I consider cemetery gates to be one of the finest pieces of music ever written.
You’re gd right
Such a shame everybody reacta to the inferior video version
100% correct! It takes some genius to come up with a song like this! The song is about 2 friends of Phil's that committed suicide
I put it right up there with Mozart
Sorry you've lost your parents Lilly ❤️. I also have lost my parents. Time doesn't heal the wounds just only lessens them.
When Pantera makes you cry, you metal 😢🤘
The lyrics lament the death of a female lover and the narrator reflects on rejoining her in the afterlife. Regarding the lyrical inspiration, Phil Anselmo told Music Photocalypse: "There was a friend who had died in New Orleans and it had a real heavy impact within my group of friends."
This version unfortunately cuts out an awesome instrumental at the start that builds up into where this one starts. That's why it started super loud and fast. "DOMINATION" is my most replayed Pantera song by far.
It's not just instrumental. There are also lyrics that got cut out when they lost that part of the song for the video.
every reactor makes this same mistake. It sucks!
@@cookypuss8603 Not the reactors mistake. The beginning of the song was cut off for the music video. This is the official music video for this song, and it's always been this way. I don't know WHY the decision was made to alter it from the album version (unless it was to fit it into a more "Mtv-freindly" time block), but there it is.
@@philpennington826 I here ya. I wasn't really blaming the reactor just saying it sucks in general that most react to official video. I've seen a couple reactions that have the full song via lyric video. Some official videos can ruin a song.
I was watching you Lilly, during that solo.
I LOVE so much that Dime made you cry.
He touched your wounded soul and shared a piece of his kind nature and good spirited vibrations from beyond the grave.
RIP Dime. Truly sorry for what you’ve been through Lilly.
This is why we’re here.
Amén to everything you said. All so very true! 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️🎶
This Love - Pantera
This song is really great and it's so powerful and has such a great guitar solo gives me chills RIP Dimbag
Dime Bag was the fucking truth. RIP. Regarding the Imagery of the living person running towards the loved one passed away... Chasing Ghosts. Fear not. I firmly believe "there's a little piece of Heaven in every human heart, and if you are lookin for a loved one lost, that 's a real good place to start." (Turtle Barz) The loved ones that have passed on are as near to you as your heart. True death only comes when you are forgotten. Happy new year, @Lilly Jane Reacts
"This love" is one of my Pantera favorites. The way the main riff mimics a beating heart and the beautiful Dime solo. 🤘
Dimebag still touching people's souls. RIP DIMEBAG! You'll learn to never stop a Dimebag solo!😎
For me, the song that hits different was always Floods. The outro is a gift to anyone with ears.
Floods & The Sleep are my favorite Dime Solos 🤘🏼
I wish the outro was a full instrumental track.
Pantera is kinda like Alice In Chains to me. It’s almost impossible to pick a favorite because I love them all!!!!!
I saw Pantera twice in 96’ & most of my favorites aren’t what others would choose!!
I love Live in a Hole, Message in Blood, Psycho Holiday, Slaughtered, By Demons be Driven & I also love DOWN!!!!
@@jeremeywilson2318 funny you mention AIC, that’s my favorite band of all time and to me AIC and pantera were the kings of the 90s. Suicide note pt1 always sounded heavily AIC influenced, makes sense since the 2 bands were close especially Jerry and Dime/Vinnie who became friends pre AIC and and pre phil pantera. Neither band ever missed in my book. I’m right there with you tho, too hard for me to pick favorites with bands like AIC and pantera, Mastodon for me too but that’s obviously a little more modern than AIC and Pantera
Best ooutro ever
Damn. I just want to hug you, girl. My father had a stroke driving, crashed, and died in my arms on the side of the road when I was 14 years old.
I feel you.
Great reaction. I first heard Pantera in the early 90s when Vulgar Display Of Power came out. Metal was burning out, grunge was the big new thing. Pantera was a huge breath of fresh air to the metal genre. In February 1993 my dad died after battling cancer for over a year. I listened to this song alot in the 90s. Everything about this song is iconic.
That guitar riff, how the slow parts express the sorrow and grief you feel while the heavy parts express the anger and rage you feel. Dimebag's guitar solo. The matching triples at the end with Dime finishing it off . Even the chorus to me meant reaching a level of acceptance and being able to move forward and start healing. For me, it seemed I found Pantera and this song at the perfect time in my life. Sadly, I never got to see Pantera live. .
