I have the 65 A80J. But agree with you overall features the C1 wins. If you are not a gamer then Sony’s picture and processing hands down. Both really great TVs. The A90J is plenty bright but too expensive for my budget. In my opinion LG also has Sony beat as far as willing to give you more for your money and not make promises it fails to keep.
Returning my A80j for a C1.. I’m tired of Sony promising features in updates. I can’t even get AirPlay to work.. the CX overall felt more HD and actually upscale 1080P better than the A80j.. if the C1 is better than the CX, it should be better then the A80j
I do not see in anyway how the C1 falls short to the A80J picture quality in particular. I continue to hear this, but it has yet to be proven. From my comparisons, the A80J does not appear any clearer, sharper, or more detailed. Yes, they focus on different things in a picture, but that's it. The LG can pull off the same quality and better by just turning on the picture processor in the C1 (text and outline sharpening). Sony has their processor on by default, except for in game mode. Even R-Tings does not review the processing chip in LG televisions, which is horribly unfair. There's more of a competition between the A90J (processor off or on), but you will have to learn how to calibrate your television while using the C1. 5 days left until I get my 55 inch one, 2022 sale price is down to £899 in the UK making it the best OLED screen you can get for the money. I actually only needed a 48 inch screen for my space, but the LGC1 48 is only £30 less, and the Gigabyte monitor with the same screen is stupidly priced at over £1000, and it only has 24 Gb HDMI ports as well as crap firmware and update support from the manufacturer. Sure I would have loved a new QD one, but they cost too much. I paid an extra £30 for installation, and £85 for 3 year accidental damage cover which the warranty doesn't cover.

I have it and it’s great. Buy it guys, no doubt! About the burn-in, I would suggest doing pixel cleaning from the settings for about 1 time per month. Great tv👌🔥
Just got mine and it’s literally the best overall TV on the market. Samsung QLED’s are junk and overpriced, whereas Sony’s OLED’s are great and “maybe” a notch better in picture quality, but not worth the +$1000 price tag compared to LG. Also the only non-OLED TV I would buy in this market is Hisense. Facts of life trust me y’all.
What? 1000$+ price tag? Here locally at Curry’s in UK they are both the same right now, no … the C1 at 83” a bit more expensive than the A90J … about 200£!

I hope the channel switching is easier. With the smart TV my parents recently watched, it has annoying lag ; particularly when the built in guide is on.
How’s the sound quality on the C1? I don’t want to invest in a sound bar + surround sound after buying this! Atleast not immediately! Isn’t 40 watts inadequate?
Great picture vs my 3 year old non-OLED LG 65” HDR with Dolby Vision, but… the stand and clearance is useless unless you like your soundbar covering the screen. My Yamaha soundbar Is over the picture by about 0.5” (it’s only slightly thicker than an Apple TV) - and the ARC HDMI cable, power and sub lead wrap around the wide stand, so you can still see them. My old one has space under the TV stand and more clearance. Clearance is just slightly less than my Apple TV’s height - so even that is covering the picture. Oh and the stand doesn’t come with install instructions. It’s purely guesswork (or searching RUclips). Stick it on the wall. That’s the only viable option for this. Or use the stand and stick it on a plank of wood… Crazy.
I have the G1 coming Friday. The C1 like the CX felt just a tab too dim at Best Buy. I have the C8 and felt the G1 looked closed if not better than the C8. C8 going in the basement, G1 will be the main living room PC.
Debating the c1 or g1 based on what you mentioned, the brightness. However, our living room only has one small window. So, I think I may be ok with the c1. How’s the g1 treating you?
@@TheSlugJones It depends where you're coming from to be honest. I've own the C6 and have the C8 in addition to a Sony 900E. If you're coming from a C6-7or Sony LED go with the C1. If you're coming from a C8-9 go with the G1. The 110 nits makes a difference and might be noticeable if you're coming from a brighter OLED. The G1 is not as bright as the C8, the C8 can almost hit 1000 nits on a 10% window (About 970 nits) and it's noticeable compared to the 860 nits or so the G1 offers. The C8 has better color handling with less sky dithering than the G1. With that said the G1 gaming features, less DSR, shadow detail, and over the air 4K overall makes it slightly better than my C8. So I like the G1 however if I had the C9 with 4K 120hz I would not have upgraded to the G1.

