- I was recently inspired to turn my hand to recreating the Countdown and Idents used by BBC World back in 2000. It took a week and a half longer than I expected it to, and I tried to make it as accurate as possible, despite only having access to low resolution versions as my reference.
The animation was done with a combination of After Effects and 3DS Max.
Original designs created by Lambie-Nairn
Creative Director: Martin Lambie-Nairn
Senior Designer: Nicola Mills
Original music created by David Lowe
The way this feels extended is like the power failure in 2000 where it was shown way too early and longer like this
This is extrordinary work, this really ought to have more appreciation that it currently has.
Thank you
@@mdtauk hello! nice work!
24 hours a day around the world this is BBC World!
BBC idents such as Countdowns made you feel pumped for something as plain ordinary like breaking news. You have done a splendid job here!
With news and information 24 hours a day. This is BBC WORLD.
The BBC definitely needs to bring this theme tune back for it’s new news channel.
I have been following the BBC Countdowns since 1997. This HD recreation is extraordinarily good. We all have to be careful of video retro-manipulation taken out of context. Still, in context, this is beautiful. Well done.
This brings back memories, and it brings 'em prettier. Thanks for the terrific job!
C'est un super générique. Il est exactement comme le vrai. 😃
Just stretched out
BBC News. The best idents and news intro from the UK.
Slick and modern yet to this day.
Fantastic creativity involved, first class, would take me years to perfect these outstanding designs - well done sir! 👌.
It really looks like it's taken straight from the broadcast. Good job!
Patryk Wieczorek I
it is pretty much 1:1. exactly the same music detail and animation. outstanding!
2000-2003 era best BBC World theme.
In 1999, it launches a countdown, so if this starts earlier, the screen remains static at 10, until the pips starts.
Christ this is good. It makes me want to remove my old one from RUclips! My only gripe is that the BBC World logo fades up a little late - it should be dead on 0:46 in time with that cymbal sound. Still five stars though - truly outstanding.
I think the video is slightly out of sync with the audio, notice the frozen frame at the start of the title animation.
@@paianis i think thats on purpose
@@paianis I think the frozen frame was there because it was there in the real sources
@@Windfarmer The recordings of the original broadcasts on this site suggest otherwise.
Another sidenote I've noticed: The BBC World Intro 2000 uses the final segment of *BBC World - TV Mix* with the end on loop.
Doughnut, man: okay, we’re back for that video
0:00 - 0:31 - Background Theme
0:31 - 0:41 - Countdown
0:41 - 1:54 - BBC World Waiting Screen
This is extraordinary work, time BBC World 2000
This is brilliant! Thank you for creating this masterpiece!
Looks exactly like the real thing. The real difference is that it's in 1080p HD
R.I.P. BBC World 🪦
1995-2023
No need any improves. That's really correct. Nice work!
It's really really great!! Congrats!!!!
Invisible director: wow, is that the mascot of the BBC world animation bumper?
What did you do to make this freaking masterpiece?
What a good recreation video! :)
Very well done, looks nearly identical! Just soften the edge on the animating ovals
This was beautiful!
The best news theme in the world
I Love BBC World 😍🥰🤩❤ and it should be in the future
Invisible director: whoa! is it going!?
Thank you so much for doing this.. :-)
Invisible director: wow, is that a timer clock is is it that the time of the BBC News wheeled wheeled wheeled wheeled wheeled wheeled wheeled wheeled?
I saw a still of this on TV Forum
Wow this is great
Do you think about working at BBC as an Animator? This is brilliant and actually, in my opinion, better than the Intro that theyr'e using right now. Very good work. But from where did you get the music?
David Lowe Released An Album With The BBC World Music Inside It, I Think He Got It From There.
@@JackLucasCaffrey he did. and suprising how detailed he was able to make the music the same.
and besides, this is the BBC World 2000 intro. it isnt original, but it is SPOT ON, not even the resolution gets in the way.
+Jerrod Factor I did try to match it up to the source videos I was looking at.
Invisible director: oh sorry
Now the BBC world logo is appearing
Scary man: where are we
Robot: well where are we
Doughnut man: The BBC world 2000 are weird
Doughnut, man: no, you need to supposed to say BBC world
The power failure, in HD!
Amazing work!!
Me: was thinking of the 2000 power cut
Scary Man: dude you you’re just talking about the BBC world 2000 you begin this
Robot: scares by scary man
Great job! :-)
The others: where are we
I want to ask you
can you try to make the BBC News Countdown in 1999's recreation or you can try to recreate the BBC World Mock in 1999's Mock?
I wanna see them
Invisible man: …

this is perfect, do you have the widescreen source this is from?
Do you have like a music theme for the "coming up" section?
0:00 - 0:30 I need music of this kind
Why did the 10 countdown stay static if it came on early?, It's cool but idk why it did that
I assume they wanted a 10 second countdown leading out of the advert break at the top of the hour, but needed extra footage when there were not enough trailers to time things perfectly.
In time this became 60 seconds and now you have 90 seconds and a version which feels like a loop without any numbers or crescendo
Almost no changes since 1999
Noob: where are we
It looks brilliant. Tell me, you will not recreate saver national news at the time?
Didn’t new by BBC News 2010 countdown
I don't even get why there was a big-ass delay in the beginning but it is much better tho
I imagine it is there so what ever region comes back after its adverts, it doesn't have any dead air
Invisible director and noob: what
"This is BBC World."
1997-2008

Hello from Russia 😄
That’s enough of that for story bye!
I can say that the ten-second World countodwn is my favourite... The one they changed it for was ugly, graphically ugly, and the music wasn't as good and upbeat...