This is part of the magic of music to help us heal. Saddest Pantera song would be "Hollow" it's about someone in a comma. Pretty heavy lyrics on that one.
One of the top 5 metal bands of all time easily. I was lucky enough to see them a few times when they were all alive.
I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s hard to go through all that. I lost my grandpa(my first grandparent to die) in April 2022. It’s tough and this song had a new meaning for sure! We love you Lily ❤
Strength Beyond Strength is my song that I love from Pantera and can't hear enough.
You always make my day better!
Same to you Jacob!! (:
@@lillyjanereacts ❤️
1. I love the way you analyze songs.
2. Who is your favorite guitarist?
3. THIS is my favorite Pantera song.
Sorry for your loss. My son got killed last year in car crash on Christmas day. It sucks. I listened to that song on repeat. I met my wife listening to pantera "walk" but another good one is "this love"
As for favorites, I love all PanterA.
Mouth For War Is A big favorite.
But there is just something about the riff structure of Revolution Is My Name. That song is just fire to me.
My condolences for your loss Lilly, but one things for sure your parents raised a fine, strong, smart women.🙏🥰 Hugs and Aloha from Hawai’i 💗👍
I've lost my dad in july in ukraine, this song now hits harder...
About the song that i cant stop listening to, its definitely "floods", best pantera song imho
The original song is longer and has an acoustic intro (this is the edited video version)... Def worth checking out 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Yeah, she definitely should have reacted to the song itself without the music video since the music video cuts out the acoustic intro.
13 Steps To Nowhere is EPIC !...I could listen to it on loop all day !
😇❤❤❤❤
The vocal back and forth with the guitar was something they did in practice sessions so Phil could scream longer on pitch while using less breath..
Ive heard this song a billion times and i love it , but when you teared up i did too ! Its so awesome to see this heard and seen through fresh ears and eyes . It makes me feel it all over again like when i first heard it . Thank you and im very sorry for the loss of your parents . I lost my dad and countless friends . I get it .
Ive been a follower for a year or so now, and bruv your introspectives are so deep, and almost always spot on. Girl, youve got a huge heart and a enviable ear to go with it. The way you decipher the tempos and put each instrument into story mode, wow! Keep it up, love this channel.
Floods is the one I play over and over. One of the most beautiful guitar solos by dime.
Floods. My first concert was Pantera back in 95. And i feel your pain. I lost my dad when I was just 11. I lost my mom 6 years ago. And lost my leg 2 and a half years ago.
Really appreciated this reaction.
Hugs for you, and the losses you've experienced my friend. I've experienced a lot of death in my life too. And songs like this pull at my heart strings now in a way I couldn't have understood when I was 15 (when this song was fresh and popular).
To be honest this has to be the best reaction to a song I’ve seen so far
Sorry for your loss!! Hollow is another awesome song about losing a loved one.
This is one of the songs i can play anytime as well as this love and drag the waters are my favourite! Becomings great too!
Mine was "This Love".
Eileen Senpai said when she heard this song that Pantera has two vocalists, Phil and Dime's guitar.
Such a great reaction! You are so real and sharing yourself and being so transparent. It's inspiring and uplifting to see the power of metal move you. Those that don't get metal will never know how much they are missing. A favorite of mine that is Dimebags best work in my opinion is "Floods". I also love "The Art Of Shredding" and " Mouth For War". Also check out "Becoming". Again I loved this reaction!
Dime Bag was definately one of the best. My favorite Pantera songs are ...the one you just played, only the longer version, 5 Minutes alone, Broken, Domination (from the '91 Moscow concert), Walk, Cowboys From Hell, This Love, Floods, Drag the Waters, Revolution is My Name....I don't think there is one I don't like. MORE PANTERA!!! 💥💥💥💥
That thing about the guitar and emotion was one of Dimebag's genius abilities! Nobody made emotion pour from a guitar like him! Slow or fast, high or low he was amazing! I'm 51 and was dealing with life when pantera hit big in the late 80's early 90's so I missed going deep into their music other than Walk which was played a lot on the radio. I grew up in rural Va. so MTV wasn't an option. lol
Rise. That is the song I could not stop playing when I heard it. Please do reaction video it's an underrated song that needs live
The Pantera song I couldn’t stop playing was This Love
As always another great reaction Lilly J. Listen to this song alot when I was sad after losing someone, then when I was angry because of it, I listened to Becoming, and Revolution is my name. Sending love ❤ your way, for your losses as well.
