since I always have two TVs in my living room and use one of them as a PC monitor, I think the best option is to use a QLED as the PC monitor TV, and then the other TV can be a QD-OLED.
LOL, have been using a 48" CX OLED since Dec 2020 as a PC monitor and have zero burn-in after thousands of hours of use, including a ton of PC gaming in games with static HUD elements.
@@mattspeer01 Thats weird both and a friend had burn in. maybe there is variances in displays. I have double the hours on the replacement with no sign of burn in
I have a wall mounted 48C2 in my office with my desk near the TV. I have dual monitors for my computer with a HDMI to the 48C2 for a 3rd screen. I have the Sonos Beam soundbar with rear surrounds, Logitech speakers on the computer, and Bose QC-45 Bluetooth headphones. Zero issues using the 48C2 as a 3rd monitor, watching streaming services, or watching Xfinity cable TV. Very easy to switch between audio depending on what I need to do day or night. I was going to pick the 42C2; but, the 48C2 was cheaper on Amazon.
The C2 appears to be the safe pick for 2022 but the consensus so far has been that the S95B (and presumably the A95K) QD OLED offers a significant improvement. Looking forward to seeing these displays go head-to-head.
The g2 is neck and neck with the hyped up Samsung. I have both. Def holds its own and doesn’t “destroy” oled like the hypebeast are claiming. Don’t get sucked into the hype.

