I still use it for professional work. Just delivered a 6000$ job with this.
Nice!! You can buy 3 more!! 🤣
Do you think 4K is necessary for commercial ad work? Should I grab an A7iv or a7iii?
@@ZacBarnesMusic I don’t think you have to deliver in 4K, but it’s probably a good thing for you, as it gives you more flexibility in post. If you’re going to do a lot of colour grading, go for the A7iv. If not, a7iii is still good enough.
How much does it cost?
@@adamb.i4427 It goes for around $2000 right now it’s currently on sale at best buy for today and tomorrow. $1799 body only and $2000 with a lens
I think one thing that many people forget to mention is that these mirrorless cameras have a big advantage over traditional mirrored ones in that there’s no dust or scratches to get on the mirrors, viewfinder prisms, etc. it’s really nice to know that all you have to deal with is sensor cleanings
a great point
Thanks...I'm buying this camera at BestBuy tomorrow. My first real camera. I can't wait to take amazing photos.
Brilliant video as usual Mark. As a A7iii user I can only qualify what you say about this little beast of a camera. Won't be trading in my 2 x A7iii's soon but tempted by A7iv for the extra mega pixels and 10 bit video. I switched from Canon a few years back and never looked back - Sony gives great bang for your buck. G & GM lenses are a bit pricey but as you said Sigma, Tamron and Samyang offer great alternatives for every budget.
The A7iv has made my video life a lot easier, but in terms of quality - for what I do - the A7iii is close to indistinguishable from the A7iv.
If photography is your major professional work than even a ten years old DSLR camera is still worth it. a7iii is so much more than just a photography camera so yeah it is still worth it in 2022 and beyond.
agree on both counts
The A7III goes for about 1500usd used here in Saigon. I am still not going that direction, but if I did my budget for my hobby would put me in the market for that camera. I can't justify the cost of a more expensive camera for my RUclips stuff and the little commercial work I do for USA clients. The lack of a flippy screen is its biggest downside for a one-person operation but there are several alternative work-a-rounds for that. It's just not easy for hand-held vlogging. I like the A7III a lot. Cheers. We didn't get much snow today.
Not much, snow ❄️ 🤣🤣
Just purchased the A7III for the reasons you stated knowing it’s not really a V-Logging camera. I paid $100 more than the A7C (my first choice). Using Sigma 24-70 f2.8 and Viltrox 13mm f1.4. You can V-log with a gimbal/Ninja V as you mentioned. I got this for stills, portraits, street photography, and logging my work. The numerous menus do suck but they’re necessary, and I got a sense that Sony wants to help you to create beautiful work. ENORMOUS respect for a pro who goes through menus intuitively. A few buttons (C1-3) to store your settings help quicken the pace. Coming from DSLR, I love that it’s small and stout. Good low light and dynamic range. Good video 👍
it’s such a great camera. congrats!!
Im coming from 2024 and I've recently got it, that's an absolutely fantastic camera, the only thing that i don't like about it is the 180° tilt up screen "for video only", and sth to mention, in our country iran many professionals still use this camera as an a cam especially for wedding scenarios, thanks for the great information
Nice review! Id like to mention that I liked alot how this camera automaticly turns on focuspeaking with vintage lens! Very nice feature!
Yes - very helpful 👍
I bought this camera a couple of months before the A7IV came out, and I kind of felt like I made a mistake & should've waited, but now that I look at it, it's actually perfect for my needs.
I shoot weddings, portraits & street photography and this little beast has never disappointed me.
I spent the money that I saved from not buying the A7IV on a solid 85mm f1.4 lens which is perfect for wedding photography along with the Kit lens that came with the camera.
Overall, if you're coming from a DSLR, you will love the A7iii. It is a perfect value camera. Best bang for your buck. Do not hesitate unless you really need the few specific improvements the other sony cameras provide (i.e flip screen, 10bit colour, higher megapixels for printing etc).
24 megapixels is more than enough in my opinion. The perfect sweet spot, anything more will reduce low light performance.