Pantera is on tour for the first time in like 20 years. Not sure where you live but check it out. We are in Pittsburgh and just went to the first show on Friday! Amazing.
You’re the best Lilly. The way you feel & get music!!
thats some gold right there and that terrific solo actually 3 parts to that Phil's voice as a rock and heavy metal singer you know that a young adult and being able to convey that thats gold right there
I lost my step father, my younger sister, my nephew (that sisters child), my grandmother, and my grandfather all in a time span of 6 years - almost one year after the other. God comforted my soul. You are still young. One day, you will look back and understand. Its never understood in the moment nor for years. Pantera is an awesome band. They have lost 2 members. Dimebag Abbott and Vinnie Paul.
Great react and your not alone who felt in love whit Dimebag guitar❤ !! For the 1 love the most its
" This Love " whit the words play they mades !
Dime still my favorite guitar god, even 19 years. R.I.P. Dime, R.I.P. Vinnie.
About listen Pantera's song to listen "over and over again" - this is "Mouth for War". This song blows my head off. When I started learning to play the guitar, the first thing I started learning was this song.
Awesome reaction. I could feel your loss. Thank you for sharing with us.
Wow, I'm really so sorry to hear that you lost both of your parents, cause I'm sure that has to be so hard. I love your reactions and you are such a beautiful woman inside and out... keep up your spirits and your awesome reactions....The one song from them is called "Hallowed", which is about a guys friend who is in a coma and dying and he wishes he could get through to him, and how much he and his family misses him and wishes he could come back to them. This song hits me on a personal level, cause I went through the same thing with a friend of mine, who was in a horrible car crash.
Floods. The one song that never gets old from Pantera.
Dime brought it to a song in 96 from riffs he was doing in home videos in 88.
Gotta check it out. Heartbreaking and beautiful guitar
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your parents. Phil's a poet. His lyrics are great. You're gonna like this band. Bust out the lyrics and listen to some more Pantera. Enjoy! Lords Unmatched!
your reaction made me cry, that was real cool, i MISS Dime SO SO much, i remember the day we lost him, metal was never the same for me, how you say Dime captured the feeling of loosing someone in a guitar solo, and its so right, its got so much emotion and feeling, a song i really could not stop playing, and playing on guitar is, the art of shredding, and herecy, but really could not get enough of any pantera, thank you so much for shareing your reaction, really appreciate you, and i really enjoiyed your video.
my favorite reaction to this solo ,feel the same way ,all the best
Thanks for the video Jane, is awesome.
Another fantastic Pantera song to check out would be Hollow… it’s another slower song at the start but a heck of a banger by the time you get to the end… similar topic and emotion.
You just reacted to it thank you so much have a great night
The Sleep.
The Sleep solo is one of the best guitar solos ever.
Pantera - Floods! Best metal song ever.
Im so sorry bout your parents my prayers go out to you...and the ultimate pantera song is Domination....
Thank you Lilly for your heartfelt reaction that was truly inspiring ❤
I feel the same way lilly this song 🎵 hits hard for me to I have lost people that meant the world to me so I feel your pain angel 😇 100
Love your channel,Lilly!!!! Keep it up👍🤘🤘
WOW!!! you absolutely nailed this song 💯 by far one of the best reactions to this legendary track.
One of my favorite songs of all time. Great reaction Lilly
Loved the reaction Lilly. This is the band and song that got me into heavy metal back in the early 90s. This song is beautiful, emotional and powerful. One of the greatest guitar solos of all time. RIP to Dimebag Darrell and Vunnie Paul. They may be gone but there spirits will live on forever. 🙏❤
Awesome reaction ... You have a great ear for guitar solos... that guitar solo still makes me tear up 30 years later.. this is the song..
I think you would love Floods by them. The atmosphere the song creates is beauty, horror, and devastation. One of the greatest guitar solos of any song ever. And that's a big statement.
I'm sooooo happy you got a chance to experience this song! Great choice!
