      I wouldn't be so dismissive of the 2 million RM buyers as "stupid consumers" who don't do research. It's because the remarkable cannot do these things, that they buy it. It's not a marketing trick, they genuinely have the idea to be as close to paper as possible. I don't want a clock on my paper reminding me of the hour and minute I need to do something. It's a distraction. I don't want sliders and buttons to determine the shape and depth and velocity of my writing. I don't want apps.
      I want to grab the marker, and write my thoughts and take my notes, then go home. This is the primary reason people are buying remarkable. It does less. Because it does less, it is popular. The best tech marketing is RUclipsrs, and ALL e Ink RUclipsrs share the thoughts you have now, and every remarkable owner has seen them and is aware.
      The boox 10.3 is phenomenal device, but it is not distraction free, it's extremely cluttered and distraction oriented, and so when I really sit down, I'm using remarkable all day.
      That, and the writing experience of actual paper and pencil feeling is God tiers above the boox.

    People talk about the simplicity of remarkable, and that's the good thing with it, but forget that many people use specific apps to read or to study.
    Me personally, as someone who is a university student, and also tries to learn Japanese, being able to download my university files at any moment, or open my Japanese dictionary app, just makes my life so easier. Othewise, I would need to either have my phone or my laptop with me, and us both the e-ink tablet and the other device simultaneously.

    The Real question about the Booxs e-readers is How long will Android 12 be supported because just like it is an Android tablet there's things like security updates and so on that will be dropped, and since we're about to be on Android 15 This worries me for such an expensive device

    • @annvoy7698
      @annvoy7698 2 месяца назад +2

      I would never put sensitive data on it or use it for sensitive browsing, so for example no online banking, chatting, or any client data. Thus I don't really care how old the Android version is. For apps, I don't really want other Android apps on it apart from some reading apps. I have far more issues with Boox not offering any software updates after 3 years so my Note Air, which I got 4 years ago, had its last update in December '23 with 3.5, though the device is still going strong. That's what I love about Supernote: the Android version doesn't matter, but the A5X will get software updates for a much longer time than 3 years.
      Now I'm torn, because I would love to have 300 ppi, though I have been fine so far. The Go 10.3 is very tempting, as I love the design, but I need lights. So I'll wait and see what the Note Air 4 is going to bring to the table.

    Your video kind of tells me why the remarkable wins in terms of basic note taking and focus work. As an Ipad user, I get all the other apps on that tablet, so I do not need the eink for that. The only thing missing for me at the moment would be Kindle or other reading app. However, I do think the Boox Go 10.3 is a good move by Boox to get back to the basics of note taking and productivity versus just making e-ink tablets. Btw, you can use the remarkable app on your phone to take voice notes (Transcripts), copy over text and so forth, so definitely does the job still..
    I am an engineer as well, so I can see the temptation to want a jack of all trades device. However, people have actually been happy with a single purpose kindle reader for years. Same thing with paper note books, those are still selling well. I think most users just want to get to the point of the task at hand with simplicity.
