90% of photographers should be fine with the A7 III for several more years if not more. It covers almost all that you need.. long lasting battery, adequate focal points, fast write speeds for photos, excellent dynamic range and fairly compact for a full frame. Plus it's built like a tank.
Yes, it's built like a tank but there's three really serious downsides:
1) a slot where display cable connected to display is too wide and that makes it vulnerable; if the water or snow drops in - then cable would rust through. the sad part is that it's precisely problem of a7m3/a9. on a7/a7m2/a7m4 this problem ain't exist. btw Sony knows about the problem and fix it as a factory recall, even though according to their own rules - entry of water is voiding the guarantee
2) shutter is not really realiable. it's a well known problem and in US there was even class-action due to this problem against Sony. as far as I concerned it's occurs when you shoot with series on full-speed a lot
3) IBIS mount is very weak and can be cracked just from any hard blow. it's very thin and made from plastic, while, for an example on Nikon Z6 it's full-metal
I own A7iii from 3 months now and picking it up and shooting with it is always a amazing experience. It never made me feel like it is going to 4 year old camera in 2021. I love shooting with it and pictures from it are just fire. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

My new a7iii has just arrived
I needed a full frame mirrorless system and the Sony was perfect for the lens that are available
I paired it with the 24-70 2.8 sigma art and the 70-180 2.8 Tamron
2 GREAT lenses!
Both of those lenses are BRILLIANT, especially for the price. Absolutely loved the Tamron, especially for travelling.

For those concerned about your computer not being able to handle editing high memory files, you still have the option to edit with proxy files in Premiere Pro which tells the software to edit low res versions of your footage but you're still able to switch between the hi res and low res versions and of course be able to export the hi res versions when you're done editing.

Really great video as always! Have been thinking about which of the A7's I'd like to upgrade too from my current camera (Sony A6000) I think this might be the best choice (especially to upgrade the battery life from those awful NPFW50 ones)!
The A7 IV is highly rumoured to be coming out relatively soon. I would hold out until that one drops, see how it is, if it's worth it, and if it's not, then the A7 III will have dropped in price as a consequence and be all the better.
I really want this camera now that I am not a beginner anymore. But photography is still a hobby for me and it still cost a lot of money. Hope Sony will release the A7IV soon to get the A7III cheaper!!

Even with it being as old as it is, for the price it sits at now the a7iii is going to hold its value. It will drop a bit when the a7iv is released but not like everyone thinks. It’s a steal for the current price. Love that camera!!!

I sold my A7iiis for the A7iv. Still waiting but bought an A7C in the meantime. Faster autofocus and better colour science. Good for a b cam. Single sd card and has earth feedback loop if used with a cage. A7iv is due soon, might be worth waiting for that if you’re in no rush.

Honestly, I just made the jump from Canon a few weeks ago, I had three requirements for buying a Sony camera, 1st, “MUST” be full-frame, 2nd Mirrorless, and 3rd, 4k video in at least 30fps, (un-cropped lol) and the A7-iii fit right in for what I was looking for , and I couldn’t be happier.

Lol I'm deciding to switch from Canon too and those three requirements are top of my list (of six) as well! The other three being the pixel count had to be over 20MP, it had to have some sort of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity and it had to have SD storage (silly, I know) but we get a bonus of dual-storage with this device!
Definitely some of my requirements right now too. Also needs to have autofocus and stabilisation but most modern cameras like this one have that.
*I was looking at this camera as I can't seem to get the A7C but the reason I want that camera is because of the swivel out screen but Not sure how to do it where i can't see myself, so what did you do when doing vids like this one when recording? do you have a separate screen or just trust the camera?*

Looking for a Bang for my buck that can dual as a photo and video and then just keep using 5d for photo stuff when I'm running camera into the ground.

Thinking of switching from MFT's. I know the A7C has the flippy screen and 'better" AF, but loses the dual card slot. Would you recommend the A7III over the A7C if they are approximately $400 CAD difference where I live?

The one issue I did find is DaVinci Wouldn't natively edit the a7 files. I had to transcode them into something else to edit the times I have had a7 footage. Not sure if it was one file type or all.

After a very long time with my Sony A350 I’ve decided to upgrade to a new Sony camera .. I’m not a professional photographer just need new cameras will get me a decent pictures for the next 5-10 years .. I was thinking of the a7iii and I found it with 1865$ deal .. but my only concerns is it will be outdated soon since I’m not going to change it in the near future .. at the same time the a7iv is new but the price difference is too much .. it will cost me 3000$ after calculating VAT and other tax .. I don’t know if it worth paying more for my humble needs, but this video definitely encourage me more to go with the iii .. I’ll appreciate any advice .. thank you

I have 2 A7iii's they are amazing!!! I shoot wedding videos full time. There is no sound from 1:31 to 1:47. It seems there should be. Just letting you know in case there was met to be so you know. Awesome vid man!!! And I saw you talking about Storyblocks in an ad! Way you go mate!!!

Incredible video. I was looking at the A7ii but have been looking around and think the A7III is a lot better for my use case. This video helped me make the decision and thanks for adding the amount of computing power that is needed. Its info people overlook and just focus on the camera itself.
nice tip for the autoscaling slow mo to 4k also. the A7IV with the 120fps in 4k looks awesome but hell of a price tag! A coworker has been trying to convince me to get Blackmagic cameras forever but I think the Sony's look way nicer and just seem to have a better feel imo.

QUESTION: Sony A7c vs Sony A7III? I'm more suited for video so my guts go for the A7C. But that Sony A7IV though... might need to hold off if it truly is coming out.

I wish the shutter issues with this camera were not so common. Earlier this year I had one of these cameras for 2 weeks. The last photos I shot with it showed something that looked like a faulty shutter. Parts of the images were completely black as if one of the shutter curtains had not moved away quick enough.
So that experience, combined with the lawsuit (about the shutter issues), scares me away from this camera. Which is really annoying! Because this camera looks perfect for me! I want it! I just don’t want to deal with the shutter issues. I know it’s unlikely that I’ll have issues, but it seems to be more likely with this camera than other cameras.
If the A7 IV is not too expensive, and if Fuji doesn’t stop using x-trans, I’ll get it! Sony seems legit awesome.
Pretty sure the shutter fail issue is like 0.1%. They sold over 2 million a7iii's and only reported about 3000 shutters failed.
Where can you find it used for 1000 pounds? Everything on ebay shows its over 1500 for me :(

Bro my pictures with the A7iii look shit in low for some reason... Any specific setting you're using? I shoot with Tamron 28-75mmm 2.8. Does the lens make a huge difference here or?
Colors are not that good. I got this in 2018 and recently bought 5d m4. Canon colors and picture quality is better. 5d autofocus is not that good. But RUclips hype is causing more money now days.
