Zach You are an amazing instructor. I am learning so much more from your way of breaking down the mechanics than I have ever before. Your ability to simplify movements is SO AWESOME! Thank you for sharing your talent for teaching with the rest of us!
This is super helpful. I've picked up the squatting action from many other videos. The thing is, however, unless you understand how the weight distribution goes with it, you're still lost. Can't wait to go back to the range and try this out! Thanks.
The fix to this is an upper body intention. The right shoulder needs to go out more. People are scared of over the top because 99% of golf publications bring it up in every article, so they crash their right shoulder down to "hit from the inside". If you properly rotate your right shoulder down and OUT your weight will go to your lead heel naturally. If it went to the toes you would fall forward.
Mr Zach Allen - this is right up my street and I've been working hard and seeing huge improvement in my ball striking and general swing 'shape'... Thanks a million, William P.S. Early Extension has to be the most difficult fault to fix in the golf swing - especially if you've been making this incorrect move for a long time...
What about Brook Henderson, Canadian golfer who comes right up on her toes and smashes the ball... 5'3"... winner of 10 LPGA events... what about Gary Player one of greatest of all time came up on his toes?
Excellent movie! Is there some drill to keep the weight shift toward backward? I tend to stand up early in downswing..So It leads to the difficulty of hitting driver...
The KNEES are the KEYS... draw a vertical line from the middle of the knee joint straight down through the foot and find the point of greatest foot pressure. If your knee is over your toes, then your weight is on your toes. If your knee joint is over your ankle your weight will be on your heels. Move your left shin as close to vertical as you can on your transition and downswing and your weight will be on your heels!!!!!! TRY IT.
I think this is the missing piece in this sport! I always thought I need to push into the ground with my toes and it screwed me up. With the pressure down in the heel contact is so crisp, unreal really!
Great video, i was struggling with getting stuck and being on my toes. After watching your video i am hitting my irons pure. Thank you so much for your videos.
Can see the machine or chart at all on the radio video you talk about pressure does that mean weight and how much want squat on the downswing how much you talk about center of mass what does that mean and how is it measured thanks kindly advise Jack
That sure is a lot of unneeded technology to just screw everyone up. Relax all your muscles and let the club drop naturally. You should never focus on your swing. Only focus on your task which is hitting the ball towards a target. Your body will gin the correct swing naturally without you ever thinking about it. All this crap about focusing on body parts is why no one ever gets better at golf for the last 50 years.
It is interesting. that when. she starts the downswing, the pressure. REMAINS. in the right foot and pressure does not. move to the left side really till just before impact. This must take fast and strong legs to execute this move..
The body trak is an excellent way to show th movment of the COP or COM. I prfer the visual of the movement of tennis ball on the shaft or the balance point to show exactly where the COP should be on the downswing i.e. not ahead of the hand path from the delivery poisition. Just my take after buying the blueprint. Proper weight transfer will follow if COM or COP moves correctly throughout the dowswing. No need for Boditrak
Dude,i have a terrible over the top, been looking for that video that clicked in my brain, this one and the "swing wreckers" were it,i'm totally on my toes, can't wait to work this out...Thank you sir!
Zach, wish I had seen this 2 years ago! It makes sense and will be giving it a go tomorrow, weather permitting. Just one question, does the pressure still go on to the lead foot first on the downswing or does the squat come first? Thanks.
Great explanation of how weight transfer and balance work within the golf swing. The presentation really is food for thought and your style of presentation is really helpful. I’ve subscribed and look forward to learning more. Greetings from the UK.
I've heard squatting at the top was the secret power move but it wasn't until seeing the pressure mat example that I was able to consolidate into my swing. I'm definitely a recovering "over the top" and "stuck" hcper. Great video.
I do have a question though....where should my weight be at address ???? Should the weight transfer happen as the back swing initiate or at the top of back swing or start at address!!!??? Thank you for youre time and look forward to here from you!!!
I see a lot of modern instruction that says shift your weight onto your left toes (as you move to left side) and then move weight immediately into left heel to powerfully get leverage from ground and work against firm left side. The logic is that if you start the weight shift with pressure on left heel it's less powerful as the weight is already there and there's less momentum.
Finally found your video after looking for a real fix for my early extension. I actually end up with painful toes after lots of golf so I knew something was wrong. This explains everything perfectly and gives me something to work with. Thank you!
This sounds great and I know that I should implement a squat move into the downswing but every time that I try that, I hit the ball very fat. What am I doing wrong.
I very much like your manner of teaching. You have a very clear, concise and intriguing methodology and your instructions make practical and logical sense to me... will definitely be viewing more of your content
Zach a great explanation, I am a bit confused though, so can you tell me why some coaches show pressure traces of players where the pressure on the trail foot stays fairly central and yet you show the pressure definitely moving to the trail heel?
