- Kobo Libra Colour is an absolute game-changer. The biggest reason is that it is from Rakuten Kobo.
This is the first time the big brands have implemented colour into their e-Readers. It has physical page-turn buttons, compatibility with the Kobo Pencil, a larger battery and a recessed display. Read books, magazines, manga, or browse the web; everything is vibrant.

It's clear that Amazon is going to release color e-reads next year, so Kobo decided to beat them to it.
I appreciate the ability to write directly on the page! Unlike the scribe…
The whole reason for it…and couldn’t do it
The price of the scribe in comparison to its capabilities was so foul.
It’s tempting. Will wait for the Elipsa to have a colour as well. And see how the stylus works with the Libra.
I can’t wait for color to be released in the larger models. I want to read my digital comics. American comics are more dense than manga and my old eyes have a hard time on a 7 inch screen
If they make an 8" color kobo with buttons and I'm sold.
Well, we were all thinking that it would be the sage instead of the Libra
Because the sage already has note taking
And then we thought well, gallery 3 only exists in an 8-in form
Then we said... Hmmmm
@@goodereader perhaps it has to do with the libras popularity over the sage due to battery life or pricing concerns. Regardless I love my sage but color is my biggest want for it moving forward. Great video, I look forward to the full review!
Can you please do a side by side comparison with the libra 2? In terms of specs and the experience
Nice. I would like to see comparison between Kobo Libra Colour and Pocketbook Era Color. I definitely plan to buy color e-reader in near future, just not sure which one. I have Kobo Forma since it was released and only thing I am missing is color display for better comics experience.
It's nice to see basic sleep cover being covered. There is barely any video about the non-origami basic sleep cover. Kobo has also released clear case for the new devices. Would be nice to know if they improve the handling of the devices by adding some grip to the recycled plastic back.
Damn now they need to let me bluetooth a keyboard to it and use it as a journal
I'd like to point out that there are multiple options for SleepCovers compatible with the Libra Colour.
Basic SleepCover - simplest design SleepCover
Notebook SleepCover - SleepCover with slot for stylus (shown in this video at 3:39, stylus slots in on left side)
SleepCover - origami style folding/standing cover we are used to
Man, i want to buy this. 🔥
I'm waiting for a bigger screen colour display
I bought a kobo elipsa 2e four months ago, i will wait 2-3 years to buy a kobo elipsa with kaleido 4.
i just wish that Kobos have playstore to it. because it doesn't have that and an expandable storages where most brands do not have. i chose the Hyread ereaders.
We completely understand, but for the average Canadian / american, being able to walk into a Walmart and buy one of these is a huge selling point
Especially because you can try them before you buy
198g? Nice. Only 18g more than my Aura Edition 2. I bet people are still going to complain about how heavy and tiring to use it is, however, since this is the Internet. :P
edit: "Big 3"? Amazon and Kobo, of course, but who's the third?
I own a Kindle signature edition and a kobo libra 2, and im going to upgrade to the libra color. I can't stand amazon for their closed ecosystem, and the fact you can't buy books via the Kindle app just pushes me for kobo. I have had crashes on my signature edition but no such crashes or stuckness from kobo. Im moving all my books to kobo and rebuying the small library i have to kobo. I wanted color, and im not waiting for Amazon to make a color edevice. I love my kobo, but it's time for me to upgrade because of the faster processeor and the fact that this one has a 5ghz connection. I also have a library where i can borrow books from straight from overdrive. I live in the USA, and we just got kobo Plus, so im definitely switching. i read a lot of manga and books as well as comics, so im definitely going to be buying the kobo, and im never going Kindle again. Soo many things of the Kindle just make me frustrated, and kobo has been the most pleasant experience.
Great
I dont need one. I have a Libra 2, Paperwhite, Scribe and multiple Kindle basics. I dont need this Libra Colour. BUT I SO WANT ONE
I'm kind of dispointed by that enormous side bezel. Hurts pocketability a lot.
You can use the kobo Clara colour
COLOUR is the correct spelling. Well done Canada.
Can't wait for Kindle Color, finally the big three is manking their move. My Kindle Library is just to big for change the game right now, but I'm almost buying one hahaha
Wake me up when they refresh their 8 inch device. Couldn't care less about the colour screen, honestly..
I don’t quite understand why you need to make a condescending remark on where the device is made. It tarnished the reputation of your otherwise professionally made video
No it doesn't tarnish anything.
Where a device is made and manufactured is of great concern to many consumers
You are in the extreme minority if you don't check where devices are manufactured prior to purchasing it
It is as important as price
@@goodereader I honestly don’t care where it is made unless it is well made.
@@CerroZimm cool, you don't care where it's made, that doesn't change the fact that the grand majority of people care where the product is made
@@goodereader hm… majority? I give you the benefit of the doubt.
- Manufacturing moved, so it's a change.
- Some people prefer items not made in China due to the perception (warranted or not) of poor manufacturing
- Others might prefer it, due to the same perception about Taiwan
- Some people might have concerns about privacy or security now that the device's source code and firmware are in the hands of the Chinese government
- Others may have objections buying a product manufactured in an increasingly authoritarian regime, one that is actively forcing minorities into prison camps
- Others may again prefer the move as they consider Taiwan a region of PRC in open rebellion
Sufficed to say it makes sense to mention. It was done only in passing, as a note that manufacturing had *changed*, without passing any kind of judgement or taking a stance. In fact, it was so minor I had to rewind to catch it. Anyone who *doesn't* care... Won't care. It's a perfectly reasonable change to note.
ANOTHER JUNK ON THE MARKET !!!! - YOU CANNOT DOWNLOAD AUDIOBOOKS YOU WANT !!!! GET LOST !!!
Please don't type in all caps, it cheapens your point
And no, if you watch you would understand that this is the polar opposite of "another junk"
It's a repairability features and planned obsolescence, which is the opposite of junk
