This song has a magical connection to myself. I believe it provided some comfort during a bad time in my life. I know that does not make sense when you listen to the words yet today in 2023 the song still captures my emotions as it did the first time I heard it. Thanks Al Stewart I truly appreciate your work.
This song delivered me out of an agonizing breakup in the fall of 1978 when the "Time Passages" album was released. It never ages and gives eternal, yet melancholic, hope.
Quite simply a masterpiece. This is literally my “end of the day” go-to song. It never grows old, always seems fresh and new. Just a joy to hear every time. Thank you so, so much, Al and Peter, for all of the joy you’ve brought me over the years!
One of Al Stewart's most brilliant (and shortest) songs. I've always loved listening to End of the Day and finding this version, performed perfectly by Peter White and sung by Al Stewart, was a real treat. Thanks for posting it! 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Have loved your music & performances from Portland's Starry Night Club to Anchorage & back to Portland at the Aladdin Theatre. You're timeless! Thanks for many great memories, Al!
Wonderful. I used to play it in the early 90's and, although it was too difficult, I managed to sound quite similar to my ears. Now I see it's even more difficult than I thought.
It's my favorite of his, but...Al, you were right the first time when you said, "They live their lives in some familiar spell". It made sense. It's what I've known all these years, and I can tell you one word makes a difference. "Some romantic spell" is also nice, but it changes the whole tenor of the poem.
I love this song. The title is perfect. I imagine myself sitting on the back porch of my beach house watching the sunset with a glass of wine. Cheers, Al
The original version from the Time Passages album seems to have two guitars doing the intro, one nylon and the other steel string. They're not doing exactly the same things but they are intimately complementing each other.
Hello David, how are you? I am very happy to hear from you and also the new videos of Al and Peter, which are always received with great enthusiasm and joy. The videos are great and with very good sound and image. As always, very grateful for this new and interesting material. A hug David!!
Hello Jose! Had been wondering how you were as I hadn't seen you around recently! I hope you are keeping well. I'm great; last weekend I went to see Al play in London and got to meet him afterwards and tell him about the channel!
That's right, David, I've been pretty absent lately on You Tube. At the end of June, I slipped out of the car at a gas station in my city and broke the tibia and fibula of my right leg and have been resting all summer with the healing routines. Thank God, 4 months have passed and I have finished the rehabilitation and I live a normal life. CONGRATULATION David for seeing Al's performance and above all talking to him... Wow.. "GREAT" A hug David!! and thank you!!
Thank you very much David, do not worry, fortunately the worst is over and currently I am already doing normal life and the fall has not left me any functional sequelae, in fact my legs work the same as always, if anything, the only sequelae are two scars but I do not worry at all. Now, I am very happy to walk again and return to normal life.
A big hug David and thank you always for sharing your videos with all of us.
...quite possibly, my favorite song from my favorite Al Stewart album...and, totally off-topic...would you ever consider recording some Christmas music? I have a list of "my favorite artists who have not recorded Christmas songs," and you, my friend, are at the top of it...:0)

From one Letchworth Boy to another..........Superb stuff Peter !!!!!.......(And Al of course)
One word, exquisite, thanks Al
Fantastic, liked the song from the beginning. Both the version on Time Passages and Peter's instrumental version on his own CD.
Beautiful song! Wish it was played when I went to your concert (twice).
Have loved your music & performances from Portland's Starry Night Club to Anchorage & back to Portland at the Aladdin Theatre. You're timeless! Thanks for many great memories, Al!

This song always brings me tranquility in life chaos. Music like this is a gift

Yes Jose when you watch Peter playing it, it becomes apparent what a challenging piece it is to play. And what a genius Peter is for writing it!
@@TheAlStewartArchives Al was lucky to count on great collaborators
Wow, what a great and clear voice, after all these years❤
Yep they both still sound great!
It sounds GREAT! (Y)
They make quite a team don't they! We are lucky that they met each other and made such wonderful music.
@@TheAlStewartArchives , they did, do and always will.

Probably my favorite Al Stewart songs. But yeah, it does sound like a cheap guitar.