Very good advice and easy to understand. I’ve never seen this explained this way and how it prevents early extension. This will prevent the shanks too.
This is a great video my favorite online teacher Golfletics teaches this concept so it’s nice to know that others are on the same page. Since learning to squat in transition I have begun compressing the ball and no longer early extend.
Great video Zach. I've been struggling since our last video lesson. Can't seem to stop shifting my weight shifting to my toes and rising up on the backswing. The deep hip turn is elusive to say the least. Maybe the squat will be helpful to at least get my weight back to where it started, and or, further back toward the heels.
What about her follow through Zach, it's markedly different....cut short, more across her body and looks like the face has closed significantly. Is this a potential problem and how to we prevent/overcome it? Thanks.
Very interesting, she was never instructed to do that. Just a by product of how much the beginning of the downswing changed the follow thru plane, and how the club was released. But after ten more minutes of practicing, the follow thru looked more normal again.
I have continued to use the BLUEPRINT and have improved. I continue to struggle with weight shift and turning my hips , and shaft lean. I know this because of not hitting ball then turf very consistently. You rarely seem to mention that issue. I will be interested in whether this drill will help my situation.
This is called low point control. Or being skilled at hitting the ball before hitting the ground. And all those factors you just listed are what really help set up great low point control.
The squat only occurs for a short time, from there you want to make sure you are beginning to open your hips and shoulder towards the target. Part of that opening feeling is allowing the body to gradually extend to the finish. You might not be opening enough, or staying too bent over for too long, both will cause the club to hit behind the ball.
I also purchased The Ball Striking Blueprint and have been practicing at a local Virtual Golf range. It seems to be helping and I can’t wait for the weather to get better so I can play at my course. Zach has an array of videos and they are definitely helping my game.
Great video. I take lessons with Zach and am benefitting from the way he teaches. I encourage those watching to get behind one instructor they trust and follow their lead. I used to watch videos from every instructor on RUclips and go nuts. In time, I realized Zach's approach was practical and made the most sense for me. I encourage you to watch his videos, do the drills, and if you close to him in LA like me, go take a lesson!
I agree. I have three golf instructors on RUclips that I'll watch. Mark Crossfield mostly for entertainment, but presents a lot of very useful information along the way. Clay Ballard and Zach because they offer very clear and concise instruction. Zach is one of my favorites. He produces less content, but it's so top notch that I don't need much more. Keep up the good work Zach!
To my mind a simple way to deliver the message of this video is to start at address with the weight on the balls of both feet (nearer toes) then to load the trail leg at the top (weight will mpve towards rear heel) then from there to, reposition the front leg forward turning the lead knee targetwards and back, then to squat and load both legs whilst moving forward and rotating through the shot. The central idea being that if you start the back swing at address with the weight on the heels, the weight will shift towrds the toes on the downswing. The reverse is also true. If you start the swing from address with the weight nearer the toe,s the weight will shift back towards the heels on the downswing-- which is what you want to do and is the point of the video It is very difficult to rotate with e weight on the balls of the feet and much easier to do with the weight nearer the heels. Roating with the weight on the front heel is what you want to do through impact.
Very true, great explanation. Usually the pressure moves or rebounds from where it started. But simply starting with the weight in the heels is a bad way of getting it there in transition. Much like keeping your head down at address is a bad way of keeping it down at impact.
This would also be applicable. However, as you squat and pressure towards the heels, you should also feel more of a downward motion with the arms and club. A lot going on there, so start slowly with rehearsals, and only %30 power once you hit balls.
You should start from the premise that "early extension" and "coming over the top" are causal and go together. They are very much related to one another. If you stop one so the other will stop.If you have one problem you will most likely (in all probability) have the other problem. Experiment yourself in slow motion. Move your hips towards the ball as you start your downswing. The only possible way to hit the ball is to come over the top resulting in a big pull if the club face is square to the club path at impact.
If you are standing over the ball trying to think if you are properly transferring your weight its a disaster waiting to happen. Players go over the top if they are making the ball the target instead of focusing on where they want to send the ball.
I would say only 10-15% of the golfers I see have a functional COP trace, or one that is not going to totally disrupt their consistency. The other %85 need to do something different, because balance is the #1 physical fundamental in the golf swing.
I genuinely do not understand how this is not the first thing taught in a golf swing. Thank you
Zach You are an amazing instructor. I am learning so much more from your way of breaking down the mechanics than I have ever before. Your ability to simplify movements is SO AWESOME! Thank you for sharing your talent for teaching with the rest of us!

