Man, after hearing it for first time I had that melody stuck in my head for about 6 months after. I thought I was going to have to go to the doctors about it!
you were probably born long after the pixies broke up and moved on with their other side projects. i bet you don’t even know the name of kim’s band after pixies or the name of blacks solo stuff
@@DazeyChaineMusic Kim's band was the breeders, she also had another band called the amps. Never listened to blacks solo stuff. And just cause I was born after they broke up doesn't mean I don't know shit about them lol. So get off my comment boomer.
Early Pixies albums: brilliant for their singular and unpolished vibe. This Pixies album: brilliant for it's multi-layered and polished vibe. Either way, we all won.
Had never noticed until now how Eric Drew Feldman's keyboard sounded like a Kim Deal harmony backing vocal and then in comes a Kim Deal harmony backing vocal over it. Those guys were sneaky.
@@sonicdiablo8968 i was agreeing with you. The laughing faces were just to highlight me being so very delighted by the uniqueness of this band. They are my all time favorite 🥰❣️

Kind of sad that you usually can't transition from planet of sound to alec Eiffel on RUclips without an ad interrupting. It's one of my favorite transitions on any album I've ever had. If you like these songs, seek it out and Crank it up! It kicks ass!
yea to me Trompe Le Monde is the best LP but opinions vary... I heard this particular song played when I first visited Paris and was staying in a Hostel a stones throw from Eiffel and I told the guy running the box how cool it was to hear this song here and he, a local, hadn't even realized the minor significance and we shared a smile
I was 15 at the time and loved this. Never understood my friends love for Guns and Roses, never liked it. And they thought I was weird for loving this song.

Saw the Pixies open for U2 in 1992 and when they played this song me and my date got up and were dancing like maniacs (we LOVED the Pixies). Everyone around us was giving us strange looks. Fuck 'em!
No two bars of this tune are identical yet it all seems cohesive. Put that against Coldplay where you get 32 bars of identical dross and you see what real musicianship is
Been listening to this and their song "space, I believe in", another less known but filled with original melodies, intertwined with Santiago's feedback loaded guitar
My favourite Pixies song .... always thought the lyrics went 'little white horse stands in the otways' :DDDDDDDD ..... I think Trompe le Monde is far and away their most interesting and beautiful album. From one of the most utterly inventive and gorgeous bands in history. Saw them twice in concert and just loved them. Such appealing and endearing performers. How they produced so much authentic music untrammelled by the vagaries of fame and trends I cannot imagine. Genius XXX
I heard this song in an Alternative Rock club in 1995.
I've spent the last 25 years looking for a song called In The Lifeboat.
that's amazing man, and hilarious too, because "In the Lifeboat" totally fits.
life before Shazam was weird
@@fragre77 I don’t know if Shazam would have worked with the ear-splitting volume 90’s clubs went for.
But yeah, it was!
Omg, I’m dying!!! 😂😂😂
What's worse is The Breeders
The most underrated Pixies song. That melody that starts about midway in the song is badass yet beautiful.
Trompe Le Monde is not only my favorite Pixies album, its my favorite album, period.

this chord progression is eternal and blessed
This song is about 50% of the reason Trompe le monde is my favourite Pixies album.
For me, it's 1/4th, the other 75% being the title track, Planet of Sound, and The Sad Punk.
Not a bad album at all I always thought that they were totally underrated as a band
Early Pixies albums: brilliant for their singular and unpolished vibe.
This Pixies album: brilliant for it's multi-layered and polished vibe.

4 perfect LPs. and then...whatever came after that we don't need to discuss
Had never noticed until now how Eric Drew Feldman's keyboard sounded like a Kim Deal harmony backing vocal and then in comes a Kim Deal harmony backing vocal over it. Those guys were sneaky.
Absolute g's
it basically does the same, just simplified the first time around
Gives me shivers every time Eric Drew Feldman's keyboards drop in, especially when it goes together with the vocals...
Yes and his movements playing the keyboards awesome
I talked to Eric Drew Feldman outside a FB&C show in Minneapolis. And what a nice guy.
Such an under appreciated musician
An underrated song.

The fade out. Gorgeous.
The end of this song is probably my favorite bit of Pixies music.
this song is amazing, the outro drives me nuts! Black Francis is a genius and Kim, Joe and Lovering too!
The best Pixies song period. I can’t get enough of that guitar
my fav is Gouge Away but this is close 2nd
Agree. Probably their best song.
Simple riff doesn't make no *sense* ,, but you like it anyways
I'm gonna have to agree... this along with debaser got me into the best indie band ever 🤣😎
Well, if that was their best, then... Kinda glad I haven't heard a lot of their music!

Just come back from Paris and at the top of the Eiffel Tower read about Eiffel's work on aerodynanics. So this video makes a whole lot more SENSE!

Joey plays some hot guitar licks on this track. I never even realized this song had a video.
When the song is so good it should not have a video 😩 ( still will watch it a thousand times over a Bush vid any day) but damn..
Almost got a "4AD" tat in 95...18yrs old.

Trompe Le Monde was an INCREDIBLE album, but it was closer to a Frank Black solo album. My favorite of theirs remains Bossanova.