But how do you see the a73 for video shooting? Is it worth buying it because I am going to photograph occasions, weddings, graduation parties, births, and so on?
By the way, I would like you to kindly suggest me the type of lens I need?
@@AHMD685 The video is great on it too. Fast autofocus even in low light and plenty of picture profiles to use (for example S-Log, HLG etc) for when you want to colour grade/edit.
This camera has been one of the most popular cameras since it came out in 2018. It's my first Sony camera & I am beyond happy with it.
It has 6K video downsampled to 4K which means the 4K on this camera is a lot sharper than other cameras.
Very sharp videos.
1080p Full HD 120fps slow motion videos.
And for the lens (for both videos and photos), I highly recommend either the 24-70mm f2.8 (Sigma, Samyang or Sony) OR the 28-75mm f2.8 by Tamron.
It depends on your budget. I would say the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 is the best because it's sharp, fast autofocus, lighter, and cheaper.
These lenses are zoom lenses which are very versatile.
There's a new "G2" version of this lens out now but the original version is on sale. But I would highly recommend the G2 version of this Tamron lens.
Hope this helped.
@@AHMD685 No problem brother. Enjoy your day.
@@paiman_ Hey there! Thanks for all the info in these comments! I have a question. Do you need an adaptor or anything like that to use the Tamron lense with the camera?
Instead of buying a7siii, fx3 or the a74.. we invested in 3x a7iii and lenses.. couldnt be happier. We still shoot at 1080 60 HD as there is no demand for 4K. Even if there's 4K demand, 4K 30 is plenty good and gimbal work is still at 1080 60.
Client doesnt really notice the difference. I'd buy more a7iii and invest in glass or lighting.
I use the fake s cinetone settings and it has been great!
This is exactly the type of reason to buy the A7iii. An A7iii with good glass and lighting will be way better than an FX3 with a kit lens and no lighting. Second body - second angle, etc. Spend money wisely instead of blowing it all on a potentially imperceptible upgrade. Are you using Extrashot’s S-cinetone?
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis yes sir! Extrashot s-cinetone for the a7iii
Recently got a used Sony 50mm f2.5 G lens for my A7iii. Fabulous combination with fast autofocus. Great camera for all-round work.
Nice!!
2.5 is a waste of money. It’s in no man’s land.
This video may be the reason I went to A7III. Always come to your videos when it's hard to decide.
It’s a great camera. Still have mine
Just bought one with the kit zoom lens last Saturday… I looked at Canon & Nikon alternatives but decided this camera is more than good enough even though it came out four years ago.
I’m going to get the 40mm Sony prime lens in a few months to us with it.
Still so great
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis 👍🏻😊
I'm looking to get the A7lll as well since it's in my price range. Unless I can find a good A7 4 at a steal of a deal.
Hi Mark. I have a lot of models swimming around in my head. Canon R5C, Panasonic GH6, Sony A7III, A7IIIs, and last but not least little Dougy. I know sometimes the money factor determines choice. I know pros or cons are ever present no matter what choice. At this time it is difficult to arrive at a choice.
if it’s video and you have the budget, A7SIII. If you do photography and video, R5 or A7iv - my 2 cents
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks. I do like the A7SIII.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis I also had the same question in deciding whether to go for gh6 or sony. But thanks for that!
Cool video!, I Just purchased a new Sony a7iv, and I'm in love with that camera!, I thought of selling my a7iii to KEH to get the a7iv. Well I'm glad I didn't, even though I love my a7iv to death!, I feel the same way about my a7iii. I agree with everything in this video about the a7iii. Low light performance, battery life etc. the a7iii is an amazing camera! that I will Never! get rid of. Peace!
Yes - I had fully intended to sell mine after I got the A7IV - but I realized how awesome it is as a second camera to the IV.
Just ran across your channel and I’m mad at algorithms not to recommend you sooner! Keep it up, from another traveling photographer 🤩

