Great job guys. I’m thankful for you guys and your families for doing this. The Latter Day Saints are so misled it’s difficult for them to see the truth even when it’s presented to them. Only God can bring them to His truth. Satan has blinded them to the gospel. Thank you for sharing the true Gospel of Jesus Christ with our Mormon friends.

Please notice there are many times in this conversation when the LDS sister is challenged with scripture from the Bible about issues with the BoM, she tries to give an answer by saying “I think that….” and “I feel that…”. These are subjective answers that are not grounded in objective biblical truth. Even the introduction to the BoM asks the reader to “decide for themselves if the book is true”. Thanks Apologia Utah for you love of Jesus in witnesses to these sweet LDS neighbors.

The only problem with saying that is that they (street preachers) say that they believe their "interpretation" is true as well! Plus if they really wanted to have a good conversation - they should first study the book of mormon (compare the 2) and then ask questions - instead of presuming anything. Many of these un assuming good people get trapped in these conversations - that basically says unless you repent or unbelieve - you aren't going to make it, or that your Jesus is a false Jesus (which there is no such thing). Only one Jesus! (however many different views of the details). However with that said most christians believe universally that Christ came and died for our sins (was our savoir, and is the "son" of God - the father).

Christians believe Jesus is eternal and always existed. He wasn’t a created being. Mormons believe that God is a created being, which would include Jesus. Does that sound like I’m speaking of the same Jesus? Absolutely not. We don’t do that with people so how can we with God. Thank you for your comment. God Bless you and have a nice day.

@@DaleEarnhardt4ever That is true, many different preachers, sects and people will have a "diversity" of opinions and doctrines: (1) some say baptize, others say you don't need to (2) Some say trinity, others say they are individual Gods who work together (3) Some have different bibles with different numbers of chapters (protestant bible vs catholic, etc). I guess you have to trust in not just the word of god (but also his nature) and his spirit. A good scripture (James 1:5) is those who lack wisdom should pray to him for answers or even how to get them, or where to find them). However I do know God is not a god of confusion (and he knows there are many seeking more of his truth) Jesus himself said one faith, one people. All we can do is plant seeds and try to have meaningful discussion with those in the LDS faith, and ask God to give the increase, for we will never be able to reason with, convince through logic, etc, even showing them facts, historical documents of the church that contradicts themselves and Scriptures, that would cause them to declare it false. It is a process of thoughts, reasoning within themselves, as they are taught to put something they do not know the answer to on their "shelf" and many LDS members who leave the church will usually have a list of things that finally "broke" that shelf.
Until our Lord God calls them to him, they will not change. I find myself wondering and asking God at times, praying that perhaps when the rapture happens the the LDS faith gets left behind (along with the vast majority of the world), I pray and hope that they might actually understand what just happened, and realize their faith, their theology, was all based on a lie and deception, and they will embrace the true Scriptures (Bible) and come to the "traditional Christ" of the Bible, and abandon their works based plan of salvation.

Our works don't supplement His work on the cross. We do works after we're saved out of gratitude and a changed heart. We do works, and we believe in them. I hope that makes sense.

The passage in James is often misunderstood. James is explaining that good works are the fruit of salvation, not the means by which salvation is received. He's talking about people who profess to be believers with their lips, but their actions say otherwise. A new heart will make you want to do good works. Doing good works doesn't give you the new heart.

It’s always sad to see Calvinism get in the way of true evangelism.
The following 2 verses plainly, clearly and categorically contradict what these 2 well meaning evangelists were teaching:
“you were also RAISED WITH HIM THROUGH FAITH in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And when you were dead in your wrongdoings and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He MADE YOU ALIVE together with Him, having forgiven us all our wrongdoings,”
    ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭
    These verses say 4 things:
    1
FAITH precedes being raised to LIFE from the dead
    2
This happens while we are dead in our sins and when we are ungodly.
    3
This happens before God spiritually circumcises us and frees us from our bondage to the flesh and sin.
    4
Ungodly Humans who are spiritually dead in their sins and who are uncircumcised and are thus still in bondage to their flesh/sin CAN HAVE FAITH.
    And
Calvinists like R C Sproul say the KEY thing is:
    Regeneration precedes faith.
“At the heart of reformed theology this axiom resounds: regeneration precedes faith.”
    R C Sproul
“ARMINIANISM REVERSES THE ORDER OF SALVATION.
    IT HAS FAITH PRECEDING REGENERATION.
THE SINNER, WHO IS DEAD IN SIN AND IN BONDAGE TO SIN, MUST SOMEHOW SHED HIS CHAINS, REVIVE HIS SPIRITUAL VITALITY, AND EXERCISE FAITH SO THAT HE OR SHE MAY BE BORN AGAIN. IN A VERY REAL SENSE REGENERATION IS NOT SO MUCH A GIFT IN THIS SCHEMA AS IT IS A REWARD FOR RESPONDING TO THE OFFER OF GRACE.”
R.C. SPROUL (What is Reformed Theckogy?)
Therefore the 2 verses I quoted from Colossians prove Calvinism is false.

