      Sadly there is no G2 available in those sizes. Hate these oversized TVs. All I want is a 4k, 27" OLED monitor with high refresh rate, hdr1000 etc. But for some reason there's nothing to meet the massive demand for these, so I'm forced to look at TVs for the first time ever. Such a bad time for gaming hardware.

    • @rpospeedwagon
      @rpospeedwagon 2 года назад +1

      @@B.D.E. No. There's 4K high refresh monitors coming out about every month. That's good. Also, OLED panels are cut from larger "sheets." Presumably, the larger the TVs, the less wasted materials. Eventually the OLED tech will be available at smaller sizes and at reasonable prices.
      Just remember a 55" LG OLED was literally $15,000 in 2013. So, they've come a long way.

      Hey Paul,
      Thanks for the kind words, we really appreciate it.
      Unfortunately, this is a bit of a tricky one as we don't currently use a cable source for any of our testing. So, without having our own data, there's really no way for us to say for sure what will be best in this use case. We also wouldn't want to speculate and risk giving you incorrect information. That said, it may help to look at our scaling pictures where we display content of various resolutions and see how the picture looks on the TV. www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-c2-oled-vs-samsung-qn90b-qled/31229/32155?usage=1&threshold=0.10

    I've heard that the LG C2 is actually a excellent TV for a WRGB OLED. But now it seems like a lot of people have jumped ship and are on the Samsung QD OLED ship now. I understand new technology can be exciting but LG OLED has been around for awhile and most people who own them really like the TV's. QD OLED is a good match up of quantum dots and OLED technology but I still think the standard OLED technology is great as well.

      LG CX owner here. my next TV will be a QD-oled no question. LG has been too stagnant in tech progress since c9. qdoled is the next big thing no doubt. I need more impressions before investment, mainly on Sony's offering. Cause I can't wrap my head around Samsungs S95B's price tag while it excludes Dolby Vision. Dolby vision in games/movies is a game changer of its own

But I understand that its pic quality and HDR brightness in colors are leaps and bounds over any LG oled too. so I'm def not trashing their offering. But does dolby vision matter to you? I'm primarily a gamer, then movies 2nd. But when next gen consoles will be supporting Dolby Vision to perfect the long standing issue with tone mapping, a TV for $3,000 must have Dolby vision support to be future proof. I can't understand why samsung's qdoled supports every format but Dolby vision for that price tag. I'm waiting for rtings review of Sony's A95k. To me the extra $1,000 for dolby vision is worth it as long as it outperforms samsungs in all other depts as well. Because you're buying future proofing as well. But its worth waiting for the price drop on A95K just when Sony's about to drop their 2nd gen qdoled. I hate how TV's cycle like this yearly to force your decision. Cause then there's the issue that "what if the 2nd gen qdoleds are a must buy cause of tech advancements." Then you're left scratching your head on what to do. Unless you're rich of course and can just buy whatever/whenever. That's def not me lmao.

    Some weird results here that do not line up with every other review i've seen. 6:06 HDTV Test said that the C2 has better gradients than the C1, especially at 4K 120Hz. 7:27 These response times look like they were taken without Boost mode enabled. Other tests have shown identical response times to the C1 with Game Optimiser + Boost. Maybe these are regional differences, like how the US version has more crushed blacks than the UK version, and it's a shame you don't test for this.

      That definitely could be true, but unfortunately we don't currently measure gradients at 4k120hz. However, we understand this can be important to some users, so we're going to be looking at this in with our next test bench update. In the meantime though, we don't expect it to matter in all situations. In fact, we suspect it'll only matter on the transitions that have very very slight overshoot, as the response time will recover 4ms faster.... but only on those transitions. The ones that don't overshoot will likely be identical, so the difference in real content should basically be negligible.

      There's no specific amount of time. If you just use your TV normally, switch up the content every so often, and avoid displaying static content for very long periods of time, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. its why i go to the "REAL" pro reviewers...theres "TOO" many feature sets for these tvs and aspects where certain featuresets/presets disable other's and vice versa which is IMO "CONDUCIVE" to these product variances....when in reality they can most likely be tuned to a similar setting/speed/image quality. Im only really looking at these 4k tvs as a monitor/gaming solution. HDTV test said theyll probably come in at a price premium like 42/48" near the same price....and given the price cuts of the CX/C1. I may go that route for my "NEEDS" but TMK it was supposed to be a "STRIPPED" G2 with the same panel/matrix etc...Sold at last years c1 price ranges. I mean they even changed their glass cutting to make more use of the mothersheet so idk why the 42" is coming in at such a high PP. Also the G2 has the "wall mounting" "gallery" aesthetic but thats more for long/range larger WIDTH display viewing etc IMO as a monitor i like the ability to still move the thing from time to time. The rear input is nicely oriented and visible for use vs UNDER XD or etc Or rear facing. But 1400$ for a 42" vs 1500$ for a 48" as the c1 is so low its a hard bargain i may consider it for 1200$ by q4 if it drops that low for blk friday

