@@DaxSports1 true. The comic version was more messed up with the family but I think the show version was better integrated flowed nicer. Both are great. But I think I prefer the show.
i haven't been hit this hard by an actor's delivery of a line since "I am the one who knocks." the build-up is perfect too. antony starr absolutely killed this scene
Except he killed a whole family while saying it which was completely unreasonable, here at least you can tell what he went through, another instance of how the show improves the comics, although the comics were more "badass" overall.
If I remember correctly, bodies don’t explode when falling down like that. That can imply Homelander legit threw her down so hard it ended up like that
Even though homelander is a terrible character, his inner pain was enough to make that girl give up on the idea of committing suicide, but it's still terrible that he closed every possible path to regret her decision, he gave her the worst possible lesson ever
Yeah I don’t think she was ever really gonna jump, she might’ve just been looking for attention. But Homelander taught her the importance of following through…
In the comic he took a family from the believe expo(I believe) on a joy flight. He flew them(mom, dad, and daughter) in a car after they won some event or something and homelander keeps flying higher and higher and the kid gets scared and asks "hey dad, we're too high up.." and he responds "don't worry sweetheart, we're with homelander. We're safe." And homelander proceeded to his line here and said "I'm the only man in the sky" referring to himself as god.. and he drops the car with them in it to their deaths while some supes are up there hovering, watching him, waiting for him as he says "let's talk"[abt his plan to take over the US/world]
Anthony Starr does such an amazing job with this character the way he says that line is downright chilling. Though it does make me wonder, considering how many Supes tend to have similar powers and how often the same kind of power pops up in multiple people, it's really weird that he's the only one who can fly. That made me think, which is more likely, that no other Supe has ever developed flight or that Homelander kills anyone that can because he's the only one allowed to live in the sky like that. Yeah that seems exactly like something he would do.
@@tommyhalliday2490 That's true, he has more powers but the same kind of powers tend to pop up in multiple people. I mean, think about how many speedsters there have been and how many people with eye-lasers, and all the different levels of super-strength they all have. With that in mind it seems kind of odd that him and Stormfront are the only two to develop flight.
I never condone what Homelander did but I do symphatize with him. You give, you give, you give, you effing give everything you had but you never get the respect, the credit & recognition you truly deserve no matter how hard you work. Just like me back then in my corporate work, I work hard, wake up & come early to work but no matter how good my work output is, my colleagues said that I wasn't good enough that I always make mistakes even though I try my best not to make the same mistakes again. My colleagues always favor that gay employee over me. I feel depressed & sad even though my job has a good pay & benefits. After 2 years, I resigned. And now, three years I'm a helper in water company, pay is small, the job is hard but I love it. No politics, no favoritism & no ass-kissers.
But Homelander does nothing. He just flies out, lasers and punch through who he wants to and can get away with from doing so. You, sir, should not be compared to Homelander because you are a hard working gentleman whereas homelander is a crybaby.
I love Antony Starr so much, he’s perfect at conveying the tragedy that is homelander, like his moment of honesty before he tells her to jump is played so well, you can feel that if he wasn’t the sociopathic narcissistic monster he is, if it was a different person in his roll, he might have actually been a good hero, but it’s when the comparison to Jesus gets really going that you can see this man, would never have been good, even with a normal childhood
I'm not gonna lie, "the only man in the sky, is me" -- gotta be in the top five best super villain lines in super hero media.
It really was
Dude I just saw the comic strip where he says this line and that shit ten times as crazy as this. Check it out if you get the chance.

Agreed. or Rorschach in Watchmen “You’re locked in here with me!”
That line was straight from the comics
In the comics he talked about god being a scam too, this scene is very similar to that
Way better in live actionntoo

I love how this scene mirrors super man all stars comic where he saves a person from the same situation
2:10 his acting when he says he gives his whole fucking life is awesome.
This was a great adaptation of the actual part in the comics, while putting a twist on the same scene where Superman saves a girl from suicide.
I love this scene
Iconic
I love it cause it’s the most accurate scene to the comics, it has the same feeling too
Superman: (manages to talk down a girl about to jump)
Homelander: "do a flip on the way down"

Among the truly great scenes ever put to film.