I bought a 55” Samsung KU6300 when I first got out of school. It was the best TV I could afford at the time and it’s been a solid TV for me for almost 6 years but I moved recently and decided it was time to upgrade and the more I learn about these OLEDs the more I feel like I’ve really been missing out. I just ordered a 77” C2 so I’m pretty excited to see how big of a difference it really is from a 6 year old Budget LCD.
Same experience. Bought a 55” Samsung about 6 years ago… the best I could afford at the time. Bought a house last year. I just set up my 77” C2. It’s awesome. PS4 looks great. All my appliances are LG, so I decided to go LG. No complaints. I do think the Home Screen is “cluttered”, but it gives a new, fresh feel from all my other TVs, so I’m enjoying it for now. Cursor on tv is real sensitive, gonna take some getting used to. Hope you love your TV, and more blessings your way!
I'm seriously tempted by the 77" C2, especially with Costco's price at $2500 with their extended warranty. I'm currently still using my Samsung LED 75" 1080P, second model from the bottom that I bought in early 2014. Its been flawless and still looks very good on 1080i OTA, 1080P from my Firestick, Blueray, etc. I would like my next TV to have the new ATSC 3.0 tuner that the C2 doesn't have. Decisions, decisions.... Hope you like your C2.
I just purchased the 83" model. I cant wait for it to be installed later this week. It is a replacing a 75" Samsung that crapped out after only 6 years. Very disappointed in Samsung and have been told many good things about this LG so fingers crossed!
@@notthisguyagain8557 We love it. The size is perfect for our family room which has a half wall separating the kitchen so you can be in the kitchen and see the TV perfectly. The remote is very user friendly an the apps easy to use. We have no regrets purchasing it!
No mention that LG downgraded bfi (black frame insertion) on this model compared to the C1, and it's even more of a downgrade from the CX? No more bfi at 120hertz is a problem, we're supposed to strive for improvement not regression. I hope the other competitors can deliver in this area, still waiting for crt level motion quality to exist...outside of crts, which mine aren't going to last forever.
@@christianmarmol3230 who the heck are you to tell someone else what they care about? There are countless threads on reddit and other Home Theater forums with people complaining about several things LG has removed from their OLED TVS in recent years. I have to agree with the OP. So I'm over 2 years in with my 65" CX. Not anxious to "upgrade". There doesn't seem to be a compelling reason to do so. I watch mainly at night in a dark room and the very brightest settings are way bright, too much so really, and the picture quality is excellent. It seems you have to have sophisticated measuring equipment to tell the difference is various models. I think I'm gonna sit tight for now.
@Roc Move the pointer off screen, in the opposite direction you wish to go, to adjust it so that it points to where you want it to. There are small Braille bumps you can feel for in the dark before depressing the Volume or Channel see-saw buttons. From the Mouse Wheel count two buttons up, then go diagonally left or right. Yes, looking at the remote is faster, but it can be done in the dark (think "F" and "J" keys on your keyboard that helps with finger placement without looking down.) Personally, I never use the Home button as the screen becomes too cluttered. I use the Mouse button, under the Channel Change see-saw buttons, to go to my HDMI selection screen.
Would never buy another LG OLED , after being screen burn aware etc and adjusted the settings accordingly etc still happened 4 years after ownership. Done a swap between my 2 viewing rooms , just waiting for the 65 inch to do the same . Will be staying well clear of OLED .
I was thrilled too when I first got my LG Oled 65E7P but within 3 years of normal TV viewing the picture has degraded dramatically with color shading all over and burn in. LG claims 40k hours of life but I’m less than 1/4 of the way there and the TV is shot.
Not only has the hardware improved but they vastly improved the software part of preserving the screen, you just shouldnt plug it out of electrical socket. Your point is not longer valid for these models
Big Boys So you think it’s OK that LG won’t warranty their science project? We’re talking about a TV that is 36 months old and cost over $3k . Here’s a novel idea, how about perfecting the technology instead of making your customers a test bed for flawed technology.
Big Boys This shouldn’t be a normal warranty claim, LG Oleds obviously have a defect with their technology. They claim 40k hour life span and the TV is shot at 1/4 of the hours, this is a wide spread problem with these TV’s and LG knows it.
i was thinking about trying to sell my CX for something newer. I have a 55 inch also. may i ask what you sold it for and how many hours of usage you had on it? id also be parting with a best buy warranty with 4 years left that i never should have got in the first place.
Wow, this sounds like BS hyperbole. The CX to C2 comparison only involve a meager 5 percent "improvement" in picture quality. The biggest difference comes from the CX to C1, and if anything, the C2 is a downgrade from the C1. If we are talking BFI, then we have to look at how the C2 dims the screen far more and does not even have the 120hz option. This cannot be changed either, unless they decide to change the hardware limitations in the C2 down the line. They will not do this, as it screws over early customers and would require a reworking of the processor and software. The CX and C1 have this option, but then again, this comment seems more like a sarcastic joke than an ironic, insecure projection. If anything, I would simply get a C1 and wait a few years before an upgrade. After the C1, I would go for a more mature QD-OLED, which seems to be something that LG will not adopt. Unless they add something truly groundbreaking, the C1 seems to be the last hope for LG, micro lenses and phosphorescent blue or not. Good luck, LG, because you'll need it.
The C9 is bulletproof for me, it has the HDMI2.0 port built into one of the hdmi ports for "future use" you can probably grab one for cheap in 2023. I paid 4 grand for mine brand new in 2019. I don't use it as often as my Samsung 65in curved TV that sits in my upstairs living room, because I save all the good shows and movies for the TV in the man cave. The C9. I also don't game on anything but my Samsung, so my Oled should hold up for another 5 to 10 years, if we're basing the life of the TV on hours watched.
I have the Sony A80j. I sort of hate it. Okay, it does have a good picture, but the dimness and ABL especially for sports is awful. I'm considering going back to LCD. Maybe the humble Sony x90k. But should I give OLED another chance? Will I really notice a brightness improvement or will I find the ABL aggravating on this too?
C2 has less of a mirror like screen and a more purple tint to it also. It’s a little more matte and to me it’s not as clear and realistic PQ like my C1. Text is more blurry too. I guess I am just someone who notices these things.
Agreed. Never. Remember the processor needs to control every single pixel and every pixel creates its own light, 100 inches of that will always be pricey…
Surprised you didn't go over the weakness of the TV.. .. (besides burn in)... In general LCD can get much much brighter than OLED. This can be useful for HDR content some of which is mastered at these higher brightness levels... or just in general. Such as when you are a in a bright room and need something that can overcome the glare. OLED also has this aggressive ABL that tends to lower your already limited brightness when lots of bright stuff on screen..
I love the LG remote style and disagree with the reviewer. It's got the pluses of a smart remote with the helpful directional buttons, keypad, Volume/channel, etc...
I agree . I hate those remote that has less button, yes they look better but for me its not that useful LG remote are very easy to use specially for those countries that do not use set-top-box for their cables. LG remote also works better as universal remote if you have a set-top-box connected becauae of those number buttons
I get that but at very least they should renew the design, it looks so archaic compared to other brands TV. Maybe make it in other than black color would be a start ...
Agree. I won't buy a Samsung TV just because of their remotes. :D They had the touch screen remote and the remote without buttons and both were infuriating to use. Try finding an authentic Samsung "Universal" remote that can replace the minimalist button remote. Most are either after-market or they work poorly.
@@obidean3964 Yeah I agree, its definitely ugly but I really like the ergonomics of LG's magic remote, it's very comfortable, its function over form. I just hate the materials and I dont mind it being black as black can still look good even after years.
@@wallyjohnn6434 haha and the best thing with LG's remote is even your grandma and grandpa will be able to find it very easy to use specially the pointer feature, they are really use to using touchscreens nowadays and that pointer thing that LG has make it not a lot different to use from any other touchscreen devices they might have.