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis wow, thank you very much 🙏
Hit the nail right on the head with this one!!!
Totally using this a lot more than gh5 but because of its hybrid usability. photo and video. But Gh5 and touch screen focus.. having it all control .. shooting music videos handheld.. no gimbals needed.. tripods.. what so ever
it's a dream to work with.
I love the GH5. Still use mine all the time. I don’t even see a reason for the GH6 - might just get another GH5 🤣🤣
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis this exactly my thoughts... hlg + ghslex lut works like a beast . I dont go night time shooting with gh5 so its all great

my wife is very much in agreement about the childishness 🤣🤣
You have become one of my favorite review dudes with your cider and all🤙😎🤙. I appreciate the helpful info God bless
Thanks Mark...if someone wants to go FF then probably good value if you can find used. Also sometimes a little bit of jitter when walking in video adds a bit of realism. Awesome video and straight to the point!
Thank you.
Do you have any thoughts on the Black Magic Pocket Cameras?
Love black Magic. But they are cinema cameras basically. So you need to be comfortable manually focusing and to be rigging things out
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis ahh that's an excellent point. I'll have to keep that in mind. I'm looking at the 6K G2.
Thanks for the response!
Yeah, I love ZV-E10 :))) Happy that you've mentioned about ZV-E10 and catalyst browse.
I think I can connect it to my Sony Xperia 1 iii telephone to be a viewfinder. I just impulse bought one of these last night on Amazon, after wanting a modern digital camera for years, so now I'm watching RUclips videos about it. I bought a Panasonic Lumix around 2003 or so, but besides that I still use my Nikon F3 for non-casual photography.
you will lose eye detect and face detect autofocus when connecting to an external monitor including the phone, even using the Sony app through wifi. So that is a drawback of using external. However, the camera is amazing and you’re going to love it.
Super informative and to the point thank you so much for this video!
You’re welcome!!
Still relevant now that it's just 1700 at BH, but don't get it at that since Canon R7 or FX30 would give you buyer's regret. But if you can get it as low as 1200 open box/refurbished at Ebay, maybe! One used I've seen a 100% seller at 950.
I laughed so HARD at the CORRUPT file thing 😂😂😂
Best review I’ve come across!

Awesome video, I haven’t rcvd my A7iii yet but it is on its way.
It’s fantastic
I earned more than 20,000 euro from this camera. Still my best one. But i need 10 bit one right now. So time to shift a7iv 😍
I would say it served its purpose!!
hey there, i agree all your thoughts, but the grip. i'm using the a7riii with the sony battery grip and it is just not comfortable for myself. all in all the 3rd gen sony cameras are second to none milcs.
yes, the grip is too small, but I like the feel of the camera. the A7iv grip is more comfortable, but feels hollow. I’m still glad they made the change - but I’ve come to appreciate the solid feeling of th e A7iii.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis ty for the reply Mark. So..it doesn't get any better(grip wise) with the 4th gen. Well, i'll have to stick what i've got and truly i don't need 61mp, ffs. reason i've got the R, it's without aa filter. i don't need 42mp neither btw:)..thanks again, cheers from uk

👍
Would you recommend this camera for music videos? I’m curious if this is a great hybrid camera for photography and videographer? Appreciate any feedback!
it absolutely can work. you’ll want a gimbal for handheld footage though
I got a used one from a friend i work for ( wedding videographer) for 1000$ with an old 85mm f1.4 manual samyang. I love it! I use that combo for photos all the time!
For work i use sigma primes ( not mine 😥) and the picture quality is amazing!

I had to send it back to Sony, but I still have some footage, so hopefully I can get another vid out of it. 👍