    • @leviwilliams9601
      @leviwilliams9601 4 месяца назад

You didn't disprove the reformed argument. God gives faith.
Nowhere in the Bible does it say man can conjure a saving faith in God. God gives faith and regeneration. Man can boast in absolutely nothing.

    • @SpielbergMichael
      @SpielbergMichael 4 месяца назад

      @@leviwilliams9601Hello friend,
May God bless you and your loved ones abundantly.
I’m afraid you have misunderstood what I said and also the Reformed Doctrine.
First of all, nothing I said would give man anything to boast about. Saying God gives men who are dead in their sins the ability to have faith in things doesn’t mean they can boast about it. That would be like trying to boast because one can see colours or hear music - they are all faculties/abilities which are given by God by His grace.
So saying that I say men can boast is incorrect. It would be like me accusing you of something you don’t believe in: for example if I said you were a Muslim that would be ridiculous and there would be no useful point in saying that. And any communication between us would be pointless if either one of us is only going to accuse us of believing things we don’t. That would be infantile.
      Second -
You don’t appear to understand the Reformed Doctrine of Total Depravity (also called Total Inability).
This doctrine says that while man is dead in his sins he CANNOT have faith in God.
But the two verses I quoted from Colossians states the complete contrary of that.
So you can choose to believe the Word of God, or the traditions/doctrines of men.
Which is more important to you: the man-made systematic of TULIP, or the clear Word of God?
If you choose to ignore the verses from Colossians you will be just like Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses who refuse to believe scriptures which completely contradict their manmade beliefs.
I hope you don’t do what they do.

    • @leviwilliams9601

But it's still rather confusing about the exact nature of the "works" James speaks of that all real Christians are obligated to preform as a validation of their genuine faith in Jesus Christ verses the "works" Paul speaks against.
As Prostestant apologetic ministries like this seem to be saying that if one has a true faith in Christ, then the good works James refers to will then follow automatically.
It's a though they're saying that God essentially picks up a Christian who has a true faith in Christ like a rag doll or puppet on a string. And makes them perform good works like some kind of involuntary physical reactions or something.
Like you don't actually have to put forth a conscious effort of your own to do good works. God does them for you through your body like a robot.
Is that what these ministries believe?
If so, then while not a Mormon myself, I nevertheless find that totally unacceptable.

I love Jesus, therefore I will keep His commandments. It’s simple. It has nothing to do with gaining salvation. The unsaved do not love Jesus, therefore they will not keep His commandments, so clearly this only applies to the already saved. But no, we do not believe we can “do whatever we want and be saved.” Romans 6 actuality addresses that. The interesting thing about it though is Paul literally addressed the very conclusion you came to about our beliefs on salvation. Why is that? Chapter 5 before it is about now having peace with God because we have been justified before God by faith. People were coming to the same conclusion 2000 years ago, so Romans 6 addresses that. Why? Because that’s the gospel. It is by grace, through faith. It is not of our own doing; it is a gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. We’re not denying the importance of works. Ephesians 2:10 says we are created in Christ Jesus for good works. But works do not save us. Adding any requirement to receive salvation is another gospel that is condemned in Galatians 1. Does someone do nice things for you because they’re your friend, or so they will become your friend?
The point about repentance he was making is that under Mormonism, there isn’t even forgiveness or grace unless you have completely stopped sinning in this life. As Doctrines of the Gospel Student Manual chapter 14 puts it, “When we speak of the continual need of repentance, let it not be understood that we refer to a cycle of sinning and repenting and sinning again. That is not complete repentance.” The point of Spencer W. Kimball’s soldier story is that trying is not sufficient, which he also says in his book just prior to this example. Don’t try to stop a sin, just do it. No excuses, no going back it ever. As Spencer W. Kimball also says in his book on page 170, referencing D&C 82:7, “To return to sin is most destructive to the morale of the individual and gives Satan another hand-hold on his victim. Those who feel that they can sin and be forgiven and then return to sin and be forgiven again and again must straighten out their thinking. Each previously forgiven sin is added to the new one and the whole gets to be a heavy load.” And then on page 360 he continues with, “We can hardly be too forceful in reminding people that they cannot sin and be forgiven and then sin again and again and expect repeated forgiveness. The Lord anticipated the weakness of man which would return him to his transgression, and he gave this revelation in warning: And now, verily I say unto you, I, the Lord, will not lay any sin to your charge; go your ways and sin no more; but unto that soul who sinneth shall the former sins return, saith the Lord your God." (D&C 82:7.)”
This applies to all sins. As is said in “Do You Know How to Repent?” 2002 by Elder Jay E. Jensen, “Another prerequisite or condition to repentance is to know that no unclean thing can dwell with God (see 1 Ne. 10:21; 1 Ne. 15:34; Alma 7:21; Alma 40:26; Hel. 8:25). You can hide sins from your bishop; you can hide them from your parents and friends. But if you continue and die with unresolved sins, you are unclean -and no unclean thing can dwell with God. There are no exceptions.”
And to the other person, no, it’s not like a doll being controlled. Genuine salvation results in works because when someone is saved, they are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), and as new creation, there is a desire to do works. There should be a desire to help people, and if there isn’t, that’s probably a sign the person isn’t actually saved, hence why James says in chapter 2 “I will show you my faith by my works.” But this isn’t as a means to gain something, and it is not God forcing someone to do works.

