Non M BMWs still have a break in PROCEDURE but aren’t required to have the SERVICE. Proper break in procedure is very important, for the 6 speed G29 Z4 m40i you must not exceed 4,500 rpm for the first 1,200 miles, no full throttle in any gear, vary the engine speeds and wheel rotational speeds (don’t sit at 75mph for two hours) and apply the brake pedal and clutch pedal gently for the first 300 miles so their wear surfaces bed in properly. Your comment for non M cars that you can “just get in and drive like normal” is dangerously wrong misinformation that you would recognize as wrong if you bothered to read your owners manual.
Im so happy for this video like you I didn’t know really what the break in period meant and just got my x5m ..When my friends started asking I did more research and got scared because I did take it over 5k rpm’s múltiples time and then started reading things online and got scared thinking I did some damage but I only have driven it 145 miles so should be good but again thank you.
Hey Rad, so would you say that the x3 m40i you can normally drive the car off the lot (not crazy but just normal driving with highway and city driving?...with occasionally speeding up slightly in the city to overtake some car) Is that more or less fine?
It's also really important to note the differential oil has a fine grit/sand included from the factory and it's meant to smooth down the planetary gears inside the diff. If you watch them drain it, it comes out charcoal grey in color. You definitely don't want that stuff sitting in your diff fluid forever!
This is not true. The difference in color comes from the particles and use that gets flushed from the factory. If you do another flush at 30 or 40k miles whenever it's done, it'll look the same. The diff fluid is exactly the same before and after break-in.
Coming from 2 AMGs, I moved to an RS5, much preferred it to the AMGs. Now Audi aren't making a new coupe, I'm moving to an M4. Way better performance than AMGs.

I don't believe so, it is mostly for M engines with the S or G engines.

No, its only for the S-engines. M440 and M340 have the B58 with a slight bit more horsepower

Say what. Had 2 AMGs brand new from the dealer, both times trade in for M vehicles. I like M better.