Hey Mark, I am really confused and I need help. I am getting ZVE10 with kit lens for 500 euro and A7III with Tamron 28-75mm f 2.8 for around 1100 euro which one should i get? My main purpose is that i am getting into filmmaking (Just an amateur want to make videos on RUclips) and i never used a camera before. I believe i liked A7III more although its old. I think ill be fine with the screen. I am aware that zve10 has upgraded video options and for some reason they are not very appealing to me and the rolling shutter is horrible. I have seen many reviews about A7III in 2024 but none of them helped. So I want to hear form you which one is better. I am also thinking of shooting in 1080p and then up scaling it to 4K for RUclips. Considering the compression RUclips does, it may not be that big of a deal. Do you think 1080p on ZVE10 is better than A7III for film making under different conditions? Also, I currently live in Finland, we have a lot of snow and rain, so zve10 isn't taht safe.
did you removed the glass of beer on the minute 9:38? lol
btw, great video!! you really helped me to make a decition... I just sold my old a6000 and want to buy a: 7iii for a while... thank you!!!

wow - now that’s a deal.
Where did you buy? I'm trying to buy a great deal like this
I’m stuck between the a7riii and the a7iii don’t kno which one to get I’m more into pictures but i do take videos for fun too
being able to use crop mode for about 18mp is a good feature, but if you plan to shoot video as well, I would do the a7iii. it’s cheaper, takes sharper 4K and it’s autofocus system covers more of the frame so it’s better for tracking subjects (even in photos). If you were a big landscaper shooter, then the extra megapixels might come into play. But overall, the A7iii is a more well rounded camera that is less expensive
This will be my first professional camera. I want to take (nature) photos and record short videos (Reels). You mentioned that the a7iii is not suitable for vlogging, but is it suitable for short videos of nature etc? And which lens do you recommend me for the photos and videos? Thankyou in advance!
I would get the sigma 28-70 2.8 geni.us/GAmX or Tamron 28-75 2.8 - whichever is cheaper geni.us/VZiMh
you can also skip the kit lens if you get one of those two
My first camera
what kind of mic are you using? its a amazing
It's probably just my musical voice. :) But outside, I'm using the Hollyland Lark 150. I love it. geni.us/CMqKB

Can we use the joystick to control the power zoom?
For those camera without joystick can we continues with the camera build in zoom range after the lens zoom reached it's limit?
Hi there, would you advise to get this for plane spotting(photos and videos both)?
Thanks In Advance 🙂
Yes - the a7iii is a great camera for that as long as you have a long enough lens
Hi Mark love your content, I am looking into getting a camera and lense for my eyebrow business- mainly using for portrait photos and reels & and up close detailed photos. Would you recommend getting this camera? And the Sigma 28-70 lense? Thank you!
Absolutely. You should also pick up the Sony 85mm 1.8 which will take very professional portraits
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis appreciate your response!! would you recommend I get this lense first instead of the 28-70
@@asabadaczewska1180 hello, it will depend on your needs. For the portrait shots the 85mm will be great. But for versatility and zoom capabilities, the 28-70 will be useful for many occasions, such as vlogging (a bit tight on 28mm maybe). If you'll be getting a zoom lens please note whether it will have a fixed aperture or multi, as a fixed one will not change aperture in zooming. Good luck with your business!
I’m looking into a camera for videography and photography in a gym and I’ve heard great things about this camera. Would you suggest it for both?
Yes - but if you do a lot of video - especially if you plan to stand in front of the camera the A7C is better. They will take similar photos and video, but the flip pout screen of the A&c and unlimited recording are benefits. If you are behind the camera filming other people - the A7III will be great.
😂🤣 “she won’t care she’ll boot you in the face 😂

