I just put the Morimoto XB headlights in my 2018 F-150. The difference was amazing. My stock fogs were brighter than the headlights. Now, O can’t even see the fogs. I’m getting the Morimoto gigs installed in a couple of days. You’ll love’em!!!

Just installed these today and this video was invaluable. Some gotchas id like to call out: be careful when routing the wiring that you don’t accidentally pull off a connector. I did that and when I put the harness back on it was glitchy. Nearly considered hard wiring it. Also, I used a Dremel tool and created a notch for the DRL fuse wire. Otherwise you end up pinching the shit out of that wire and could sever it. Other than that the install went well and the lights completely transform the look.

I’m doing this on my 2018 Today. Would be good to mention the head light aim/calibration steps. Sounds like the high beams are tough to aim once everything is back together so check it out before reattaching all the paneling/fenders.

Ray Medina glad we can help. And the fender flare is easier if you take the clips off the body and put them on the flare. Then push it into the body

Thank you but we actually were learning this job as we went, so it took longer than usual for us. But if you have the right tools and you follow this video you can prob get it done within 2 hours or so. If you have extra hands it could be quicker

rsims7 yeah it’s definitely a high priced purchase. But people have to understand this is a 2019 truck. Any aftermarket part is going to be costly considering it’s so new. And exactly! What happens when a light bulb goes out do you need to buy a whole mother light housing?
xmldigitz1 LEDs won’t burn out, they’re not a bulb. The only way it’ll go bad is if it has a short or some electrical issues. But say you wanted to change them you can just remove the bulb like you would do with the stock bulb.
What Bulbs did you use? Ones that came with it or different ones purchased elsewhere ?

Do these lights and asse workmblies work properly with the "Auto" function? I've seen some reviews saying they dont dim when they should and I've not seen anyone talk about if the auto high beams turn on and off like factory.
I installed mine tonight on my 2019 and the auto high beams work perfectly.
Have you had any issues with the morimotos such as disturbing other drivers with the brightest. Also have you had any technical problems. Can you possibly do a night drive with traffic to compare to other drivers?
TripleVenti1 we haven’t had any issues mechanically and the lights are very bright but they haven’t blinded oncoming traffic and yeah I’m sure we can film a video soon

Did these lights come with bulbs or did you have to install LED bulbs? I'm looking for an alternative to my halogen lights. But between the housings themselves and buying actual high and low beams its a small fortune. Also love to see you're from Jersey. 732 here!
These headlight Housings are LED so they came with the led bulbs yes! The DRL’s are LED strips as well. these headlights are beautiful but personally way to expensive for me. For my GTI I just bought LED bulbs from amazon for like $50 and they are just as bright haha. So if you like your stock housing and want to switch from halogens to brighter I’d just buy aftermarket LED bulbs! And Ayy were from the 908!
Do you need to install the DRL wiring in order for the rest of the headlight assembly to work properly? I don't believe DRLs are required in my state and I'd rather not cut my fuse box to prevent that wire from being pinched.
No you don’t need to install them for the rest of the headlight to function. Yeah if it’s not required and you don’t feel like cutting don’t even bother. But I will tell you they do look awesome with just the DRLs running

Just used your video to install my new set of Morimoto headlights..... everything went well except... I started the truck to check connections and lights prior to putting the active grill back in during the install. After the install, the AC wasn't working and I had a check engine light on. After turning the truck on and off twice it cleared.... I think it threw a code during the install when the grill was unplugged and just had to reset. Did you ever hear of this happening? Everything fine now.... enjoying new light now just need to adjust beam slightly.
Hey there actually yeah something similar happened! It seams if you don’t have the grill plugged in with the adaptive grill it throws codes. But yeah once you plug it in and clear the codes you’re good to go!
Hey I have a question what is the wire for? Is everything fed through the main harness?
Everything is fed through the harness yes. But the wire is for the fuse box. the DRL needs to be on a certain fuse
I installed these on my 2018 along with the fogs and tail lights. You had any issues with the blinkers acting funny? (Blinking fast like a burnt bulb sometimes but not others?)
Blake Gary no we haven’t:/ usually means a bulb is burnt out but they’re LED. Maybe check the turn signals in the rear. Ik that sounds obvious but it can’t hurt to check. But if it’s not them I’d email morimoto and see if they’ve had similar issues

You need to go into forscan and change the timing. You no longer need resistors to stop the blinker hyper flash. You can splice in resistors if you prefer but its no longer needed. Many how to videos on youtube showing off the the capabilities of "forscan" hope this helps.

