The saddest part of this entire movie was that Burt had to have a closed session for his final scene to record it. It took over 20 takes to get through it. The reason why was because the father of the daughter who voices Anne Marie killed her just before the movie was finished. He wasn't saying goodbye to Anne Marie it was a goodbye to the little girl who played Anne Marie.
OMG! That's Judith Barsi!? I love this movie and didn't realise this until you just told me. That makes this movie so much more impactful.

Someone that grew up on this movie and it was my favorite movie I loved this movie when I found that out it actually broke my heart it made me sad and angry
Burt's powerfull and emotional last moment with Judith Barsi in the voice cast, was like the warm and caring father she never had.

This movie hits so much harder after finding out Anne-Marie's voice actress, Judith Barsi, was murdered by her father before they finished this movie. She had already passed away when Burt Reynolds was recording his lines for the scene where Charlie is saying goodbye to Anne Marie. He had to record that scene so many times because it was so hard for him. The sweet girl was only seven years old when she was killed, I can't not think about it whenever i watch this movie

She was only 10 years old, not trying to be smarter or anything, but I just want everyone to know that she was 10 and I know this because she was the same age as my sister and it’s heartbreaking that she was murdered by her own father. how could he do that to her and her mother, feel sorry for her. May she rest in peace😢😢😢😢
The girl who voiced Anna Marie, she was shot and killed by her own father. She also voiced Ducky in The Land Before Time, I believe the father was jealous of his daughter’s career soaring and taking off at the time and he killed his daughter and his wife. The wife was thinking of divorce at the time but she didn’t want to lose anything, ironically that’s what exactly happened to the wife and daughter

RIP to actress Judith Barsi who played Anne Marie in this movie this was her last acting movie role she and her mother was killed by her abusive father in the summer of 1988 two days later in July he set the house on fire and committed suicide in the garage Judith Barsi was laid to rest with her mom in los Angeles she was just 10 years old
And RIP to Burt Reynolds and Dom Deluise
@@nsasupporter7557 I know Burt Reynolds and Dom Deluise passed but hers is totally different because when she audition for Anne Marie or her other character from the land before time she burst out crying during the audition she died before both movies was released in 1988 and 1989
@@nsasupporter7557 what happened to her and her mom is a sad ending she was trying to protect her daughter by getting away to a relatives house but she figured he's going to find them her husband was jealous of little Judith i felt she could have left with judith but again there wasn't no place to go no one to turn to and people keep asking why didn't she leave and i be like what would you do if you was in that situation😭

Yeah, I remember it was hard watching the ending of this movie, because it was saying goodbye to a little girl who was a wonderful actress, I will forever remember her As Ducky in land before time and Annemarie from this movie. So, when they say goodbye, they really mean goodbye, so it hits harder.

You think Charlie’s nightmare about Dog Hell is bad? It was originally going to be a LOT worse! There’s bootlegged footage out there, in poor quality, but you can see it. After rising out of the lava, the giant Hellhound leans forward and speaks directly to Charlie in a disturbing, distorted voice: “NOW YOU ARE MINE!” And then cruelly laughs at the despair on his face.
He gave his life for her so in the end a good deed erases a bad deed.
As a kid I watched this alot I had it on VHS. As a kid the ending never affected me but watching it now as an adult. It hits different.
5:37: Itchy is a dachshund. This was Judith Barsi's (Anne Marie) final work before she died by filicide by her dad (may he burn in Hell). Funny that you described her as Snow White since she was the inspiration for her design. The reason the gator looks like that is because I think it's for comical reasons. The voice of the gator (Ken Page) is the same guy who voiced Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas. The voice of Itchy (Dom Deluise) is well known to 80's and 90's babies. He voiced the crow from NIMH, Tiger from An American Tail, Koosy from Dexter's Lab and Fagin from Oliver And Company.
the final scene that was recorded was charlie saying good bye to anne marie. burt had just been told that the anne marie actor had just died recently , he had to redo the last scene a few times before he could get it right. you could still hear the emotion in his voice after so many redos .

It almost makes me wonder if Judith did want a new mommy and daddy because of all the awful things that happened with her parents. Being murdered by a so called loved one is so devastating but you can def hear the pain in her voice when she says that line in the beginning

Don bluth used to work for disney and him and a whole team of animators walked put and started their own company as at the time Walt disney didn't like the idea of feature length animated movies. That's why Don bluth movies are everyone's favourite

So weird, I just rewatched this movie and the second with my boyfriend because I hadn't seen it in forever. I bawled at the end when Charlie was saying goodbye to Anne. I told my bf what happened to Judith and started crying even more. RIP Judith and her mom. 🥺💔😭😭

Don Bluth! He was an amazing animator at Disney, but they wouldn’t let him take over for all the old boys. So Don quit and started making his own movies and I personally like all of them. “Thumbelina” “Titan AE” “American Tale” “secrets of NIHM” and “land before time” he literally cornered the market of making Disney vhs better than they were at the time.
I found the ending of this movie so sad when it was an animated film Judith Barsi never had the chance to see. As well as The Land Before Time. I don't know her but I miss her.

One of the saddest child films I’ve watched next to The Land Before Time and The Fox and The Hound. Judith Barsi was such a phenomenal young actress. She voiced Ducky in The land before time too. SMH really sad what happen to her and her mom. Great reaction by you both.
On the vhs cover of the movie. Probably on the cd to but the lake in the background is the same lake disney used but with a castle at the end.

@disneydatenite Oh they love it, lol. They especially like Charlie, but I think it's because we have a pet German shepherd lol. All three of my kids are under 8 so they don't really get the movie I think. They just like the way it looks and the songs lol
