@grimble As much as i like Kim and her work post-Pixies, in the Breeders and the Amps, how can she possibly be compared to Charles so far as creativity and song writing goes? Not even close. Much hotter though

Between Frank Black and Robbie Pollard from Guided by Voices, these two elevated pop music to unbelievable heights. Can never get enough of either. Deserving of so many more accolades and recognition. This record is a masterpieces from start to end. Thank you so much Mr. Black. Timeless, genius and essential. Spread the gospel of Frank and Rob. None of this mentions the cult like dedication of their fans and the wonderful reciprocity of these artists appreciation. Few recordings or artists are so fantastically timeless. True writers, artists and performers of their time. Much more recognition and respect is due. By ū
Crazy you said that because I went deeeeeeep into frank black and GBV. So bad I couldn't listen to anything else. It was about 10-15 years ago, shit I don't remember when...but I always go back to those sounds

The Pixies started grunge. We were so stoked. All we had before that was stupid hair band shit or dance music. Frank and Co. injected new life into popular music.
He also recorded under the name Black Francis and as Frank Black and the Catholics , and has several side projects like Grand Duchy and Paley & Francis. Have fun.
Absolutely not joking or making a snarky aside. Put on " Places named after numbers" the first thing tomorrow morning. It's a hell of a wake up song. Not kidding.
@@CinematicMaj Oh yeah, no doubt about that. I’m saying that his individual stuff is overlooked IMO. He’s a talented musician. He may as well be a primary songwriter for Pixies

Charles looks so young here, lol. He will always be a part of my life, he has been since I was 13 or so. Pixies first, then his solo stuff, then his work with The Catholics, then FBF, then his most recent work with the reformed Pixies again. I even remember his two albums with his ex-wife Violet Clark as Grand Duchy, lol.
i love the subtle nods to dylan and rod stewart. frank black is a genius at building off his influences and crafting something totally his own. This album is amazing. He also pulls a little bit from Television and X (LA legends!) at other points in this album, in equally novel ways. What an amazing songwriter!
Lucky. We had the Carpenters and shitty disco on AM radio in the back of my mom's Dodge Dart. Bright side: There was a 2-3in hole in the floor we could stuff napkins through and then jump up to watch them blow away behind the car as we went down the road. Ah, to be a little kid.

We all know that the song is great, but let’s appreciate one of the greatest music video of the 90s. Simple, sober, stellar.

I thought about my space and I really got me down

Got me so down, I got me a headache
My heart is crammed in my cranium and it still knows how to pound

And I fell me into sleep
I peeked to see if you were way back when
I was counting the trees
Until a day when there was one
I'd hoped beneath, asleep is where that you had been

Maybe you can help me
And I can help you

Got me so down, I got me a headache