Zach one of the best in the business!
How did humans learn golf before this?
The fix to this is an upper body intention. The right shoulder needs to go out more. People are scared of over the top because 99% of golf publications bring it up in every article, so they crash their right shoulder down to "hit from the inside". I really like the technical equipment used in yout videos. I think its a great asset for understanding golf during a training session
What about Brook Henderson, Canadian golfer who comes right up on her toes and smashes the ball... 5'3"... winner of 10 LPGA events... what about Gary Player one of greatest of all time came up on his toes?
Great tip Zach! Your instruction is easy to understand and implement. Keep up the good work!

Are you able to show some left handed golfers. I am probably overthinking, but visuals always help.
Thank you.
Where have you been Zach we missed you. Great video can't wait to try it and see more from you!!!!
Good to hear from you, hope all is well.
I've been looking for this piece of information for about 13 years.
Hi. This sounds like a possible cure for shanking. Am I right? Thanks. Ralph G.
Would this be why my Mac Ogrady appeared more squat down on his latter videos .
LHS HEEL/RHS TOES = nothing else should happen, ever...?
I think this is the missing piece in this sport! I always thought I need to push into the ground with my toes and it screwed me up. With the pressure down in the heel contact is so crisp, unreal really!

I am from Vietnam and I miss your videos, Zach. Thanks for another great instruction.
I do know that Tiger makes that dip, I never knew why until now.... 👍
great content!! thanx!! but please keep your eyes on mic gain because the voice is quite distorted and annoying
First video of the girl was the best. The guy wasn’t finishing. Great video
Great video; especially of the girl before and after. The guy did not finish even when he did it correctly.
5:47 is what I do. My left foot heel goes up. Luckily my instructor found out and I am working on it.

Wish I could like this video twice! It is simply great.
good stuff....CAN YOU TURN THE BODITRACK 90 DEGREES???? I THINK THAT WOULD HELP MOST PEAPS!

When I reach the top, where is my weight! Heel? Where do I push off from in my lead foot?
The ball or heel?
Yes should be on the heel. Going through this with my coach now on feet work, weight transfer, core position.

thank you great lesson for weight transfer
I’ve just discovered you Zach .youve immediately put 40yrds on my driving.Awesome thank you so much

Zach,in several earlier videos you say the downswing should start with the left knee rotating out and around. Is that info still valid?
Very good advice and easy to understand. I’ve never seen this explained this way and how it prevents early extension. This will prevent the shanks too.
This is exactly what I needed to see
Excellent - thanks 👍👍
This is the crucial step im missing
If I squat, I am afraid of hitting the ground before the ball. Any tips?
Great video ..... watching this video i realized i always go to toes ...... already started on it before the video was over!!!!!
Great tip, easy to incorporate. Could have used it years ago at Laguna Hills driving range.
Wow I didn't know this and my swing is alot more stable and predictable now, thank you from on X over the top golfer.
this man is unreal. By far the best trainer i've seen on youTube ever. thank you Zach.

Thank you Zach! 👍🙏

Ball Striking Blueprint and Wedge Game are two best golf instructional videos i have ever purchased.
Wow! Thanks for the kind words.
Zach, how do you get that tennis ball on your club in past videos?
Commençons - continuons par la France . Gillet Jones.

I find it very hard to rotate my hips when I increase my knee flex that much. Almost impossible.
Richard Little you’ll need to work on stretching your hip flexors
Got an error message with the Tinyurl.com site.
Thought the tip and feeling was great. Of course I have the outside in swing, most do!
Yep that is definitely the more common pattern. I would say close to %75 of golfers suffer from the arms and clubs pulling them into their toes.
Good lesson please explain Moore drill
Great video and great detail
This is the like the *Mac O'Grady* video - squat move.* 👍
Definitely had a great transition. Also look at Sam Snead, John daly, and Jamie Sadlowski.
Great tip. Many thanks.
Amazing lesson
Great video, thanks!
May I assume that this analysis, fix and drill is applicable to those who early extend and come over the top simultaneously?
