    You said that Dave Ellefson (bassist) was into Jazz, who really were into jazz were Chris Poland (Second guitar) and Gar Samuelson (drums), they had a jazz band called New Yorkers during 1980. Gar sadly died in 1999, Chris still in a jazz project called OHM. Check out Rust in Peace (Peace Sells it's better in my opinion), and also SFSGSW (Came after Peace Sells, only album with a very interesting lineup, very punky record btw)

    "I ain't superstitious" is a cover of Howlin' Wolf (written by Willie Dixon)... Megadeth did record some covers back then - "These boots" (Nancy Sinatra) was on the first album, but apparently Megadeth got into a legal battle w/ the songwriter Lee Hazlewood, who hated their cover and demanded they remove it off the record (after ca$hing his royalty checks!)
    And then The Sex Pistols' "Anarchy in the UK" in 1988.

      Totally agree. In the top 5 metal albums of all time. Not meaning to be picky though, just so Hurm knows, it’s Rust in Peace… easy mistake. 👍🏼

      it’s funny, i’ve listened to megadeth since 1986. tho rust in piece is one of the best thrash albums, i’ve always thought peace sells is THE best thrash album of all time.

      Rust in Peace is the best 'technical' Thrash album Megadeth released. But, Peace Sells... has always been my favorite Megadeth album though. Not as polished, but Peace Sells, to me has more feeling to it. Poland's leads and his use of legato phrasing just works so well with Mustaine's more classic shredding. And the albums theme, as a whole, is great. You can't go wrong with any of the first 4 albums if you want Thrash or 7 albums if you want Thrash/Heavy Metal.

      Rust in Peace has, possibly, better songwriting, but this was by far Megadeth's most talented line up. No disrespect to the others.

    David Ellefson (bass) is a stellar musician... he helped found Megadeth w/ Dave Mustaine, and was the bassist from 1983 until 2002... then 2010 until 2021... Unfortunately, he was fired recently after a sexually explicit video involving him communicating w/ an underage girl was leaked online.
    Only 2 Megadeth albums were recorded w/ original guitarist Chris Poland and (the late) drummer Gar Samuelson... "Killing is my business..." (1985) and "Peace sells..." (1986)... The band back then was mired in 'h' addiction, and it got to the point where Megadeth's gear was being pawned for drug money. Poland & Samuelson were fired... replaced by Jeff Young (guitar) and Chuck Behler (drums) for the 3rd album "So far so good so what!" (1988) ...they were fired in 1989.
    Marty Friedman (guitar) and (the late) Nick Menza (drums) joined in 1990 and recorded Megadeth's biggest albums - from 'Rust in Peace' (1990) to 'Cryptic writings' (1997)... Menza was fired in 1998, replaced by Jimmy DeGrasso (drums) and recorded the rather electronic-heavy misstep album 'Risk' (1999) before Marty Friedman left the band and was replaced by Al Pitrelli (guitar). But they only lasted 1 album 'The world needs a hero' (2001).

    I don't think there is any Megadeth song better than Good Mourning/Black Friday....especially the first few minutes (Good Mourning). Chris Poland's fluid, and smooth as HELL lead part...The way he utilizes that whammy bar, the guitar sounds like it's talking. Almost as if it's begging/pleading for something, if that makes any sense lol. Then you have Dave's beautiful playing behind it....There's just nothing better.

    The first album "Killing its my Business" it's raw and fast, I think you'll like it. But listen to the "The Final Kill" version, the 1985 has a very poor sound, the 2002 remaster was good, but the cover song "These Boots" got destroyed by the most idiot idea that was put Beeps all over the song due to the "N words". The Final Kill version has a much better sound that you definitely should check out, but expect for "These Boots" thats gotta be the original (Dave rerecorded the vocals, so you're basics listening to a 1985 song with a 2017 Mustaine singing).

    • @metaltildeth6783
      @metaltildeth6783 Год назад

      While Final Kill is 'cleaner', I don't like how they changed the beginning of Last Rites/Loved to Death. The way the guitars kick in before Last Rites ends.... Also, with Looking Down the Cross, the intro is too bright. And if you want to listen to the original version of These Boots, you either have to listen to the original or find someone on youtube who has lifted the voice off the original and placed it over the remastered. But then again, I listened the cassette for years before I replaced it the cd in the mid-90's. And while the original recordings are considered 'muddy' at times, they still kicks ass.

      @@metaltildeth6783 The 87 version of These Boots it's better btw

    • @metaltildeth6783
      @metaltildeth6783 Год назад +1

      @@themechanix8804 Agreed. Chris' soloing is better in the movie version. There are parts of both versions which I like, one over the other. The 1987 version of These Boots has a little too much reverb. But the track is a whole is recorded better than the 1985 version. Dave's voice is a little angrier in the 85' version while in the 87' version it's a little buried in the tract. I enjoy listening to them both. I know you prefer the later remastered, Final Kill, but have you listened to Helm of the anti lemon 'fan' remastered version. He took the original, cleaned up it some and tweaked the eq a bit. Sounds better than the original while maintaining the original's sound. It's in two parts posted in January 2020.

    Killing is my business is the only album worth listening to the remaster. The rest of the albums are probably best to listen to the originals...some of the remasters of the other albums are terrible. If you like this one, Rust in Peace is in my opinion even better...but not by much.

    • @metaltildeth6783
      @metaltildeth6783 Год назад

      With 'Killing is My Business... and Business is Good', Dave was pissed off at the world and you can hear it in every song. This rawness is what makes the album classic. Are the songs as complex as some later Megadeth music? No. The album was written as Dave was trying to form a new band. For me, 'Killing...' and 'RiP' are side by side, one in technical excellence and the other in pure aggressiveness, but 'Pease Sells...' sits just ahead of them.