I want LG A1 to play some games, like my Summer car, GTA V etc Good to hear your good point about burning, i still fear it a bit although. But i watched a video of a guy that used it for one year With 2.500 hours of use [something like almost 7 hours a day in a period of one year} And nothing bad happened. In my opinion c2 is too premium, would be good they doing one more simply like A1 or even C1, because if I'm not mistake This new panel is less likely to have burning, so would be good having this without paying too much more. Specially for places like my country, here things come more than double the price 8:42 they did it, i talked too soon 💀
I'm looking to upgrade to an oled from a 2011 Samsung Plasma 51". But, all sales guys all say don't expect any improvement in picture quality when watching TV. Guess I'll wait till Plasma conks out!
Lol get out of here . No difference ?! Use your eyeballs. If you can't see a difference, invest the $ in a good set of prescription glasses. OLED blows anything out of the water, especially your 11 year old 1080p plasma. I had a 1080p Panasonic plasma till about 2019, then I got the 65 inch C9. Night and day.
Is there a known problem with the OLED panel eventually having some horizontal lines? Have a LG OLED 65 C2PUA, and there are some horizontal lines sort of dancing on the left side of the screen. Thank you 🤓
No. In fact, years down the road the area where the letterbox bars are will appear brighter from not being illuminated. OLED TVs technically don’t have burn in. The brightness of the pixels gets lower over time with accumulated use. We are talking thousands and thousands of hours though. I have a B6 from 2016 and a C8 from 2018 and have had 0 issues. Have watched thousands of hours of letterbox movies and also thousands of hours of gaming and both panels are still clean when I run color slides
samsungs UI is just as cluttered as LGs now. the s95b is annoying the ui because when you login the stupid movies/ads refresh. it feels quite laggy. Unfortunately, i dont see any manufacturer moving away from this as i assume this gives them extra revenue.

