They are not!... When My 2022 M4 had the first service, I wasn't allowed to view the service. I live in Southern California, and it would be great to have Andy complete the 2nd service.
Just watched a more recent video of this same service by a different tech at different dealer and they said taking the vehicle out of break in period mode does unlock the full power of the car.
Wouldn't it be beneficial to squirt a few ounces of fluid in the rear diff so any leftover residue would flow out? I thought that's what a "flush" was.
Just received a '23 m340i and there's no break-in service, was thinking of getting it done early but do you think I need to change my diff fluid and everything or just the engine oil?
Shouldn't the coolant be drained as it does run through the cylinder head and so on. Wouldn't they be break in dust/dirt/or metal shavings from there?.
Most people treat their cars like shit when they think it's the most reliable thing in the world. But your break in oil changes are the most important oil changes you can do in your car. Especially when you have a limited slip diff like this M3 he's working on does, you saw how nasty the oil gets, very important to get that stuff changed out.
I'm impressed on how thoughtful and professional the tech was. I'm guessing they're not all that way. Especially when a camera isn't running.

Thats what I call a BMW technician! 💪🏻
I was thinking the same thing.
Give this guy more videos with DIY info for the G8X cars, this is great.
Just picked up my 2023 M2 was cool to see the service routine thanks
Impressive BMW Technician Service overview.............Andy is a gun. Very professional. 👏👏💪💪
Very nice video. Thank you for taking the time to make it. 👍
Excellent video, clear and concise.
My M3 looks exactly like this one. Just picked it up today.
Congrats!
Andy is a very professional guy. Highly recommend it!
Very informative. Thanks!
Thank you for this video, I just purchased a 2023 X3M Comp.
Hope you enjoy it!

Great informative video!!

Amazing video brother
These cars are awesome

It needs to be an M car. A M340i is not an M car.
You should change the diff oil and transfer case oil if you can.
The biggest fail design is the oil filter location. Compared to both E93 and F80 that I had this is the hardest.
Exactly. My F-Type and my son's WRX both have oil filters right up top at the front of the engine.
Does this Break-in service apply to the M340i?

Super informative video
Do only M bmw's need the 1200 break-in service? Or does it apply to all BMW models?
Does this apply to the X3 M40i? If not, why? Also, why would you not do a drain and fill on the transmission too?
wonderful thanks
1000 miles and coolant was low... Great.
They come low from factory.
0W-30 in a S-engine? Back in the day on the e46 m3 they recommended 10w-60
But did he lubricate the seal on the oilfilter?
I didn't see him do it. I can't say that it's going to cause a failure, but it's generally considered a best practice.
He said he did lubricate the o-ring when he was at the bench putting the element back into the housing.
Very interesting.
What about X3M...same break in service?
Yes
What a handsome man….😅
I did my break in on my G80 at 900-miles.
Why this early...just wait 1200
Hey, clear up a myth. Is addition power or rev range unlocked after the 1200 mile service?
This is addressed in the first 2 minutes of the video...
No. BMW doesn't limit revs or power. It's up to you if you want to do the break in correctly so you don't fck up the engine down the road
Why doesn't Toyota have these issues?
Cause doesn't have the power
What issues?
Well, you cannot compare a shit box with ultimate driving machine right!

Can’t wait to see how much my dealer charges me for this service on my M3 😂
It's free and mandatory for all M cars.
