- This is the battle of ages. Well, not really, but still, these are both high-quality units and they are fighting in the same class, all things considered
Check out how they stack up against eachother!

The kobo app works on my phone. The pocketbook app crashed just trying to sign in. Kobo is repairable and looks better. I went kobo.
I'm waiting for somebody who compares the Kobo libra color with the Boox tab mini C. This size form factor is so comfortable and portable for me, ideal for comic reading. But I wanna know which one of those looks better.
Omg. I'm also looking forward to this review. It’s very important for me to compare how annotations with a stylus look in a book.
This is so helpful! Thank you
Thanks for that nice and detailed review . I own an ink pad 4 and kobo h2o , and the battery is a way better in the kobo ( weeks without recharge ) the ink pad battery is very bad , I have to recharge every 2 days after 8 month of intense use . If you have a compare I d like to know how is the battery on both device . Thanks
Will you be reviewing the meebook m103?
I like how colors look on Era more, to be honest. It seems like on Kobo, the shades are darker (yes, the black looks deeper, not as gray, but the rest of the palettes look less bright as well). However, the level of brightness on Era is really disappointing, especially for those who read a lot and don't want to recharge the device too often because it can't be comfortably use without a high level of brightness. Anyway, thank you for the review👍
I like how the Pocketbook looks but I've owned 2 of them so far (Pocketbook Pro 902 and Pocketbook Inkpad 3) and both get this weird gummy/sticky texture to the soft-touch finish they use after 2 or so years. It results in a horrible feel to the unit that can't really be fixed. Both devices have been in full cover, book-style cases since day one and kept away from all food and liquids. I'm looking that uses a hard plastic to replace my Inkpad 3 with but I don't need a color screen.
I’ve the kobo libra colour and just simply enjoy reading graphic novel and coloured manga on it. Though wishes the screen is just slightly bigger to full elimination need of zooming in some very tiny text on manga
Can I write and mark up directly on a downloaded Kobo book? I’m beginning to doubt that Amazon will add that to my Scribe. I’d switch, just for that
I wish you had shown an ebook to compare the text. Do they both have a screen effect when reading? Ghosting?
Thanks!
please compare kobo libra colour and boox tab mini c🙏
Thanks.
Kobo's is the better product for sure. Better looking screen and it's repairable
Repairability needs to become a main concern of any product review. We can't afford building or buying sleek-looking e-waste anymore.
Till they stop forcing accounts on me I'm going with pocketbooks
@@teptaylor I'm not buying neither since Kaleido sucks. I'm sticking to B/W until Gallery 4 arrives.
I just wish it were more accessible. I have dyslexia & speech-to-text & page reader features are tools I rely on that the Kobo doesn’t have & doesn’t talk about.
its interesting because i think the pocketbook colors look better to me. pretty cool how these ereaders are rolling out color tho. black & white only has kept me from buying one because i want to see my colorful book covers
I prefer the Kobos look.
This is an interesting video. Good job and you are improving at video editing skills.
Improving at editing skills. Wow
I have pocketbook era and kobo libra colour. I prefer pocketbook just because it can transfer book wirelessly via email. Kobo I have to use google drive which sometimes I find it difficult because sometimes some file doesn’t appear in the folder
Can you use Kindle and Kobo apps on Pocketbook Era?
@@memori365 nope you can’t. It’s doesn’t run on android
This is utterly weird. I've never had any issues transferring files wirelessly with my Kobo Libra Colour when I'm using either google drive or send.djazz
you forgot kobo is also 100% hackable, nothing is blocked and if you know some coding and linux, you can customize and install so much stuff. kobo wins in every single way and since always
No we did not forget, we are not legally allowed to condone routing, or modifying the base device
@@goodereader it is my understanding that kobo doesn’t care about what users do with the device in that sense ? So I don’t think it’s illegal (otherwise they would lock the OS like Amazon) although it is true that it’s for advanced users so no point in advertising it much anyway
Flush screens are a plague in ereaders, most products are going with that crap flush screens with no contrast and it's becoming more difficult to find a good product. Kobo is maybe the only one left with a decent contrast sunken screen.
You're flat out wrong about the pocketbooks color, you just have to go into the settings themselves vs being a drop down. It's shown in several reviews!
The back of the Era looks like a quite cheap mousepad to me. 🤔
Looks like it won't last too much
These e inks are still too dark without backlight which is why you would want an e ink, to eliminate any artificial lighting. Wonder why technology still hasn’t evolved for us to have the real pen on paper feeling.
Don't completely agree with you. In a well-lit room I can use my eReader, but I find reading much more comfortable using 20-30% front light, in my case. I did not always feel that way.