hi, just asking your opinion, comparing Philips 27B1U7903/69 and 32M1N5800A/69, can we say that those with Mini LED backlight gives you best of both world from IPS and VA panels?
Good review of the C2. However in my opinion the C1 still beats it in several areas such as build quality. From a side view the C1 is thinner and feels more premium and high quality compared to the C2 which feels more plastic and cheaper. I also do not care for the stand. Looks like LG took that idea from Samsung but at least they dont have the dreadful "feet". The PQ is not much of an upgrade from the C1 to justify replacing my C1 with it.
The only real image quality benefit that you get with the C2 is a minor increase in color volume. The brightness, shadow detail, and even the options for color gamut management are overstated and can vary between sets, i.e., a C1 can be brighter than a C2 if you're lucky or unlucky. You can also get much of the same image quality by simply calibrating the picture between the two. The features are the biggest "improvement," but they have also stripped features away or have added useless features. Many of these features like DVPD could've been added to the C1, but they have to add exclusivity to their new line of TVs. They may still add it, but it's currently an exclusive feature that mildly sharpens the detail in Dolby Vision. If anything, it just brings it on the same level as the C1 at this point, at least in DV. The C1 actually has the overall better, sharper, and more contrasty picture out of the two, meaning that it's color gamut appears to be a little better. I should also mention that the native gradation is better on the C1 than it is on the C2 and even G2, but the C2 is the worst. With the C2, you may get slightly less noise with near black detail (shadow detail), which can help clarity. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of overall clarity and detail (sharpness). The depth is also significantly better on the C1, and the detail always appears to look better. It's not to say that the C2 is bad, but it certainly isn't all improvements or better overall -- this is a fabrication. They just hid behind more marketing jargon this year, which is quite pathetic and sad.
I would not replace the tv after only one year of ownership. I upgraded my four year old 65” B1 with a 77” C2. My old panel was 60hz and had the older processor. I am upgrading the size and processor.
If you can ideally place both of them the right distance and the prices were within ~$200 of each other get a c2. Any bigger difference and it's probably best to get a c1.
Obviously Katz hasn’t experienced the 2022 Tizen OS and obviously hasn’t paid any attention to the S95B buzz. The later being a good thing as it’s best to have an open mind if he ever gets around to reviewing it.
I really appreciate your review a lot but one of the reasons I'm replacing my 6-year-old LG OLED is because I have noticeable burn in from the RUclips logo so don't be so sure you don't have to worry about burn in.
Forget wiring, the question is whether you can put a Sound Bar in front of the TV without obscuring the picture or the IR remote eye. The C1 has a channel on the rear for wiring maintenance, but side HDMI cables may still stick out. The C1 is shorter to allow the down firing speakers to extend their sound wavelength, using the table top surface as a speaker length extension. Sound fires down, then curves and travels along the length of the flat surface. I love the substantial, stable feeling base, instead of wobbly skinny legs on the sides of the bottom.
All reviews of premium TVs have to be vis-a-vis the S95b and A95k. I think the 65 inch C2 is a great option at $1,600 to $1,800 once they fix the latency issue. My biggest gripe is the blurry effect it has. It’s like a dirty window that you cannot clean compared to Sonys. But Sonys have ASBL issues…

Yeah, the C1 is better, and it looks better in every comparison I have seen. Yes, a few "reviewers" like HDTVTest and Keep it Fatty Tech will lie and and try to make one look better than the other, but this is obvious. The C1 has better contrast, depth, gradation, sharpness, motion, and overall detail. The C2 does have more shadow detail and color volume, but this does little to make the picture quality better. If anything, the brightness/gamma/chrominance overshoot makes the television look worse. Sorry, but it's true.
G2 only lg worth getting this year otherwise get a C1 great deals on them at the moment. If u got the dough get the Panasonic 77” LZ2000 released in July word on the vine is the sound it’s producing is pretty spectacular too when watching HDR content. The QD-OLEDS wait for 2023 and the TVs from pana etc. If your willing to take a chance on early 1st iteration of qd-oled then the Sony A95K is the way to go available to pre-order now in 55” but currently a max size at 65”. Till the larger and much smaller qd-oled panels are produced next year. Imagine the A90J but just way better with actual proper gaming support. I’m torn between a 77” LG G2 or waiting for the 77” Panasonic TX-LZ2000B. For movies and HDR the pana will take it but gaming the G2 might just take it until we know more about the real LZ2000 gaming stats in reviews etc. But both TVs fully calibrated the LZ2000 will win plus out of the box Panasonic are always very accurate, where as with LG it can be a bit of a roll of the dice on out of the box calibration. Still good but not like Sony or Pana. Panasonic priding themselves on reliable out of the box calibration and experience. If you’re thinking 8K it’s up-to you. But the bandwidth etc for streaming etc isn’t there yet. So save your money think 8K from end of 2024 mainly 2025 onwards! Especially UK make sure you got that super fast fibre internet for it when it comes. And QD-OLED 8K is going ato be huge in 2years with great deals then if the tech takes off and does well, which it will. If you already have a C1 or G1 or A80/90J or and high level decent oled that supports very good HDR and gaming. Then just hold out for the really good deals in the Jan 2024 sales. Also see where the QD-OLED tech goes and see what LG might have up their sleeve for 2023/24😉 because LG won’t be resting on their laurels and letting Samsung get to far ahead producing and selling QD-OLED panels to its rivals. So could LG come up with something even better and more revolutionary to replace WOLED and challenge QD-OLED. We’ll have to see. Also a massive mention, the new blue pigment currently being created and worked into production uses snd methods which will massively improve future panels has got to be taken into consideration. And If you managed to read all of that you must be as high as I am right now. Nice one.😁
I have a 65 inch OLED. It is less than 4 years old and even though I do not watch anything with a static display the panel has serious burn. Green blob in the center, each side of center, below the center, and starting to come up across the entire bottom across the board, looking like sharp, triangular shark teeth. This is not all burn in, as seen at the bottom. This is bad panel. LG only warrants the TV for one year!!! LG OLED is a gamble. Pay thousands and roll the dice.

since I always have two TVs in my living room and use one of them as a PC monitor, I think the best option is to use a QLED as the PC monitor TV, and then the other TV can be a QD-OLED.

