The passage of time has been rightfully kind to Mr Byrne. In the 90s and 00s I don’t think the general population really understood how great he was, but in the 10s and 20s his genius is really recognized, maybe even more-so than it was in the 80s.
David Byrne's ability to almost effortlessly mine and reinterpret his own compositions and performance is formidable. I have seen countless versions of this song and every one seems and feels fresh and incisive.
This was one of the most original and audacious pieces I've ever seen. A master class in music, light, and movement. Will never forget that performance.
