- A HUGE thank you to WestJet for allowing me to get such a great look at their brand new aircraft! This is WestJet's first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, C-GUDH, at WestJet's 787 Dreamliner show and shine event this morning. What a gorgeous aircraft, both inside and out! Can't wait to fly on it :)

I’m Canadian, and I grew up with WestJet I’m so proud of them for growing into the brand they are now and I am so excited where this aircraft will take them in the future!

I also like them a bit but when I went up north to Yellowknife we got delayed 2.5 days and lost our suitcases. But we got to Yellowknife on Christmas Eve and we got our suitcases back. 5/10 experience

Westjet is really upping their game. They should join Skyteam or Oneworld to increase their recognition. They aren’t a LCC anymore.
They are still a LCC
JayJay Planes&Things at this point, based on their cabin interior, prices, and business model they really aren’t. They’re now trying to compete with air canada at about the same prices for the same product.
Not a LCC, in aviation they would considered a 'Value Carrier'. In terms of price they are on par with AC on most routes only plus or minus a few dollars. They're new business class product is priced similarly to most airlines crossing the Atlantic and the premium product on the 787, much like AC offering, is over priced. Nobody is going to pay $3k for premium economy when for a few hundred more they can be in business. Both AC and WS have pitched the price of their premium economy really badly, so much so that you can often find a business ticket cheaper than a premium economy ticket on the same flight. This conundrum originally seemed just to be the preserve of AC but now with the 787 WS have copied this aspect of their business. I like WS but I always feel they are trying to match AC but that's the wrong approach because AC are terrible to begin with.
Well they are effectively a Skyteam carrier now anyway, even if not officially
Took this plane from Dublin to Calgary yesterday. Very impressed, not only by the jet and its interior, but the staff on board are so pleasant and the services were great.

Great video Alex. WestJet is gonna be fierce competition with their 787s. I also think that their business class seats with the drop down partition in the middle is much better then ours and will be appreciated by many travellers. Well done.

I fly both WestJet and Air Canada regularly and am so happy to see this. I won't be forced to use air Canada as often now.

Thank you so much for this! I've been looking forward to seeing the finished product for these planes after all of the lead up and they certainly do not disappoint. I'm so happy for Westjet. I actually get the opportunity to travel on one of the new dreamliners in May while they're still on the domestic route, so pumped!

As an American, I love your wonderful country! I have not had the opportunity to fly in the B787 however I have traveled with WestJet several times. Treated me like family. Wonderful airline.

What a stunning aircraft! You sure were lucky to tour this beauty! It'll be exciting to see these around more. Although it does bare a striking resemblance to Air Canada's 787 layout, which I enjoyed flying on back in 2016.

West jet has done a very nice job with this plane.
Was it open to the public or just for certain people/reporters/bloggers? A very nice looking airplane. Even economy looks like a decent amount of legroom, compared to other economy products available in the industry. Very nice video!
Flying to Barcelona on the red eye. Will they be offering breakfast and what choices do we get. Can’t wait for this flight.
I just booked Dreamliner row 14th and according to westjet online legend it suppose to be extra leg room but I do not see it in your video, all economy looks the same, is that right?

I've flown Air Canada's 787 business class multiple times. WestJet's appears to be identical except for the color choices. Frankly, so what; it's a fantastic business class pod.

Economy seats have not changed. Since the age of air buses. Only thing that changed is added touchscreen panels for movies.
Beautiful & very comfortable looking interior! Fantastic job, WestJet! If the price is competitively less than flying nonstop to Europe from Seattle, I’d consider connecting in Calgary to fly with WestJet’s 787’s! These beautiful birds were built just 7 miles from my house near Paine Field! You could add a flight from PAE - YYC... that would be a dream connection to Eastern Canada and Europe! 🇺🇸 😊 🇨🇦

Yes, it is! To start we'll be flying YYC-YYZ then Gatwick (LGW) flights will start April 28th. ...also Paris (CDG) in May and Dublin (DUB) in June! Come fly with us!

Better than Air Canada's low cost division, Rouge!! Avoid Rouge at all costs and go with Westjet to DUB.
yvr2002rtw I’ve also flown on AC’s 787 Max, Premium Economy, on that route. That was far superior to AC Rouge! But I really do want to give the WestJet Dreamliner a try. ✈️

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner has 2 layouts. The one with 41 rows and another one with 57 rows. The one in your video has 41 rows?

You should include more information on the technical aspects of the aircraft. Like engines, fuel burn, cabin pressure, etc. There was lots of dead space in your video where this kind of information could have been given.
Hey, how come the products look so similar to Air Canada's B787?
Because Air Canada is the standard Westjet is trying to meet.

Well to be fair its the competition so obv they have to equalize it. AC standard with WJ service.
Looks great but the 3-3-3 layout in a 787 is human abuse on a long fligh. I know others do it as well but it takes the dream out of the Dreamliner.

Never flown WestJet but its nice to see domestic competition for AirCanada. AC has a poor reputation.
That’s great but not everyone can afford first class or business class. I would love to be up there but I can only afford economy and that is expensive for me too.
Love the business class but the premium class is just too expensive for what they are offering. It seems like they've pegged themselves too much to AC. Over $3k in premium economy to DUB? No thanks.

Westjet must have something up their sleeve because Dublin, Paris and Barcelona are not ideal business class destinations.