I'm thinking of buying the 65 inch. But, my living room is small. I would say I'm sitting around 7 feet back from my current TV right now which is a 42 inch 1080p SANYO. Best Buy has the 48 and 55 at a $100 difference. As a bedroom tv would it matter which I bought? At $1000+ price point I am not as concerned with 100 bucks.
How is it going with the 65”? I’m definitely getting this tv but I’m undecided on the size. I was going for the 55” but I would like to know an opinion on the 65” thanks in advance!
And a question, do you plan to review the Sony A80J and compare it to the C1. While most reviewers give the best OLED TV award to the overpriced (in my opinion) A90J, I would be interested in your take on the A80J/C1 comparison. Thanks again.
A80J actually has better upscaling for lower resolution content & is better for SDR gaming. It gets a little brighter or more punchier with colors. I am also leaning towards Sony b/c they are the only manufacturer to support DTS X. There is still a lot of physical media using DTS X. If you are an avid & competitive gamer, stick with LG. For movies/upscaling, occasional gaming can’t go wrong with the Sony.
If you have the money, ALWAYS go for SONY OLED over LG. Don't get me wrong the LGs are good UNTIL you place them beside SONY OLEDs. There is a reason why the top OLED tv for 2021 is the A90J and the A80J is better than C1
@@danielallopenna2326 Well, the A90J is great … the A80J in certain scenes is stronger and in others the A90J … for me the A80J was no option as no 83” available.
Eh, Sony OLEDS are not worth the money, but it's just a matter of opinion. Picture processing is just a gimmick Sony has fallen back on, but to each their own. If they are on sale, sure, then go for it, but the C1 is no slouch. I know what they both look like, and the Sony televisions offer nothing in terms of image quality compared to/over LG on an even playing field. This is something people who do side by sides on RUclips do not consider or compare. Yes, you will have to calibrate your LG to at least get a more accurate picture though, so if this is what you are saying, then I can agree with that, but otherwise, no sale.
@@TueenTuo I had the opportunity to test both and the A90J for my taste has the stronger picture quality and better handling. I initially bought the C1, but got an A90J to test … and the C1 went back, stood no chance. The A90J has this bit more punch and the black crush of the C1 is annoying, cannot be fully terminated. Even the hyped gaming features of the C1 do not significantly weigh it up as the gaming performance of the A90J with PS5 is simply amazing, significantly more detail and depth to it. Especially in direct comparison. E.g. in desert scenarios in games the difference is astonishing. Not even supporting DTS then disqualified the C1 for me, asides several other disadvantages. This does not mean the C1 is a bd one … I gave it a chance and went back to Sony. Especially as the A90J had the same price in 83” the C1 had.
I’m a little apprehensive to buy the C1. All the videos I have seen of the LG C1 don’t show much detail when it comes to dark scenes. This is my only gripe. When I saw A80J vs C1 videos, A80J showed more detail in darker scenes. Can someone please prove me wrong and show how to calibrate the C1 to improve image quality for darker scenes. I do want to buy this TV, it’s just the dark scenes that bother me from all the videos I have seen. Thanks
I checked both out at Curry’s … the A90J next to QN90A looked damn dark … but in movie scenes suddenly episodically was much brighter than the Samsung … the C1 compared to the A90J drowned in darkness … but if you are a gamer go for the C1.
Yeah, the black crush problem can be solved with a little tweaking, especially with the options you have in game mode, but without any black crush, the colors are better on the C1, and it easily matches the A90J in overall PQ.
@@GanymedeXD Yeah, with some tweaking, any black crush problems can be taken care of. I'm not coming from a place of bias, it just happens to be true. The C1 tends towards dark, as you will get darker shadows because of the rich contrast. It's only a possible easy to fix black crush issue that stops a C1 from winning outright, as it's the only thing preventing a lot of detail (shadow detail) from possibly being seen. The blacks are better as well, but they can both get pitch black. It's a matter of personal preference. They do things slightly differently from each other, and that's it. The Sony does highlights well (out of the box), but the C1 has much better contrast, etc. It really comes down to having a different opinion/whatever else. You are welcome to your opinion though, and I hope that you are having fun with your television. They are both good televisions. I ended up buy a 48" C1. It's great, and it's why I bought it after doing some digging on the best televisions. I ended up saving 2000 dollars. I kept seeing what other said, saw comparisons, checked it out myself, etc, after I bought it, too. They are both good televisions, but I do not have the placebo effect you have right now from spending that much money, but it suits me well enough. I mean, I can keep going, but I want to stop typing.
@@TueenTuo Plabebo effect? Lol … just as you can experience … tested both to excess … initially bought the C1 … not Sony … after I was able to have and test both side by side I clearly preferred the A90J … there were simply too many things I preferred the Sony in. And … why much money? And had both side by side and could have chosen any of them. The C1 in 83” here cost exactly the same so there was no difference at all regarding price. Indeed the C1 has a different picture, less detail rich and this does not refer to black crush, but regarding the black crush you never get as much shadow detail even after tweaking than with the A90J … the C1 was not bad, but side by side there remained a significant difference. Contrast, agree whilst the A90J has more detail, the C1 had more plasticity as it had more intense shadows. So up to personal preference and there was actually too much missing like DTS support.
I just got this tv 48 inch and set brightness to 60 because dynamic contrast I think crush black and look good ..id it bad to set brightness so high .I did black reference level test 60 os where its good for me