      Yes, some do ... but tbh the annual improvements are usually marginal ... you won't be able to notice them with your eyes at all or only with a side-by-side comparison maybe.
      All these small annual improvements are summing up over the years finally making a noticeable difference ... so, your impression your C1 will be a fantastic tv for the next 5 years or more for your needs is 100% correct. The C1 doesn't get worse just because a C2 might show some small improvements ;-)
      I am doing the same: for 5 years now I am using a LG 65C7 from 2017 ... and I love it ... it still provides awesome pictures and an impressive HDR experience.
      This year is the very first year it seems to be worthwhile to replace the C7 with a G2 (for several reasons) ... so, yes I fully agree to your plan sticking with the C1 for 5 , 6 or 7 years ... resulting in maximised fun and minimised hazzle :-)

      @@RTINGSdotcom I get the comparison to a cell phone on the surface, but it’s really not the same. Cell phone companies often times offer upgrades, meaning you aren’t paying the full price and or your paying over a period of time. Cell phones are much smaller in size and easier to sell. Upgrading a tv every year seems exhausting. You can almost guarantee your taking a nice hit on the money you paid for the tv, and a lot of people don’t want a used tv. Not to mention the annoyance of physically unloading the tv whether it be listing it for sale, lugging it somewhere, having a stranger show up to your house. The last tv I bought before the C1 was the Samsung KS8500 and the only reason I upgraded was because the KS8500 was a 55 inch and I wanted a larger tv. I could of lived with the KS8500 for another 5 years no problem. This all just seems ridiculous. I can see maybe 3 year upgrades but every year? Going from the C1 to C2 you have to be out your mind to “upgrade”.

    Can you give us an update if Sony has moved the bandwidth to 40 or 48gbps on
    ps5? Is important to know if we have to buy the C2 (48gbps) or can go with cheaper C1 or G1 which are only 40gbps and if could be enough for PS5 future firmware updates(12bit covarage) etc ..

    • @RTINGSdotcom
      @RTINGSdotcom  2 года назад

      As far as we know, it's still 40gbps but we really don't know for sure. If you want a bit more certainty, you could try reaching out to the manufacturer who will hopefully be able to offer more insight. Sorry we couldn't offer more certainty!

    • @marcuscole8796
      @marcuscole8796 2 года назад

      LG improved their own SOC to now cover the full bandwidth of 48gbps on C2 and G2.
      Nevertheless it is almost impossible to benefit from more than 40gbps because no tv out there has a 12bit panel ... and only 12bit is what makes these 48gbps necessary.
      Even if you use a powerful pc or a potential 12bit PS5 (which I very much doubt will happen) and use the full 48gbps ... the tv has to bring it down to 10bit again ... and you gained precisely nothing compared to 40gbps and 10bit transfer ... you even may have increased input lag slightly for the time the 12bit to 10bit conversion will take.

So, we make sure to buy all of our own products and don't accept any sort of demo, sample, or review units. We also don't accept any sort of incentives in exchange for a favourable review or recommendation. However, the affiliate links are one of the ways we can continue doing what we doing and that's thanks to everyone's support, which we really appreciate. Hi rtings, really enjoy your reviews, i got a question, in my area , C1 is $5112 C2 is $6165 and A90J is $4360, all in 83". price is not like in US. so in this case should i just get the A90J since there is a massive price difference? At that price point, if you're looking to go the more cost-efficient route, definitely go for the A90J. Why is reflections 9.2? This is clearly not as good as QN90B, which is 9.1
    QN90B: ruclips.net/video/G-cL50zkThQ/видео.html
    C2: ruclips.net/video/KWWR1Qz0WRI/видео.html
    Comparing both image reflections side by side, I think QN90B handled it better. C2 is almost like a mirror.

    • @RTINGSdotcom
      @RTINGSdotcom  Год назад

      Thanks for the good question!
      To try and clear things up, it's important to note that they score similarly but for different reasons. The C2 has worse direct reflection (mirror-like), but handles indirect reflections better. So if you have lots of lights directly opposite the TV the C2 looks worse, but if you're just in a bright room without anything shining directly on the screen the QN90B looks better.
      The QN90B also looks a bit worse as it has rainbow smearing caused by the ultra viewing angle filter. Hope that helps!

    I have the Sony A80J. I'm almost ready to give up on OLED. HDR is useless because it's too dim. Sports is useless because it auto-dims 2-3 minutes in and becomes murky looking. Will I notice a real improvement in brightness with this TV? And is it true that LG only dims static images like graphics in sports whereas Sony dims the whole screen?

    • @RTINGSdotcom
      @RTINGSdotcom  2 года назад

      Hey Ryan!
      What you're seeing is likely the ASBL on the TV (which is causing the screen to dim). Sony OLEDs are the worst for ASBL. On LG TVs, you can adjust it, and even disable it completely from the service menu if that's something you're comfortable doing. So, the C2 is likely a better option for you!

    What about the Elephant in the room....a glaring issue that very rarely gets talked about -->
    There's a MASSIVE problem when upscaling from a cable/streamed source --> the source resolution/quality RARELY matches it's description for the majority of consumers - critically, when you upscale a poor quality source, you get a poor quality result !!!
    Crucial concepts:-
    1) Upscaling magnifies issues with the source.
    2) Poor quality = anything below broadcasters stated specs on the source in relation to what you will actually receive (they commonly don't match).
    3) The video compression in these broadcasts is, very often, extremely aggressive, commonly to compensate for the end-user's non-optimal bandwidth.
    All this, of course, is mitigated if you have the original source at home e.g. Blu Ray purchase / purchased verified download