I have an A7c. Have loved it. Would like another body that’s fit more for photo, control wise. Actually bought a iv, but feel it’s too much camera for me for what I do. Am taking it back but looking at options. If I like my C photos, I should like using the iii right? Or better option?
A7iii will be perfect for you. Just like the A7C but better for photos 👍
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis thanks!
is it a good choice to buy zv e1 for videos only and a7iii for my photography so I have 2 cameras instead of buying a7cR or a7siii or a7iv, ?? I have zv e10 now and wanna upgrade
it’s nice to have separate cameras for sure, especially if your going to leave the zv-e10 on a tripod in your studio. but if you don’t mind using the same camera the A7iv will be a big upgrade in photo and video
I’ve been trying to save for either the A7iii or the A7riii to start up my photography business… I’m planning on doing wedding photography and some commercial work and a lot of video work… I’m not sure which to get, any advice? Thanks!
The A7III is the better choice because It's much better for video and excellent at photos as well.
I am looking to upgrade to the A73. I have heard that it has shutter failure issues. Is this true? Has Sony done anything about this?
Hi! Thanks for the info - is the audio recorded from the on-camera mic or did you add a shotgun on-camera? Any recommendations for audio devices for interview settings? trying to build an affordable, quick kit that I can record interviews on-the-go. Thanks!!
I use a wireless lav mic it’s the best solution for interviews and outside. I recommend this one highly amzn.to/3K7OJbp
Do you think it would be great for shooting professional dance videos in lowlight settings?
Absolutely. One of the best cameras ever for that. Great in lowlight.
My A7III just arrived in the mail today. I can hardly wait for the weekend to go out and start taking pictures.
It's so great.
Between the a7iii vs a7c and a7iv, what would you recommend for all around camera for stills and video??
Well, the best is the A7IV. The A7C is better all round than the a7iii for stills and video as long as you don’t mind the one card slot.
Thanks!
You bet!
Hi Mark and thanks for the video. I just purchased my first Sony A7III. I noticed you did not mention the art of transferring photos from the Sony to a smart phone. This allows the user to setup to track the location (GPS) via the smart phone. Well, I am having a tough time getting that to function properly and tons of other folks are also struggling based on all the videos out there showing how to to it. These videos usually don’t actually work except for the person that recorded it. Not much good. So do you use the Sony solution for transferring photos from cam to phone?? If so, do you have any recommendations? Sony recommends the use of Imaging Edge Mobile. A poorly fashioned app for apple iPhones. I am unable to successfully get this to work.
This a7iii or the a7c it's the question? mainly take photos of landscape, family and animals. So hard to choose...
If it’s all photos - the a7iii would be my pick. It has a better viewfinder, higher max shutter 1/8000 instead of 1/4000 and two card slots. But the A7C is great and if you ever need video too - the A7C wins.
I have a Panasonic GH5s and can confirm the focus completely sucks on this thing and without any image stabilization literally everything I shoot is shakey and fluctuating focus , I’m selling this thing for what I can get for it
yes, the GH5’s is really a studio cam / manual focus camera. it can create amazing footage, but It’s not suited for a lot of situations
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis literally the worst choice for me, I’m an on the fly no lights documentary type of shooter. I’m trying to sell it back , to KEH

For full frame I am considering the a7 mark 2. Would that be a good choice today or should I go for a6100 or nikon d7500. I am confused in these three. I am upgrading from nikon 3500 and mostly do stills.
for photos, out of the three, I would choose the Sony a7ii. it’s autofocus isn’t amazing so you have to be a little more deliberate than with an a7iii, for instance, but it’s a full frame camera that will give amazing results.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Yes! autofocus is the main concern. But i am assuming it to be better than its nikon counterpart. And a6100 has better. On the budget price i am getting the a7ii with the 28-70 kit, a6100 with dual kit and. Can you help with the verdict about the 28-70 mm kit with the a7ii?
Hello Mark! I appreciate the content. I’m fairly ignorant when it comes to this. I own a detail shop and I’m looking for a camera that I could take great photos for my website and social media with as well as short videos of the vehicles (before and afters) and videos highlighting the work. I appreciate your help very much and I hope you have an awesome day. God Bless!
This is a great camera for all of that. If you are sitting in front of the camera and need a flip screen - then the A7C is good, but the a7iii is a better photo camera and if you are behind the camera for video - it will work great.

