I love this shit lol The combat is fun as hell for both Noctis and Gladio (not able to play with Prompto cuz no season pass 😛) I just love the different feel of commanding your team. only the sword of wise in pious version is longer in range & has fatal finisher than the normal one. & yes, Scepter of Pious is most underrated Royal Arms out there.

Bro. You deserve WAY more traffic. I rock a magic build and you are right on with this weapon. Its actually essential to any mage build. I don't use the bow of the clever, though I guess I should considering I do a good amount of damage with it, but instead I usually have a spell or Ring of the Lucii in that slot. Keep a one handed sword (Ultima Blade preferably) and the Flayer in the other two slots. I change accessories based on encounter, but the basic setup is Hypno Crown, Applied Sorcery, and Onion Bangle. I could swap that out for another magic buff, but I find 1400 magic to be sufficient with Royal Fatigues (no jacket)

And that warp strike is just so good :D Though, I very much like the idea of having a sword and a spear in the for the versatility they bring. Applied Sorcery is an interesting choice. Asetoni FFXV I do use them, but not nearly as much as I just chuck spells lol. Applied Sorcery is really because my style of fighting is that of the Hit N Run variety. Gladio is set up to Tank/ Crowd Control, Ignis to Heal/Provide I Frames with Overwhelm or Regroup (and very rarely cause stop on some enemies), and Prompto is the perpetual annoyance with poison, Piercer, rapid fire stun and the myriad other debuffs from Starshell. My Noctis is set up for the DPS. Drop nuke, warp to target (or targets not being killed by nuke), airdance/ Blindside attacks with the limit break node active, warp out of the way of counter attack damage (preferably to a warp point so the next warp strike is somewhat significant in the way of damage, break, or knockdown) So I do a lot of warping at fast pace which leads to me continually running low on MP. I can't be bothered to top off every single time, so Applied Sorcery keeps the flow of combat going and gives I frames as well. Ring of the Lucii is my cheese strat for just walking through stuff I otherwise don't wanna deal with, but also don't wanna run away from. (ie Magitek Troopers, The enemies before Zu on Ravatogh) And its just so powerful now. Everything dies immediately with death and Holy does so much, Alterna is only ever used to be flashy. Thanks to the rule that you cannot use the Ring in Timed Hunts, which usually take up my playtime trying to get high on the board, I developed a sort of involuntary detachment from it.
Nice! I will definetly try this build. What I dislike about Zwill is that you either have to spam items (which I don't like) or have to swap it out if you ever get touched by a Daemon. When doing the Costlemark and Steyliff Menaces, for example, that is very relevant. I think a majority of the rooms are Daemons, so if you make one mistake, you have to change your build untill the next campsite (or use an elixir / healcast). That's why I end up using Balmung / Apocalipse (or Duel Code, it seemed to do more damage on lone enemies) for most rooms in my run. This build looks interesting for not requiring you to be at full HP, but with the squishiness and HP loss I might end up using a few items anyway (edit: I just realized the squishiness doesn't affect me because I don't have V2s anyway hehe). Now I kinda want to do NG+ twice for max Magic btw (I'm on my first playthrough)!
Yea, Zwill can be very item-intensive at times, but you're wrong about one thing. The damage buff is based on your current HP total, so daemons reducing your max HP doesn't permanently take away that. Still, every time you get hit it does temporarily become a normal endgame weapon instead of being the godlike destruction machine it is at full health. I very much recommend the Adamantite Bangle if you're going to Costlemark or want to avoid using items at all costs. I'm able to do without it outside Costlemark, but I'm not taking a glass cannon build into that dungeon.
Thanks for the correction! I assumed you needed 100% max HP, so any permanent dmg would take away the buff. I had never properly tested it. My first Costlemark Run was made with Lasagna mostly for the EXP buff (since I wasn't yet lvl 120) but the 4k HP almost maxes out most Bros' HP and the elemental immunity nullifies many of the worst attacks (the Birfrost comes to mind). So I rarely got into trouble and used Healcast mostly to "power up" Zwill by healing a little max HP dmg (in my incorrect understanding). But with other food (like crit), Adamantite Bangle could really come in handy. Thanks for the help!
Is the information here still applicable on the royal edition out for the PC? Seems to do very little damage compared to the ultima blade and I used magic boosting acc.
The scepter transforms to that weapons from when they released the game? Because I played in 2018 and I don't remember that.. When warping after throwing the fork the scepter didn't transform in to an axe back in 2018...they updated it with a new patch or what? Pls help me, thank you!
I noticed there was certain weapons that were oddly easy to wreck enemies but there are soo many variations and combos based on weapon, button mashing and countering I just went with a hack n slash play style with random timed counters

When I get to my ps4 I will confirm this, but if you do an Aerial Attack, do you skip the combo starter? Maybe Im confusing things here, but I was using a lot the Aerial Attack and than doing the combo (I dont remember if it had a combo starter afterwards or not). I dont like Zwill. I like switching weapons, so I always use Royal Arms.
MemoriesLP Yes, doing the aerial attack skips the combo starter if you're close enough. That's the idea behind changing targets with aerial attacks. I used to like Zwill a lot, but then I just used it everywhere because it was so good and kinda grew bored of it. Also I dislike how it can't be used well with Royal Arms.

Thats why I watch it 2 times, in case I dont miss any small detail.
(I know a bit late, but its good to note regardless) The scepter had gotten a nerf, where is doesn't produce the clones anymore. I don't know if any of the stats were gimped, but the lack of clones is certain, either that, or I'm just a complete moron. EDIT: after some testing stuffs, I was just being a moron.
I hadn't played with it in a while so I went ahead and tested it. It still produces the clones like it used to. Are you sure you were using the trident form attacks for this? Those have always been the only attacks that produce them.
How do you even choose to use the spear moveset? On ps4 holding O is just the sword swinging. O + forward is the chainsaw great sword. I wish you actually said the controls for how to do it because I can't ever get the spear moveset to come out.
O + backwards (away from the enemy) I didn't include the moveset explanation in this video because I already had a full series dedicated to showing end explaining the movesets of all weapons in the game, and the repetition would have been redudant. Trident of the Oracle has the same main combo, but other than that, it's a completely different weapon. It scales with strength, has different directional attacks and aerial attacks. Overall, the Scepter is noticeably better, but Trident is still one of the best weapons in the game.

I think the scepter is the second best arm first being katana