I’m still rocking my C6, C8, and E9 ❤️
LOL
Got my 48" C1 for my bedroom yesterday and let me tell you re village and doom eternal blew my mind away on that tv especially doom eternal with that flawless 4k 120fps. crazy stuff it's a must have tv if you got a Xbox series x perfect size tv for a small bedroom too and when I watch a 4k Dolby vision film i feel like I'm starting at a theater screen it's that good
Until you get burn in from gaming of course
Burn ins rarely happen in new tvs. And even if it does thats why u get the geek squad protection plan no problem at all
@@Fabian6980 I had a CX with burn in under 6 months, got replaced by a C1 that got burn in at 2 1/2 months. OLED is trash tech
@@drunkhusband6257 yeah you never had neither of those tvs lol
@@Fabian6980 I got an A80J now from Sony, no burn in issues, and way better tv
Just purchased the C1 55 inch to replace my Panasonic S64 plasma which still holds it’s own 8.5 years later. Just like the plasma blew me away years ago, so does the C1. While I’ll be enjoying the C1, my son will be enjoying the S64 Panasonic Plasma.
I have an s64 too, and about to buy a C1. How much brighter is the C1 compared to the s64?
QLED t90 is not junk
The Samsung QLEDs and LG Nano IPS look better, enjoy that burn in brah
@@drunkhusband6257 All these burn in talk is completely exaggerated by scared comment writers. Have the A90J and do not see any chance how this could happen. Plenty of protection mechanism in place that switch it off. Screensaver etc. Fell asleep on multiple occasions watching … shuts down or in regular use warns that the pic is too static. To cause burn in the same static picture must persists gor weeks! Samsung has no acceptable pic quality and there are no convincing other OLED alternatives either.
@@GanymedeXD It's not exaggerated when most peoples OLEDs aren't even making it to 2 years without burn in....The new Samsung QLEDs and LG Nanos look amazing, also brighter than OLEDs so everything doesn't look washed out.

If I just run 2k on my C1 should I just return it? It’s the same game everyday 6 hours a day. Feel like I’ll get burn in within 2 years. Have 15 days to return it, asking for a friend
I hope the channel switching is easier. With the smart TV my parents recently watched, it has annoying lag ; particularly when the built in guide is on.

The reviewer mentioned gaming as well. Don’t you worry about burn in?

I replaced my Samsung 55” with this in the 48”. I always felt the 55 was too big. But the back of mine is all black.

@@rap4live39 For my needs yes
It depends on the size of your room. In my small bed room, 55 inches is huge.

I am so freaking excited to pick this up!
It's definitely worth the premium. But I hate how thin it is top side. Makes it hard to handle.
I just bought this tv - looks like I picked a good one with no research!
If I didn’t care about gaming, would a CX be a better choice??
Picking mine up this afternoon. Stoked
@@hababacon very thorough reply. Thanks much! I’m going to have to make a decision before the end of the month, as I believe that’s when the sale that’s currently ongoing will end on some of them.
@@TheSlugJones Np, you might can get the C9 for 65 inch for $1500. Before my return window was I considered taking back the G1 and getting the C9 from liquidators sites. What I'm going to do in March when my C8 warranty is up, swap the C8 MB for the C9. C8 and C9 used the same panel, the C9 just had an extra switch on it to allow 120 HZ at 4K.

I'm thinking of buying the 65 inch. But, my living room is small. I would say I'm sitting around 7 feet back from my current TV right now which is a 42 inch 1080p SANYO. It's not a high end TV. The G1 is classed as the high end model. In saying that buy the C1 all day every day it's awesome :)
Really anything over $1K is high end. I'm guessing a very small percentage of TV owners have ones that expensive.

You can buy 2 of the 77 inch oleds for the same price as one 83 inch. Why is that?
Do these TV's have media players?
Well how much?
Can't wait to buy one!
Especially as the A90J had the same price in 83” the C1 had.
how about it's sound?
Tv has no sound. Need to make sound effects yourself. 🗣
The C1 is $1799 now
I’m a little apprehensive to buy the C1.
@@TueenTuo The colours on the C1 are brilliant, no doubt, but fully solved the problem with shadows consuming a lot of detail is not.
