    Lee , If you use solid carbide long series cutters for your long studding I guarantee they will not wonder i have done it for years , l had mine made with a short flute length and a long solid shank and made to whatever diameter you want .

    Hi guys, Daihatsu engine owner here. The GTti was made from 1987 - 1992, 993cc standard producing 99BHP. It will be pushing out around 300BHP with a Garrett turbo, custom cams and a Link ECU

      My dad test drove a white gtti when they first came out. Came and picked me up from school in it. Ended up following a beautiful 911 turbo near RAF Wittering. Dad belted passed it which seemed to upset the 911 driver who belted past us and tried to leave us behind. We kept on the back of the 911 until 3 figures came close and dad backed off (it was only a small car after all). The 911 driver slowed as well and waved us back past giving a nod of respect. Awesome little car but unfortunately "too powerful" for my stepmother.

    Get yourself a spring loaded centre for the mill .... you still tap by hand but the mill fixes the top of the tap in the right spot, keeping it straight while you get it started.

    180 ×2 on turns in.
    Back off by quarter.90 degrees.
    And carry on as started till tread is finnished.

    been watching on an off for a couple years now. didn't even realize I wasn't subd. don't worry, fixed that real quick mates. about the end mill wondering, does make a difference if you advance the mill nice and slow taking small amounts of material where its hard? Sometimes it seems that technique works when I'm drilling or cutting. kinda inefficient and tedious tho. But I'm not doing anything near the scale you guys are. Just got some small hobby equipment, far from professional. Me and my tooling that is 😋 I wish I could do real machine work. also it would be cool to get john more involved with the channel. Id bet he has lots of incite and knowledge to share. Better get on the shop car quick, season will be over before you know it. And don't forget to get some cool track shots when you get it out

    With regard to the long studding alignment. You could turn up a pair of split collets to fit in the upper hole in the block, and around the shank of the tap. Enter the tap into the 'ole, tap the collets into the hole in the top of the block to hold the shank of the tap central in the 'ole, just tight enough to align the tap accurately. Tap away. Bodgers solution, may work!

    • @eliotmansfield
      @eliotmansfield 3 месяца назад +2

      it’s the drilling hole square that’s the issue, the tap will only ever follow the hole. By facing the lug flat with and endmill you have a better chance of avoiding drill wander

    I had a 1987 GTti back in the days, power to weight ratio was unbelievable for three cylinders, only thing that came close to it for putting a smile on your face was the Uno turbo ie.

    Before the GTti there was a Charade Turbo which was a blow through carby version. My wife used to drive it to work. I added a good dump pipe as it had a horrible cat converter housing on the turbo which was empty for Oz. Could outdrag a Commodore 3.8V6 up to say 80MPH and ate Suzuki Swift Gts for breakfast. My son drove it and I used to wonder why the LH front tyre was wearing quickly until I hit it on an uphill LH turn that he used to drive regularly.

Although I'm not Japanese our new generation don't like racial call-outs. We want to get pass what our parents and grand-parents seem to think is normal.
