It's not just the gypsy community. Many communities consider a girl a woman once her period starts. The whole biological purpose of living is to have kids. In the gypsy community both groom and bride are of similar age though.

Being pregnant at 14 is not even safe, it can put both her and the baby at risk. The body of a 14 year old isn't meant for bearing children. A girl at 14 should be focused on school, friends, extracurriculars, makeup, fun. Not looking for a husband.
