This is an album that has grown on me over the years. There are no bad Maiden albums, its just that they set the bar insanely high earlier in their career.
I've been a maiden fan for 40 years and I've never listened to the next two albums as maiden went through some changes so you're taking me on a journey with you and really looking forward to it. Keep up the good work.
Good song, certainly one of the top of this album. Classic riffs, great bass and solos, and metaphysical questions. Leave it up to Maiden to ponder death and the hereafter, the meaning of life.
Nice reaction. "Public Enema Number One", "Fates Warning", "The Assassin", "Mother Russia" and maybe "Hooks in You" are good songs too. I hope you enjoy them
While this album may not be at the level of the highest ranked Maiden studio albums, I really like the way it is different and still with musical quality. Also understand why this different concept might not be appreciated by all but again, I just know I love to play it still. Up the Irons!!
Steve Harris still cranked out this great track 'No prayer for the dying' in 1990... It was a partial ballad, not unlike Metallica's 'One' or 'Fade to black'... but Harris did even better on the next album w/ the song 'Afraid to shoot strangers' 🤘🤘🔥🔥The guitar solos on this track are so searing and memorable... started w/ Janick Gers, and concluded w/ Dave Murray. And yes, Bruce Dickinson's vocals also brought out the blues, rather than the usual 'air raid siren' that he's famous for... great performance.
Title tracks never usually dissappoint: Iron Maiden is pretty good Killers is awesome Number if the Beast is awesome Powerslave is awesome Caught Somewhere in Time is awesome Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is awesome No Prayer for the Dying is pretty good Fear of the Dark is awesome Brave New World is great (minus the chorus) Dance of Death is awesome The Final Frontier is pretty good The Book of Souls is awesome Senjutsu is great
The opening track, this, Public enema number one and hooks in you for me is the bests songs on the album. this album for me is the second best album for maiden in the 90's, he is so much better than fear of the dark,of course the best is The X factor.
The seventh son and somewhere in time guitar tones and production is the best thing they’ve ever done imo, I’ve never seen a band create anything like it
Track 5 will be the end of side A, which it has a really good '80s Maiden vibe. Side B, it has another 3 good songs for this album, judging from what I've seen in your reactions so far, in this album, I believe we'll agree in the end. Just in an advance, when you get to Fear of the Dark album, the only good song out of it, it's Be Quick or be Dead. I'm not spoiling, I'm just being objective.
I know Russia sux, but next has got to be Mother Russia. It's the 2nd best song on this album. This title track you just reacted to has always been among my favorite 10-15 Maiden tracks of all time. Love it. Such an underrated song just like Afraid To Shoot Strangers from Fear Of The Dark record.
@@jaredlesperance6874 Putin is a Fascist dictator that the entire world despises. Murders his own people. You would have been closer if you compared Putin to his evil puppet Donald Trump.
I've been a Maiden fan since 83 when I was 13, the first album I heard was piece of mind and I was blown away and have heard every album since including iron Maiden and killers with Paul Diano, I love every Maiden album and I absolutely love this album no prayer for the dying, I'll always resort back to number of the beast, piece of mind, power slave, somewhere in time, seventh son, fear of the dark but I just love their style and creativity and the newer albums are still Iron Maiden and I've got great respect for them. They are undoubtedly masters of their craft!
OK the album certainly isn't that strong, but "No Prayer For The Dying" is one of my favorite songs. There's only one thing wrong with the song and that's that it's way too short. But show me a 4 minute song that has more Maiden in it than this one? btw "The Assassin" and especially "Mother Russia" are also really nice IMO.
This is one of the better songs on this album IMO. I actually like it, which is saying something for this album. I actually have it on my 130 song Maiden compilation CD. Keep rocking Maiden Hurm
Curious as to what your opinion would be, listening to Bruce Dickinson's solo albums in the 90's (1 after 2000) ... You'd think he'd have done better in the 90's, but no... his solo records tanked after he left Iron Maiden in 1993... His 1996 album 'Skunkworks' was literally a grunge album, and fans hated it. He did better sonically w/ metal albums like 'Accident of birth' (1997) and 'The Chemical wedding' (1998)... but neither albums got promotion and failed commercially. Then, he after rejoining Maiden, he released 'Tyranny of souls' in 2005. I enjoyed his 1994 solo album 'Balls to Picasso' but it had a 90's 'dry' stripped-down production. His identity w/ Iron Maiden was too profound to make it in the hostile alternative 90's scene.
Accident of Birth, The Chemical Wedding and Tyranny of Souls are better than anything Maiden has put out since Seventh Son. Heavier, less formulaic and better fit for his vocals.
This is a good song, but could have been a great song with proper production and a better song structure. Definitely one of the best off the album though.
No Prayer is a great album, unfairly berated, the reason it's looked down upon because it came after 7 perfect albums, also metal was on the slope to the bottom so it was up against it from the start, it's still a fantastic album
I politely disagree. This album is relatively crap, in my opinion. Mediocre and bad song writing. Adrian Smith on guitar is sorely missed. Bruce wasn't focused and wanted out. Nah. I think that this album mostly sucks.
I said it before and I say it again, all things considered it's a really good album, it is In my opinion again I said before it's a sleeper album it's better than you think. You can't compare it to 1980s Maiden, this is a new different era.
For the love of GOD, Janick Gers... pick a key. Any key. Horrendous solo on his end. On his end of the solo, he just plays any note without any musical rhyme or reason to it whatsoever. Adrian Smith leaving this band was the worst thing that ever happened to it. And, them not kicking this other guy out after Adrian returned was the 2nd worst thing they ever did.
Maybe their most underrated title track ever.
I love it, can listen to it anytime. Unfortunately, it's much too short, so I sometimes listen to it several times in a row. ^^

Surely one of two most underrated albums by fans but my 2nd most loved after the Somewhere in time.
I just cannot let that love go. ♥️🤘

@Andy - the - Roo, Pretty good analysis and not far from my own thoughts on Maiden title tracks.
Been many years since I’ve listened to this, better than I remember. Hopefully I’ll be saying that a lot over the next few weeks 😂
Best song on the album

This s a cool song, Bruce really feels like 80s era.
A truly underrated album even amongst Iron Maiden fans, but we can enjoy every album if we give it time.

Maiden needed to change away from the epic 80’s as things always need to evolve to keep it fresh
