This video is 100% and correct. He's simply trying to show how to perform the proper technique for the breast stroke and that is why he's doing it very slowly. While this video is somewhat done poorly, several times he's trying to show how to do it wrong but to someone uninformed will not know what he is doing wrong or right because he is seemingly going very slowly in all cases.
That guy was AWFUL. Not one second of glide whatsoever; no efficiency. MARSOC may want to REALLY consider hiring an actual SWIM COACH to teach the true technique behind the stroke. This is coming from a former Marine WSQ, water safety instructor and lifeguard instructor.
That kick is pretty unorthodox for breaststoke. I'll have to try it out but that looks like it puts a lot of pressure on the knees. I could see it not using much energy but it seems significantly slower than a traditional breaststroke kick. Anybody have experience with this style?
As somebody who actually HAS gone to MARSOC Assessment and Selection who is also a Scout Swimmer in the Marine Corps Infantry, if you do what is shown in this video you will fail the events. To be competitive at A&S you should be swimming 500m in under 9min. I'm actually pretty confused by this video.
Could you link me a video you recommend? I’m getting ready to go this route my self, and like a dummy I used this video as a reference to build my stroke
@@Bornwater at A&S I used breast stroke, there are many videos on the internet for that, look at the competitive athletes for the standard breast stroke. When you wear cammies and boots, you may have to modify Slightly by gliding longer between more powerful strokes (the cammies make a lot of drag, and you want the flat face of your boots facing behind you. At Scout Swimmer we all used the combat side stroke with fins. They will teach more technique there. I recommend using the combat side strike anytime you are slick, and using breast stroke any time you have boots/cammies on. Look up combat stroke on youtube and you will find variations. I will post a variation of my swimming technique on RUclips this month.
Yeah man you're probably right. I hope that people aspiring to be Raiders are just going to do some research on how they can become more efficient at this stroke instead of basing it off of this.
+RimTubeForGirls maybe. however, I DID go to a&s. I finished and passed all the qualifications with way higher scores than needed. and I will tell you this video is fucking bullshit. if you swim like that, you will fail. you want to be a better swimmer? watch Olympic swimmers.... they don't swim like that and they are the best swimmers on the planet. swimming in rough seas, watch how seals swim. they are the best divers in combative history. I don't know what POG ass wipe thought this would be a great representation of the Raider community.
As a former high school swimmer(which is honestly not impressive or a big deal) I can't even watch this guy attempt to demonstrate a breaststroke. Just complete garbage. What is his 100m time, like 2 minutes and 30 seconds. He is in fact keeping his knees too close together as he instructing not to do this. Smh. If you want to learn the breaststroke from a marine, check out a JimmyDshea swimming video, he may not have been a MARSOC marine, but he can demonstrate this way more efficiently and he was indeed marine
as a Highschool swimmer making it to states every year for breast stroke they aren't going for speed they're going for efficiency doing a speed breaststroke and getting your arms out of the water and bringing hands up to where your torso is out of the water isn't efficient for distance
Malik efficiency is only half the formula, MARSOC swims are timed as well, this breaststroke would net a 4 minute 100 meter, it is absolute garbage in terms of efficiency, the glide is super important in breaststroke and this guy has 0 propulsion

Seems like they chose the worst swimmer in Marsoc to make this video.

Cole Lawton which swimming techniques did you use throughout A&S and as a scout swimmer?
Could you link me a video you recommend?

He’s a MCIWS, I wouldn’t talk sh!t in the comments he knows what he’s doing and what he’s talking about
This guy isn't getting any propulsion from his kick and his arms are cutting it a little too short
Just saying man, it's not like you will either.
He's just showing an example though, I know he's not going that slow from those movements if he was actually trying.

Cole Lawton oh yeah right.
Thanks Sgt!
Lmfao literally no propulsion from his legs..
Literally a MARSOC Raider teaching about a swim stroke, not actually trying

What he says is true, but the video does not show the proper kick! You need to re-do this video, please!
I turned this off because it is an example of what not to do.
No your just dumb that's a raider demonstrating what to do not actually swimming 😳
@@uttermostvids631 you clearly have no background in these things
@@dieterh.9342 your obviously just kind of stupid
That is the worst swimmer ive ever seen in my life XD
But he's in MARSOC.........so..........uh............yeah
Justin u ain’t lying...
This is horrible. That's not how you want to do your breast stroke. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