You will not be disappointed
I'm seriously tempted by the 77" C2, especially with Costco's price at $2500 with their extended warranty. I'm currently still using my Samsung LED 75" 1080P, second model from the bottom that I bought in early 2014. Its been flawless and still looks very good on 1080i OTA, 1080P from my Firestick, Blueray, etc. I would like my next TV to have the new ATSC 3.0 tuner that the C2 doesn't have. It seems you have to have sophisticated measuring equipment to tell the difference is various models. I think I'm gonna sit tight for now.

Love the LG remote. Super easy to type with!
But the remote design looks basic and cheap looking!

@@Chris-gm4hk plenty of sheep certainly buying into the hype machine from paid "influencers" 😂😂😂
CX has perfect black and 120hz. tf?
You do a great job reviewing tvs.
The C9. I also don't game on anything but my Samsung, so my Oled should hold up for another 5 to 10 years, if we're basing the life of the TV on hours watched.
the lg c2 oled 55'' is pure class and amazing for gaming , i love it
I have the Sony A80j.
The remote and UI are the worst part about my C1. But I literally only spend 5 seconds using the UI so its no where near a deal breaker.
Agree, a huge step back compared to previous years.
Still on the 2019 series. Amazingly simple yet beautiful . I’m going to miss it if I ever upgrade
I have to disagree with you on QD OLED. The samsung is hitting 1600 nits in filmmaker mode without a heatsink. It's twice as bright as the c2 so....

C2 has less of a mirror like screen and a more purple tint to it also. It’s a little more matte and to me it’s not as clear and realistic PQ like my C1. Text is more blurry too. I guess I am just someone who notices these things.
When are we going to get affordable 100" oleds?

I'm hearing this is a go to TV for most people.

I have severe burn in on my 65C7, visable netflix and nickelodeeon logo and also in subitles area
At 5:26 you can see the c2 was brighter then the c1 or was it the angle?
@@TueenTuo great post and agree with you.

I really appreciate your review a lot but one of the reasons I'm replacing my 6-year-old LG OLED is because I have noticeable burn in from the RUclips logo so don't be so sure you don't have to worry about burn in.
I wish LG did a matte display. The glare on the C1 is so bad.
the stand is kinda narrow...is it shorter than CX , C1 stands? I prefer the old ones as we can hide wires behind.
it is much shorter. i like it. i like the old style too.

The C1 48” was different from the 55”+. Are they still different and what are those differences this time?
Yes, you won't get the EVO panel on the 48
skinny legs, old panel they still sell under EVO name because" it's more of a feeling" : same chip so lets brand it evo even though it's the old one.
Does the C2 sit at around 60 FPS or does the PS5 not push out 120 FPS unless you put it in performance FPS mode?
You can clearly see the difference in the brightness so not sure what you measured.
Don't bother with it, in Digital Foundry's latest podcast it has major latency issues and you have to reset the firmware to fix it constantly
If anything can be said about LG, is that they support their TVs with firmware updates for years.
After 6 weeks my 65 inch oled c2 got lines on screen for no reason going to return it to best buy.
Nice one.😁
Get the G1 not the C1. Get that Evo display like the current year models.
I dont see any blooming on my QN95A,best led tv from 2021😉😁✌️
Lg need to improve remotes feel so cheap and tacky, my dad got the Sony a8 oled in 2021 and it feels solid doesn't creek and is made of metal. Has a rubberised backplate which doesn't slip and the the whole back comes off to replace batteries so you don't feel a little battery tray flexing when you hold it.
QUESTION: Does Anyone have any first-hand experience with OLED Burn in? Care to share?