I have a 2019 f150 and i just purchased the morimoto gen2 edition of these. Whenever i hit a pothole or any rough roads.. does not need to be a crater.. it looks as if my high beams come on and off. The lamp flickers ... when i aim lamps at my garage door and hit the fender slightly to simulate a bump or rough road.. you can see the internals shake... so the beam pattern jumps and looks like your flicking your highbeams. Both headlamps do this... everything connected as is... just seems the projectors are not sturdy enough inside the housing... have you noticed that at all with these?? I contacted the manufacturer waiting on reply. As well i send video footage of the issue.
That's exactly why I'm keeping my factory headlight housings and upgrading to quality LEDs. Yours isn't the first post about quality control issues with morimoto headlights. I was considering Alpharex headlights originally, but their customer service is horrible. There's always a compromise when it comes to the aftermarket. The factory headlight housings from Ford are built to a higher standard of quality than anything in the aftermarket, but unfortunately the halogen bulbs are garbage. 1500 dollars for a set of headlights from a manufacturer that has known quality control issues? To each their own, but I'll pass on that.
Aren’t you supposed to test the fuse circuit for the fuse tap? There’s a load side and a draw side.
What models came with the projector headlights

How do they work with the auto stop/start? My factory lights dim when my truck auto starts at a traffic light. Do these to that too? Any trouble with them?
It's more than likely any light is going to dim when the starter turns over. Starter draw on average is going to be at least 250 amps, so it's safe to say that's gonna pull down any lighting circuit that's hot while cranking. To each their own, but I permanently disabled the start/stop on my F150. I honestly can't see any benefit to it whatsoever.

@@_Moto215 Yes, I disabled it through forscan. I went the extra step of disabling the switch as well, so yeah, the start stop system is completely disabled and can no longer be activated. If I'm not mistaken, the extended license is needed to perform these functions, but we're talking 10 bucks for a one year license. Money well spent in my opinion.
I have a 2.7 2020 that I want to get to 500hp(+175hp). Any suggestions on mods or a shop to have do the work. I live in Maryland. Would be willing to travel for the right shop
For the 2.7 it might be a little bit different rn ours is pushing over 500whp. We have a Downpipe, turbo adapters, thermostat, intake system and that’s really it. We got ours Dyno tuned from 5star tuning in South Carolina! Highly recommend them. We’re from NJ and we drove down there for the tune, and it really woke up this beast! How the hell do you get the fender flare back on? I can't get it to slide back into the clips on the trim
It’s tricky and takes some finessing, idk how to really explain it over text unfortunately

Hahaha yeah it truly is a pain for something that should be so simple 😂
Easiest way is to remove the clips from the trim and install them back into the flare before re-installation. The problem is the clips stay in the trim when you pull the flare out. Technically, the clips are supposed to come out with the flare and not stay stuck in the trim during removal. Unfortunately, that rarely happens and you end up fighting the damn things to get stuff back together.
How are the drl during the day look?
They look really good in my opinion. I think you’d like them. Most ppl do
Nice video. I had a company install mine. The day I got the truck back sometimes when I turn the engine off and hit the alarm on my key to lock it the outside LED strip lights up bright and stays on. Is this faulty equipment or installation error? Any advice would be appreciated.
monolithtitan hey we have a similar issue. It’s a design flaw for the newer style trucks. We’ve been in contact with morimoto and are waiting on a solution

monolithtitan Hahahah nah it def won’t do that 😂 but yeah for sure man, I’ll email you once we find out. It has something to do with the wiring because from the 18 to the 19 it’s wired differently from what they said. Just gotta find a solution
Ratchet Wrenches alright so I just got done with their support line. I ended up just putting the tap into a different 10 amp fuse in the cluster. I can’t remember the number off the top of my head of which fuse I used but when I get home I’ll look at it again and let you know. Did you do any filing or anything on the fuse box so that you could run the wire into it without putting stress on the wire once you put the top back on? I’m brainstorming on what I wanna do about that. The company that installed these did a really shit job and just forced the top back on pinching the wire.
monolithtitan that’s what they told us to do as well, we swapped the fuse from panel like 35 to 36 or something like that. It worked temporarily and is back to doing the original problem. And we actually rigged up a little slit on the side for the wire to go through. You can definitely find a nicer way to route it rather then the way the company installed them for you. Ya pinching the wire is a huge no no hahah so definitely re route it.

That clicking is the high pressure fuel pump it’s normal.Has nothing to do with the engine. Noise is the same on twin turbos or coyote V8 it’s the same pump.

The problem with all those options is at the end of the day .....there plastic so eventually they will fade ......1500$ for some faded headlights......if there were tempered glass I would think about it

the LEDs on these look super cheap. Anzo's looks like a nice LED bar where u cannot count the individual LEDs which looks more expensive but costs about 1/3

My thoughts as well, I have a 2019 and the bulbs in it could be better. I've been looking at headlight upgrades for a week now and those lights are $1350. I can get the best bulbs on the market in my lo/hi for $340. Factory DRL headlights are cheaper than these...
