The lore behind the star punch is that Doc Louis was the first world champion, and undefeated at that, and he invented the deadly star punch and struck not only pain into the bodies of his contenders but fear and fascination into the hearts of others, especially Sand Man who looked up to Doc like a mentor, and this is proven by the line doc uses in his fight game were he says "I invented the star punch!" And why everyone fears it so much from Mac is because he learned the Doc's secret move
The next game should be about young doc luios in his time as champion
Also kinda depends on the lore. In the original comics, he was never mentioned (as far as I know) to be champion, just one of the better contenders in his time. It's just that we get very little on Doc himself, other than he's able to whip up a literal kid into a world champion.

I do like how in Title Defense Mode, the boxers actually learn to dodge Little Mac's Star Punch. Showing that these fighters not only improved their boxing skills, but also knowing that the Star Punch is Mac's most lethal attack.
I love Piston's reaction. It's like he knew this punch was coming up and chose to take it.

Idk why but anytime when I was playing Punch Out going against TD King Hippo, I kept on using my star punches on him and he never really tried to dodge once.
@@CadenIsCaden I think thats actually because all the 1° circuit title defense titles don't Dodge during their first ko/It is a little by chance.
Maybe It also is that maybe you did them early enough after a punch so they were still in the ending punch animation.

I love the first time you a star punch a boxer after contender mode,they still don’t know how to dodge it but the second time, They’re like “Oh It was just easy as dodging it”
Thats because the person used the star punch after a punch/action, they can always dodge it in a neutral state

When bear hugger does his “bluluhluhluh” taunt and you 1 star uppercut him he will instantly go down. This applies to every phase but not on title defence mode.
I prefer referring to it as the « BLOURLURLURLIRLURLUR » taunt

I’m pretty sure that’s just him reacting to his attack missing. Because I saw another video of this and he didn’t have a specific reaction (i.e. he reacted to his attack missing and not the Star Punch).

Actually aran ryan and great tiger are the only 2 who dont react to the star punch due to them always moving. If anythings arans reaction was simply from missing his attack

Doc gets instadowned by a three star punch if I recall correctly, which is why he used a 1* here

Even just the way they dodge says a lot about their personalitys, with TD macho man you can see his horrified expression but once he dodges he immediately strikes a pose while mockingly saying: "nice try". Even his contender reaction says a lot, hes the only character in contender to attempt to counter the star punch, not even sandman contender tries, it does kind of make sense for macho man, he is the former world champion after all, before he lost it to sandman anyway. Unfortunately characters like Aran Ryan dont have a reaction because arans idle states are out side the players reach leaving no area to star punch in an idle state. Even though great tiger has a reachable idle state he just doesn't react for some reason

Contender Super Macho Man’s reaction is pretty neat, it looks like he’s trying to get a shot in before Mac does. Obviously it doesn’t work, but still, points for trying.

It's a nod to him being a matador, because the tradition is that the matador coaxes the bull into attacking first
@@Damian_1989 I know why he does it, but he's programmed to actually fight once you throw your first punch. I'm guessing Star Punches weren't included in the code for that since he keeps doing it after he throws one.

I've played this game so many times and I don't think I've ever seen that TD Hippo dodge animation before.
Isnt it beautiful? Ive been replaying it over and over again wondering what must be going through Macs head as he realizes that his attack was so predictable that King Hippo of all fighters was not only able to telegraph his attack, but dodge the star punch with ease.
