    It’s the 3rd Party e-mount glass from Tamron, Sigma, Viltrox, Samyang and Tokina make Sony the hands down value leader. Compare the cost of a 3 or 4 lens package from Nikon or Canon against comparable e-mount options and the cost difference is staggering. What you can get for $3,000-$3500 from Tamron/Sigma for e-mount would cost upward of $8000 from Nikon or Canon. Buy the a7iii now, load up on e-mount glass and in 2021 the a7IV will leapfrog the R6/Z6 performance.

    Bought a used A7ii a few months ago to decide whether I really wanted to go mirrorless. Fell in love with it immediately and after a couple weeks replaced the kit 28-70 with a Tamron 28-75. Followed that with Tamron 70-300 and 17-29. Super happy with this lens combo! Lightweight, inexpensive and amazing performance. All that said, I’m now getting ready to put the a7ii back on eBay and pick up an a7iii body. Wish I’d done that initially, but c’est la vie. After all of the amazing reviews and recent comparisons like this one, I have no question about my decision!

      @yeetiesandwheaties 3 года назад +7

      @@daudabappa932 you don't just pay for improvements - you pay for future-proofing. If you plan on holding onto the camera for a few years, it's worth it to invest in the newer features, faster processor, better color science, superior autofocus, better LCD screen, a screen that flips out, an improved EVF, an improved sensor, possibly better ergonomics. You get those benefits every single time you shoot. So if you shoot 10 times a month, and you hold onto the camera for at least three years, that's at least 360 photography sessions that you will enjoy those benefits. That's worth $1,000 to me.

Two days later they called me and said Sony went up on the price of the shutter assembly to $350.00 for the part. My a7siii is gonna be delivered today 😀 with the 16-35 gm, also gonna pick up the cheap Sony 85 1.8 and I’m thinking of adding a telephoto.. 70-300 tamron f4.5-6 what do you thin? I say 90% of my stuff will be shot with the 16-35 and I’ll probably be shooting 95% during day light so the f4 plus should be ok ?

      Awesome!!! I'd look at the Tamron 70-180mm instead of the 70-300. I doubt you will need the extra reach, you can always crop in post, and the F2.8 aperture and quality of the 70-180 are better. Enjoy the SIII!!!

    Your video was really beneficial. I'm interested in either purchasing the Sony A7iii w/ an FE 28-70 mm F3.5-5.6 OSS Lens OR a Nikon Z6ii w/ a NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S. I will be primarily shooting photography but also dabbling in cinematography. I'm concerned (based on my research) that the Sony isn't as durable as the Nikon and won't be able to hold up or handle the elements as well. I live in the Northeast, so some of the best photos will take me to cold (and potentially wet) locations. If I'm overthinking it and the Nikon's rougher/grippier looking "weather proof" exterior is just a facade, please tell me. Likewise, I keep hearing videographers praise the Sony over the Nikon, but then hear a decent number of photographers brag about the colors of Nikon over Sony. I'm trying to ease back into photography, but want to invest in an ecosystem that I see myself using ten years down the line (really want to avoid buying glass and then switching to a competitor later). This will be my first time shooting w/ more than my phone in almost 6 years. I first learned on an old 35mm film Canon, and later my Canon EOS 550D. Looking forward to making the jump into mirrorless FF camera. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

    • @dswatson83
      @dswatson83 2 года назад +1

      Awesome! So I'd agree that the Nikon Z6II is built more rugged (not that the A7III will have an issue...no clue) and in most areas, the Z6II does come out a little ahead of the A7III. Sony took video to a new level with the A7III hence why so many use and rave about it but since then Nikon has caught up with the A7III. In Sony's defense though, the A7IV is definitely an improvement to both the Z6II and A7III it's just that it also happens to be $500 more. I will also say that Sony's ecosystem is better than Nikon at the moment and probably will maintain that so keep that in mind. If you really want the best of the best for years to come, consider saving for the A7IV otherwise between the A7III and Z6II, the Nikon wins with video, colors, and ruggedness while the A7III wins with autofocus and ecosystem. Overall Image quality is pretty similar on both. Either camera will be a huge update from the 550D though!

    • @learningcameras
      @learningcameras  3 года назад +1

      So Nikon has come through with countless promised updates including RAW video output over HDMI on the original Z6 which no one thought was possible so I believe them. Also, most of the cameras that can record full frame 4k60 (canon R6/R6) actually look better in APSC mode because the cameras have to pixel bin/line skip in full frame mode where APSC mode has a full pixel readout. So absolutely true however I personally don't have much of an issue with that

    • @24Steevy
      @24Steevy 3 года назад +1

      @@learningcameras z6II is oversampling from 6k to 4k at 24fps just like the a7III, there is no way the crop mode would be better than the 6k oversampled 4k, this is not 40+mpx sensor. • @learningcameras
      @learningcameras  3 года назад +2

      It's only 4K60 because most cameras can't oversample 4K60...it simply requires too much processing so they either line skip or crop. Crazy how most of the cons are unrelated to what your clients will see. I.e. color straight out of the camera, backside screen... Having a shitty touch screen is also not a deal-breaker at all, takes a week to get used to. The only 2 things that I would like to have is 4k60, although 4k30 will get most of the job done. 1080/120p is a great added bonus too for those who love slow-mo. And I can't do anything while loading pictures into the card. Despite all of those negatives, the af, battery life, dynamic range, weight, duo card, weather sealing / build quality (had mine freeze in ice while shooting 8+ hours in the Canadian winter all the time), button layout, built-in intervalometer, and much more make this still one of the best cameras in the market to this day

I take a LOT of photos since I shoot some events, and in my own time do street and portraits, so for me the amount of time I spend editing RAW files is a huge issue. So that's why I didn't want the extra resolution of the A7RIII--it would fill up too much hard drive space and slow down editing.
      I considered going for Canon too... but the Sony has a lot of lens options that are cheaper right now, like good Sigma options. So worth it is tough to define but I'll give you a few examples. Typically creating an online course might require filming for more than 30 minutes. It's horrible to be done with your filming only to find out that the camera stopped recording half way though because you went over the 30 minute limit the A7III had. Also, having a flip screen allows you to identify some potential issues like non recording or potentially out of focus problems. The A7c does have eye AF during video which the A7III doesn't have which could come in handy. Stuff like that! Non of them are quality upgrades but it certainly could help with online courses and vlogs

    As someone who shoots more video, and isn't quite invested in any system... It's a little tough.
    The A7C's awesome touch tracking features, smaller footprint for gimbal work is nice. But in the end it's still 8 bit colour.
    The GH5 though, has everything else except autofocus and low-light performance.
    R6 is totally out of the question. Anything that has a chance of overheating can't be used. Z6ii looks good, but not enough 3rd party lenses for budget options.
    S1 was a little appealing to me, but the L-mount is the absolute worst out of all full frame mounts currently and I'm not sure if I should even invest into it yet.
    hmmm........

      Hahaha, I'm with you. There are definitely some cons with most of the $2000 systems out there right now. The A7SIII fixes all of that but it costs a bit more

      @@learningcameras Perfect thanks for the feedback! So a buddy and I are going to share lenses and this is the lens that he actually already has;-) What would be your second lens choice with a little more zoom to compliment the A73? Thanks

      A 70-200 or the 85mm F1.8 is a good 2nd option. Depending on your budget
