If the Brits & French did not destroy the Old Summer Palace (Yuan Mingyuan) in 1860, it would be as impressive as the Forbidden city today. It took 3 generations of Emperors to build, 3 times the size of Versailles palace, but took 3 days only to destroy by European colonial powers. Lot of the precious gems, relics, and artifacts were looted from the Old Summer Palace and are now on display on museums in Europe & US. Rich Chinese businessmen had to spend billions to buy it back from the thieves's descendants. You should read Victor Hugos' response to the destruction of the Old Summer Palace. He was one of the witness of the British-French Expeditionary Force that lay siege to the palace. I find it funny that US & EU always say China is a threat to the world, but so far history have shown that they are projecting onto China what they themselves have done to others in the past. Chinese Ming Dynasty have already set sailed to Africa and all over SE Asia in early 15th century (Zheng He's Treasure Fleet), but they've never colonized any of those countries. They've traded with all these countries they've visited. They traded silk, tea, porcelain, lacquer ware, and gold for rhinoceros, giraffes, zebras, muir, spice, gems, and other exotic goods. This is several decades before the first European Explorer (Vasco Da Gama of Portugal) visited modern-day Kenya. The Chinese were already interacting & trading with Africa in 14th & 15th century, but China never colonized them.
After 10 of October it will be OK, the best time is the end of December, every place belongs to you and you only, keep yourself warm then it will be great
Your schedule is so tight, it seems you have made a lot of preparations. Next time you come to China, you can slow down your pace and go to some small places where there are also charming scenery and simple people.
And yes it was very packed. Unfortunately we only had 10 days as my sister is still in school. But definitely I plan on coming back, staying longer and going beyond the cities next time!
4 major cities in 10 days is too much of rush, should come again for an in-depth re-visit. One of the most significant benefits coming to China is: "you don't need to worry about safety issue at all, day or night time." 🙂
Places that I like the most in China are: Dali ancient town, Lijiang ancient town, Zhangjiajie avatar mountains, Yangshuo river cruise, Northern Xinjiang, and Wuzhen & Xitang ancient water town.
It takes more than an hour to get to Jinan by high-speed train in Beijing, a very beautiful city with clear spring water, fat carp, Wanfo Cave on Thousand Buddha Mountain and Daming Lake! Have a nice trip.
Welcome to China! Have lived in China for several years and it is (by far) the friendliest, safest, most modern country to visit and/or live. Come back again!❤️🇨🇳
Thank you for presenting a true and objective picture of China. China has a huge land and different provinces have their own beautiful scenery. Welcome to visit China again. Best wishes from Guangzhou, China.
The 7 most worthwhile cities to visit in China: Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, hangzhou,Chengdu, Xi'an, Chongqing. The 7 most worthwhile natural scenic spots to visit in China: Jiuzhaigou, Lugu Lake, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Huangshan mountain, Guilin Landscape, Zhangjiajie, Sanya
Thank you for sharing the video from China. The visuals are very beautiful and it is accompanied by traditional Chinese music. It's very thoughtful. ❤❤These ten days are too short. We warmly welcome you to visit China again next time.❤❤
Wow.. you went to all those places within 10 days? It's amazing. Hopefully next time you'll be able to visit the forbidden city and all the other scenic destinations like Zhang Jia Jie (Avatar Mountain), Yang Shuo, Gui Lin, Da Lian, Phoenix village, Beaches, Nan Jing (city of 50 emperors), Chong Qing, Xin Jiang, Tibet, Three gorges rivers, and many more.
Yes this was our 10 day itinerary! Very packed haha thanks for all the tips! A lot of your suggestions (like the avatar mountains, gui lin and phoenix village) were already on my list, but we didn’t have time this trip unfortunately. Definitely next time!
This is a very disgraceful thing. The British and French forces destroyed China's thousands of years of civilization and stole countless treasures. But now, they will not mention such a shameful act and show it to the world. It is very regrettable.@@GretasTravels
Tip: If you plan to visit China next time, check the public holidays in China and try to avoid them. During public holidays, almost all tourist attractions in China are crowded. You also need to avoid the winter and summer vacations for students, which are usually in February and July and August, because many parents will take their children on vacation to travel around.
Thank you. This is the first time I've seen your channel. I'm really impressed with your video, thank you so much for sharing. I'm planning going to China next year and I think I'll do all the things you've put in your video - so THANK YOU for sharing the itinerary. Very cool and helpful. Can't wait to see those old buildings and the pandas! YAY!
Wow, what a whirlwind tour! You covered so much ground (literally) and hit all the big spots: the Bund, Terracotta Warriors, Xian City Wall, Great Wall, Summer Palace, etc. Well, except the Forbidden City, but maybe that would've made your trip too rushed (if it wasn't already). I appreciate the scenes from the Summer Palace especially, since most travelers somehow skip out on that gem. Question: is the hexagonal temple/pagoda at the end of the video the building atop that huge brickstone wall? Can you go to the top of it? And does that wall/brick structure have anything inside of it? I have always wondered about that building since it shows up in so many shots of China, especially from the river. Anyway, sorry about all these questions, but thanks for the wonderful video!
No problem at all, thanks for the comment and watching my video! Yes it was a very packed itinerary, but very good fun! The hexagonal pagoda has some statues inside
Thanks for sharing the visits of your trip! Suggestion to watch the loudness of the music which can blast people out when wearing headphones. Look up loudness/volume/levels equalization when editing. Also: change up the music. Too much repetition and it gets annoying, try three different pieces/tracks of different music. It also helps break up the trip/video so there is a sense of passage of time and different spaces just through the music selection.
Thanks for the tip! I’m always trying to improve my videos so genuine feedback like this is always appreciated! It’s also my first time making a video this long so I’m not used to having to change music haha usually I only repeat tracks twice at most 😂
Hey Greta! Thanks so much for the video, it has given me lots of inspiration as I'm planning to visit China next year. You mentioned at the end the video there would be parts of the itinerary you would change - what would you change? (i.e. would you spend more/less time in a certain area?). I would love feedback from people who have already been! :)
Hello! Thanks for your comment, I’m glad you enjoyed my video! It depends where you’re flying into China from, we started in Shanghai but I discovered after that the airline we flew with (Qatar Airways) also flies into Chengdu, so if I were to do it again I would start the itinerary there then do all the internal transfers in China via train and fly out of Shanghai. Just saves a little bit of travel time compared to flying into Shanghai and then flying back to Chengdu, and also gives you a bit of extra time for the train journey from Beijing to Shanghai to maybe stop one night in Suzhou. I wouldn’t spend any less time in any of the cities we visited, 2-3 days was the bare minimum to see the highlights, if anything I’d try to spend longer there! Hope this helps 😊
When traveling to China, it is recommended to choose the off-season, otherwise there will be too many people. Choose some less popular cities. The cities are basically modern, and the natural scenery is even better than in big cities. But it is recommended to spend more time in each city.
We discovered that the hard way haha! But yes for sure, next time we’ll be visiting some of the parks and smaller towns. This was a whirlwind trip for our first time in China to see all the main sights 😊
