out and you stuff the support strings into the hole to shorten the whole bottom if you have taken a few slats out. Replace the button and it holds the support strings in.
My dumbass was referencing this video with another where the other video took the entire set of blinds off; i skipped past the part where you said to put clips on the string... i took my L and now i gotta buy a whole new set of blinds
I had three strings and forgot to put a binder clip on the middle string. Or I'm not sure if I didn't put the binder clips properly. The strings became shorter while I was feeding them back in. How do I make the strings the normal length again?
I didn’t follow the procedure right and use strong enough clips so the 2 middle main strings went up into the base. Is there anyway to get them out? UGH! I can’t believe it! Sucks
I had a snafu trying this my clips holding the two guide lines slid off causing the lines go up to the top. Now i can’t the lines to come down but halfway . Is there a workaround for this?
I don’t understand how you only needed to take off one string and not all of them. How did you push the replacement blind through the other 2 strings ?
Hello, I followed your instructions, except for 1.... Now the middle strings on each side were drawn up into the top bar.... Any trick or video on how to pull the string that is mysteriously disappeared?
@@Oceandesert16 Same situation here. I swear manufacturers plan this crap. Why in the world would it not have a stopping mechanicsm to keep it from being sucked into the top spring loaded mechanism. so that you could pull back out.
then you my friend... are FOOKED! You could try and fish it out of the top but would require taking off the blinds to do this. It can be done unless it is sucked back completely inside the mechanism in which case... unfortunately it would be cheaper to buy new blinds.
If it is your personal home… sure! That works great. Our residents that rent our nice property from us expect more than taped together blinds so this is a good way to make them “like new”. Good idea for personal home use though!
If you are referring to a little metal piece at the bottom to hold the bar on I would not see why you could not cut it off and then tie it back on when done… or just make a fat knot underneath in place of the metal piece. If the metal piece is on the string holding the individual slats… that would be a new one to me as I have never seen that. Proceed at your own risk ⛔️
Mine had this also. It is a tiny metal clamp that I was able to slide off with pliers. It was to small for me to re-open and use again but I just tied it off like in the video and I was fine.
They can be done the same way. The corded ones are a little easier because you don’t have to worry about the cord getting sucked back up into the unit on accident. Lol
Where can I find single slats? I have 2 dogs they jumped on window shades they rip almost 5 of them on accident, Google is not very helpful. Please give some suggestions if you know by any chance we highly appreciate your help and thank you for great video.
To be honest… you may be better off getting a new set at this point. I looked and it’s hard because depending on the size, color, material… etc you will find it difficult If your blinds had extra at the bottom (too long to begin with… you could remove 5 from the bottoms and replace the broken ones? Maybe?
oh no! yeah, if they are cordless blinds, then you have to put a clip of something at the top before you untie them or the cords can retract up into the top. unfortunately, to fix that you would have to take them down and fish the string out from the top while trying not to spill out all of the slats since they are no longer attached to the rest of the blinds. This will be a pretty big pain, and I think if it were me, I would just scrap them and buy a new set. but, I'm sure its possible to fish the string back out. let us know if you get it straitened out and have any tips for people facing the same issue.
@@SkyManagement I got the strings back out. However they nolonger go up and down. I will just need to buy a new one. I will try to come back here if/when I move out of my apartment and need to finally replace my blinds. Until then I do not plan to replace them as I have a toddler who will most definitely destroy them again.
After I get new ones tho my plan is to tear apart the old ones and figure out how the mechanics work. As I do with most of the things I manage to break.
I did the left part on Friday, and the right side on yesterday. When I finished, I realized, that I threaded them on the outside of the looped threads, and not on the inside. 😡 I left them this way, but I am going through an obsessive compulsive disorder episode, because of this. Although the blinds go up and down just as well.
I messed up in the process and the strings have fully retracted into the spring mechanism. I'm not sure what happened but they dont appear to make a stopping mechanism so once the strings retract now the whole window blind is defunct? wtf is that. I have to buy a whole replacement? I swear they manufacturer stuff like this on purpose to make more money.
I use to think so too because blinds were cheap to replace. but with everything going to cordless blinds now, they have gotten so expensive that they are worth fixing now.

glad we could help! with the cordless, just be sure to clip the top of the string so it doesn't try to retract them up into the top.
@@SkyManagement I did what you said and fixed both of my blinds in under 20 minutes total! I had 6 slats to replace on each. Thanks again!