That is so great of you to share that vulnerability of yourself. I am so sorry to hear you lost your parents. I can’t even fathom. My heart goes out to you, regardless of however long it has been. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
My all time favorite song from Pantera is actually an acoustic, and I wish they did more of them. Phil’s voice was beautiful and magnetic as can be heard here, and always raw. Regardless of song. “Suicide Note Part 1” is the song. “Floods”, and “10’s” are really close though. Cemetery Gates is up there, “Hollow” is another great and sad song about loss, and Pantera’s cover of Black Sabbath’s “Planet Caravan” is pretty great, too! Some other notable greats are: “This Love”, “Domination”, “Primal Concrete Sledge”, “5 Minutes Alone”, “Shedding Skin”, “Throes of Rejection”, “Heresy”, “Revolution is My Name”, “Where You Come From”, and “Avoid The Light”.
I tend to enjoy many of the songs that are not the singles or big hits.
I think it's basically every Panthers song I can't stop listening to! But,cowboys from he'll and walk are what you should do next
She already did walk
Love this song. Loved your reaction. ❤️
Amazing watching you jam to stuff I grew up on. I also love the heart felt and intelligent analysis. Great reaction channel for metal aficionados. Subscribed!
Walk was my first ever Pantera experience and still love that song!
The song screams anguish throughout. From the lyrics to the guitar solos just pure anguish. I lost both my parents too so I am sorry to hear you lost yours. I lost my Dad at 13 and my Mom when I was 19. Fucked me up for awhile. But it does get better. You never forget but it gets better. Love the channel!
Good reaction. I feel you, girl!
I lost my father in 2020, now this song always bring me tears in my eyes. It's good to have something that touch us. Pantera is one of this bands that shake us in many ways. I recommend you Floods and Hollow to react to. Stay safe and stay high!
i listend to "walk" over and over again love that song
The music video cuts out the first 2 minutes of the song, I recommend listening to the lyric video as it has the intro to the song, and it's a very beautiful intro
Cemetery Gates is a perfect metal song
My condolences to you and your family hope all is well. I just lost my sister and grandma late '22 and honestly this song puts me in the feels I first heard it when my dad played it when I was younger and he told me he thinks about his dad who passed.
I worked for them back in 89 just before they got signed by the label and had heard all the cowboys from hell songs right after they wrote them and before they recorded any of them, basically the getting the song perfect phase. They were a tight group even in the club band days. When I first saw pantera there was about 10 people in the whole club.
I love how you described that. Music/Sound is much powerful than we think
The end of that phrase:
“all alone as the memories now unfold.”
That’s an A bro! Nuts.
And those high wailed “Gates!” at the very end start at an E above that high A and then it goes all the way up to the A above that even!
That is some serious vocal power that would put even the most seasoned Opera singer to shame.
Seriously dudes, go to a piano and plunk out G# to A. That’s “unfold/remain”. Try that without your falsetto. I’m pretty sure it’s all his chest voice. The E and then the A above that still sounds like his chest voice but he’s gotta be falsetto mixing there. There’s no way it’s humanly possible for that to be his full chest voice up there.
Craziness.
You nailed the reaction!!! That solo made me cheer and cry back in the day because of what I was going through.. Those two Texas brothers were incredibly talented... RIP!!
As a teen the song "fucking hostile " I played over and over the ending was the pinnacle
Loved your reaction, girl.
A long time ago, when this was new and so was I.......I think it's safe to say....
That it hit us all like it hit you.
Peace.
One Saturday night Headbangers Ball I saw the video Mouth For War. It was my intro to Pantera. It always was special to me
Awesome reaction, many can relate to... RIP Dimebag and Vinnie ..
Dimebag will soon become your favorite guitarist. There are so many insanely great Pantera songs. A couple of lesser mentioned ones are 13 Steps, and Shedding Skin.
I'm Broken. For me...best Pantera song ever. Then Cemetery Gates.
"By demons be driven" and "Becoming" are the songs I played over and over back then!
Thanks a lot. Very good reaction!👍
Beyond a beautiful reaction
8:17, without a doubt “This Love”, followed by “Walk”, “I’m Broken”, and “Revolution is my Name”.
Young lady, your interpretation of dimes solo was spot on to me I believe you are the only person,, who has felt that correlation awesome great job
Phil used to have a HUGE vocal range back in the day. He changed it up to a straight screaming approach, when “Vulgar Display of Power” came out in 1992.
God bless you 🙏🏻
The Pantera song I always come back to is "The Floods". It's Dimebag Darrell's masterpiece!
Pantera is one of those bands I'll always go back to for a listen. I was fortunate enough to catch them back at Ozfest 99'. RIP Dimebag.