I’m not sure exactly what you watched, but you can colour grade the ZV-E10 to anything you want. The APSC sensor should be better than anything an insta sensor can produce with the Leica or not. @@IAmBrentLopez The A7C is great. Great choice . I think the 35mm from Sony is the better choice because it is cheaper, smaller and has no focus breathing. POlus the Sigma art for emount is adapted from a DSLR mount so it's a bit clunky bhpho.to/35l5nWs
A7C (incase you want to use my affiliate link :)) bhpho.to/3KeV8l0
I'm looking for a first camera to upgrade to from my iPhone. I really like photography so I would like a camera I could grow into and not have to update for a good few years. I was recommended the A7iii or A7iv but im not sure if its worth saving up a bit longer to get the A7Riv since thats mainly based for photography. I know its very overkill for a first camera but I really dont want to have to upgrade camera body in the next few years. Also weather sealing is a very big need for me as I live in Scotland where it rains A LOT xD
You will be very happy with any of these cameras. What type of photography will you shoot?
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis My main interests are street and car photography. Because of that I'd imagine that I would need a good low light performance in case i'm shooting at night time.
@@PTR2K I think The A7iii would do you for that. It’s an amazing photography camera. The A7iv and A7RIV are really only better to when it comes to megapixels. So unless you are doing a huge amount of cropping in post or plan to print really large, there is no need for those cameras. The A7RIV does have the advantage of being able to use apsc mode and still have more than 24 megapixels. But that would only come into play if you want to use apsc lenses or want extra reach with your full frame lenses. I would get the A7iii probably unless you want the flip out screen (for photography I prefer not to have a flip out screen).
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis The flip out screen is one of the main reasons I was considering the A7IV over the A7III to be honest but I guess I will just have to go by price because the A7III will be quite a bit cheaper I'd imagine. Thanks for all the help!
@@PTR2K A7iv has a better menu than the other two and much better video. It also has a better viewfinder and screen than the a7iii
I just wanted it to record reaction videos on RUclips. Someone selling it on Facebook marketplace for $200
Hello Sir,
I can get canon R8 for 1 lakh and sony a7m iii for 1.24 lakh , which do you suggest? And why ?
What are you shooting?
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis wow ! I can't believe that you replied. I really like your videos. I will be shooting portraits and some videos for my personal usage.
I am confused because the price is almost same , one camera is technologically latest and another is bit old.
The XC60 Recording Studio! :P You're just trying to tell yourself it's still good so you don't have to sell it. The A7IV wants you all to itself haha
🤣 I really do have to start selling some stuff
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Nah! It all comes in handy at some point. When it comes to flagships, you can maintain a lot of very relevant content over the years. It's not costing you anything and it's quality stuff
planning to buy this. but what lens can you recommend as i dont want to have a blurry effect specially on the group pics that has 10-12 people. appreciate your response.
thank you and godbless
If you don’t want a blurry background, just set your lens to about f8 or f11 and the then I recommend for large groups is the Sony 16-35 f4. great wide lens amzn.to/3MV3a4G
Hello mark thank you for this beautiful informations 🤜🏼🤛🏼

The sigma 14-24 is a great lens. You can also check out the sigma 16-28 f2.8. That will also go a good job.
Which one is good to buy
Sony Alfa a7
Or Sony alfa zve10
Actually my purpose is for RUclips,
And I want to take video by blurring background, 4K footage and
I want a wide view…….can you please advice me my brother
Get a ZV-E10 with a sigma 16mm 1.4 OR
an A7C with the Sony 20mm 1.8
idk it's missing the little "v" in the name that the a7iv has.
Sony sent me a pre-release of the vv - I’m gonna get so many clicks.
For some reason, whenever I shoot 50fps it comes out grainy even tho I have the 24 GM. Any reason for this Mark?
Sounds like you need more light. at 50fps. Make sure your 24 is at 1.4 to let as much light in as possible and your shutterspeed at 1/100. Put it in auto ISO and take note of the ISO - you want it as low as possible, so if you are in conditions where the iso is going high, like 3200 and above, you need more light.
what's a gimble?
I could get the Sony A7iii for $1000 with the kit lens and it has 36 shutter count, should I get it?
that’s a amazing deal, I would get that, never seen as a7iii for $1000
When you say it can only record 30 minutes worth of video, is that without a memory card? Thanks!
No - it must have a memory card to record anything at all. What I meant was that it only records video for 30 minutes in a row before it automatically stops and you have to start it again.
Gotcha - thank you!