When we came to the conclusion that we could trust the Bible and accept it as the infallible Word of God, it made a huge difference. We learned from it that what Mormon doctrine says about God is not the Bible doctrine of God. Mormon doctrine teaches that God was once a man who had a father-who had a father, and so on. According to the Bible, God is not a man (Numbers 23:19); there were no other gods before Him nor will there be after Him (Isaiah 43:10); the God of the Bible says that He doesn’t even know any other gods. (Isaiah 44:8). That should make it clear to everyone that God was not first a man who had a father before him and also that men will not become gods.
Jesus, whom we had accepted as Mormons, is not the Jesus of the Bible. Jesus of the Bible is literally God Almighty, who became a man to redeem us (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6). We learned that He created everything, including Lucifer (Colossians 1:16), He is not a brother of human spirits nor a brother of Lucifer. He is the only Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). His salvation is a gift, so no one can boast of earning it (Ephesians 2:8, 9); but one must know Him, as John 17:3 says. If we do not know that He is God, we will die in our sins, as He himself said in John 8:24. Doing good deeds in Jesus’ name without having a relationship with the true Jesus Christ, will not benefit anyone (Matthew 7:22-23).
We could also see that there is no second chance (for the dead), since Jesus said in Luke 16:26, when speaking about the rich man and Lazarus, both of whom had died, “that there is a great gulf fixed; so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us….” That means no missionary work on the other side. They cannot pass across that gulf. Hebrews 9:27 says, “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” After death comes judgment, not a second chance.
Psalm 49:7 says also, “None of them can by any means redeem his brother, or give to God a ransom for Him.” Nothing we can do, after someone is dead, will help him. But the Bible says that we should “…exhort one another daily, while it is called Today….Today, if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts…” Hebrews 3:13-15).
      Our plea to you
God’s way is very simple. If you would like to receive the truth, may we suggest that you go to God in prayer and tell Him that you want to denounce all false ways and false views of Him, which you may even have promoted, and that you now accept Him and His ways, and ask His guidance in understanding His Word, the Bible.
Ask God to search your heart and help you to understand that you cannot earn your salvation, but that you will accept it as a gift from God, as Ephesians 2:8, 9 says. Recognize that you are a sinner worthy only of the judgment of God and that you now want to receive the true Jesus Christ of the Bible into your heart and life, for you now believe that Jesus has paid the penalty for all your sins, past, present and future-when, hanging on the cross, He declared “It is finished” (in Greek, literally “Paid in full”)-and that you now want to solely serve only Him. Ask God to help you to grow in the grace and knowledge of the true Savior, Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Amen.
      The One True God
As Mormons, we accepted the statement in the Articles of Faith that says we “believe the Bible as far as it is translated correctly.” It started to bother us, because it seemed unreasonable to say that, yet not clarify where the translation might be incorrect. If the Church knew that it was incorrect, why didn’t the Church correct it? The LDS Church as an organization employs a large number of translators covering a majority of the world’s languages. The Hebrew text for the Old Testament as well as the Greek text for the New Testament are available, and even the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Old Testament. (It was translated from the Hebrew about 270 BC. Greek was “the language of the world” at the time. This Greek version of the Old Testament was in common use at the time of Christ.) Most of the quotations from the Old Testament in the Greek New Testament are from the Septuagint. It is quite obvious that the Septuagint, and thus the Hebrew Old Testament as well, are correct, since Jesus Christ quoted from them and by doing so authenticated them.
On the road to Emmaus, Jesus said to His disciples, “O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken…. And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself ” (Luke 24:25-27).
Notice that He started from Moses, i.e., Genesis, and went through all the prophets (in other words, the entire Old Testament), explaining that it all was written about Him. He did not mention any mistranslation in the Septuagint, or any missing books or mistaken scriptures. The Old Testament was complete in 400 BC and, as we have already mentioned, a complete canon in Greek (the Septuagint) about 270 years before Christ was born.
Jesus himself assured us (Matthew 5:18) that “…till heaven and earth pass, not one jot or one tittle shall pass” from His Word until all is fulfilled. (A “jot” and a “tittle” are the smallest parts of the letters, like dotting an “i” or crossing a “t.” ) Heaven and earth have not passed away, so we have His promise that we can trust His Word to be correct and complete.
