A test against the current M135i. It’ll be good to understand the difference because the old M140i was fairly comparable with the 1st gen M2, whereas I think the capability gap will be much bigger now.
You do not have to go into any menus, just press and hold the “SET” button on the LH side of the steering wheel, it toggles the speed limit warnings off and on again if you wish.
This is how I set it up a 2 click shortcut on my i4 to turn off lane keep assist which also defaults to on - same idea should work for you ruclips.net/video/eNcw8MmxxNU/видео.html

What a lovely, balanced review. I just picked up the 2023 M2 (auto and US version). I had the 2020 M2C which I dearly loved. I have to say, though, that I’m even in more car love with the 2023 M2. I know both are amazing cars but BMW has improved this car in ways I didn’t think possible. I hope you have a great time with your new ride.

The easiest way to get rid of the speed limit bongs and lane assist is to put the car into Sport via the M Mode switch. All the M Mode switch does is change the screen settings and switching on/off the obtrusive safety systems . It doesn't change any of the engine, chassis or gearbox settings - you have to use Setup or the M1 M2 buttons and gearbox modes for that. I had a test drive in a manual car for a couple of hours. Joe, you didn’t mention that the rear seat is much less satisfactory for adults than the M2C due to reduced headroom. That reduces the practicality advantage over a Cayman 4.0 GTS. It's still much more practical, refined in Comfort mode and better value than the Cayman or Emira.

The G87 is beautiful in this color, still not sure about the front. Looks great from the sides! I will 100% keep my F87, I much prefer it over G87. I don't really like the mad focus on the dashboard screens. For a toy car, which M2 is (to me at least), I want less screen! Curious to hear other peoples thoughts on the dash screens! I owned a Greg e30 m3 back in 1992 , I swapped it for a brand-new Sapphire Cosworth probably the worst mistake I ever made in that decade…. Don’t shoot me.😂 But this new M2 is the closest I’ve seen to it that makes me compare them . Although personally, I hate that -long dash screen ,it’s like it’s been put in as an afterthought.
Joe- great video... how does this new m2 feel vs the F87 in terms of overall stability and composure? The old was was very bouncy on the stock suspension and the rear wiggled on acceleration.
Hi Joe I'm just wondering what that GoPro mount you're using on the front windscreen is? Looks more adjustable than the standard one. As for the car, I'm still not loving the exterior design but that red paint does help, actually looks pretty decent in that. The light colours looked terrible IMO.
Joe, I recently purchased a 2022 m240i and have been enjoying it. However, when it’s time to let loose the car doesn’t get as wild as I’d like. It’s blistering fast up until 80mph but it all feels a bit tame. Is it crazy of me to go test drive an M2 and possibly trade in my M240i if I like it? I didn’t not expect the M2 to be a good daily but people seem impressed!
How do you feel about the use of wheel spacers with regards to how it can potentially affect the wheel bearings wear and tear? Aesthetically i like the look it makes but i just need more feedback on this.
That’s a fair point. I bet there is no data anywhere but it must affect the life of bearings. I had them on my Mustang and it looked way better, but probably as with a lot of people you won’t go through a set of bearings before you put the spacers on so nothing to compare with. I can’t imagine much detriment to other components as a result, so long as they’re good quality components.
@@NickG24 The usual 10-12mm won't make much difference on these wheel and tyre widths. It is after all the same as changing for 10-12mm lower offset wheels.
Your thoughts on manual vs automatic, Lot of people saying the manual gearing is too long, making the car laggy. Also the BMW manual is pretty sloppy and notchy.
I do like the inside but I think in a few years I will like the exterior at the moment it just looks like one of my old Lego cars that I would modify with extra parts then in the morning my mom would wake me up to go to primary school

FYI if you change from road mode to sports mode it turns off the speed warning. A lot easier than digging into the settings each time.
And bimmercode sports mode default!
@@jayritchie7284 yeah I need to do this!!
Joe, which would you personally take, this or the F87?
I owned a Greg e30 m3 back in 1992 , I swapped it for a brand-new Sapphire Cosworth probably the worst mistake I ever made in that decade…. Don’t shoot me.😂
But this new M2 is the closest I’ve seen to it that makes me compare them .
Although personally, I hate that -long dash screen ,it’s like it’s been put in as an afterthought.
Joe ❤love bmw now because of your awesome reviews
Nice colour combo joe ❤
Hi Joe, it would be cool to see a back to back video with your ///M2, hopefully you can get the car fix asap
Joe,
I recently purchased a 2022 m240i and have been enjoying it.
Old M2 is not, its too loose, not nice to drive in traffic. New one is
'Intelligent Speed Assist' is now mandatory for all new cars sold in Europe. It is a feature than can be switched off though.
Your thoughts on manual vs automatic,
Lot of people saying the manual gearing is too long, making the car laggy. Also the BMW manual is pretty sloppy and notchy.
I’d be coding that speed warning straight off 😂
I do like the inside but I think in a few years I will like the exterior at the moment it just looks like one of my old Lego cars that I would modify with extra parts then in the morning my mom would wake me up to go to primary school
Great video as always Joe 🤝
Once you have had it a bit Interested to know how reliable the CarPlay connection is these days. Thanks
Looks like a Holden Commodore at the front which has a reputation of an old taxi in Australia 😂
They gave you a manual 😲
I asked for a manual 🫣
Great you've got one. Is that idrive 8 or 8.5? No idea what the difference is. Reckon cooling rads behind the grill definitely need some protection. Looking forward to any tips on set up. Picking ours up next week.👍👍 O'h and please let us know how to turn off that bong on speed limit when you find out.😫
Cheers Joe.
How is the ride highway,/ longer roadtrip. Had a 19 m2 comp that was very hard and bumpy. on highway. Look forward to more videos.
