    I think Ignis is my favorite FF character in the entire franchise. He is so loyal, and he gave the ultimate price to help Noctis (episode: Ignis) He has served Noctis since Noct was 6yrs old and watched him grow up. Ignis is always there to bring logic to a situation when things seem hopeless. And as the game goes on, you see just how much Ignis cares about noct. Ignis is the PERFECT retainer! he is clever, he likes energy drinks (not important..just awsome!) he fights with his entire being to defend Noctis..and even when he suffers his injury he wants to be with Noct,and shows just how far he is willing to go. I adore the concept of Ignis, I love him so much! ty for this video, its gonna make controlling him in game alittle more enjoyable. thank you!

    One day I'll have the free time (that doesn't involve decompressing) to do the Prompto and Ignis guides as well >_> University is kicking my ass this term.

    Amazing as aways!
    You did a good joob at explaining it, its complicated, but you showed it in a nice way.
    At least the hardest part is done!

    A note I think you missed:
    While charging Total Clarity manually (via holding Triangle), Ignis's damage multiplier will not go down. Useful if you have 4.0 or near 4.0 and want to blast something, but don't quite have full Clarity.

    Been watching a lot of your stuff in the wake of my purchase of FFXV for Windows. The game omits some pretty vital info and I have been enjoying combat a lot more thanks to some of your stuff (and switching to layout C :P )
    Thanks & Subbed !

    Awesome video, glad to finally see it! It's good to see an in depth analysis of these characters to fully understand and strategize. Ignis is particularly interesting since his moveset makes him similar to a scholar and/or gambler class and incredibly unique from anything else you see in the game.
    One thing I would like to see is a damage comparison with Ignis(flame daggers) vs Noctis using the zwill crossblades, but I know you're busy and I'm not gunna shove anymore videos at you lol.

    • @asetoniffxv22
      @asetoniffxv22  6 лет назад +9

      I'm always busy, but I'll still gladly take requests any day. That being said, I can with fair confidence say that if Iggy is also using Zwill then he'll win without much trouble (unless the enemy resists fire). Not only does he attack faster than Noct, that damage multiplier is insane and it stacks multiplicatively with Zwill's for a sweet 7.2x damage modifier. Or 14.4x with overclock... Then add crit food and you got yourself a multiplier of 28.8x
      It makes absolutely no fucking sense.

      Asetoni FFXV well, I know what I'm doing for every fight for the rest of the late game 😂 thanks again though, great job on the analysis 👍

    Ignis is like combining the avatar with raiden from metalgear vergil style and the lead singer of O Zone into one character, yeah a really weird mix if you ask me.

    Ignis + Garuda daggers = nightmare of single enemies. His damage with fire daggers is just hellish! With damage multiplier x4 his attacks dealt like 5000 damage per hit and his fire total clarity does 9999 damage! I used to walkthrough Bloody Palace (steyliff vault) using Ignis against single enemies.

    Holy fuck i don't understand how you figured out the combo counters, thats insane but the whole combo w/ so many combo enders was glorious to watch omg.

    Also, you can stop the damage gauge from depleting if you use triangle to charge total clarity...
    isn't the most useful thing but it can save you time if the enemy aggro changes to other and you are waiting for a quick burst damage with Fire daggers

    Damn man, this must've been fun to record huh? A few things:
    - the dodge attack in Flamebind (I find) is if you dodge just after hitting your opponent successfully. I've been practicing with him lately and have had this happen more often than you think. The regular dodge just seems to be there if you can't get this version out. Also, Ignis has an Up+O that's surprisingly good at knock back/staggering
    - you can dodge with other daggers so to speak, but they aren't good for single target like Flamebind. For Frostbind, you can switch to Flame in the middle of your hits and dodge that way. For storm, you can only do a backflip. It's also worth noting that you can only do this backflip while you're not locked on. It's hard to time, since Ignis can be staggered quite easily and he attacks first before dodging.
    - locking on turns Stormbind into single target compared to not locking on
    - the damage meter isn't there just for show. It increases damage, but one of the key components of Ignis' gameplay is the damage meter, as well as the dodge in Flamebind. What it does is after hitting a certain threshold (about x 3.0 or so) Ignis' daggers will start to change in appearance with their element (for example, Flame starts to have a brighter blaze). This is important because what it does for Flamebind+Frost/Storm is that it makes it easier to stagger enemies as well as doing more damage to them. This is also where dodging comes into play, if you correctly dodge an enemy's attack you can keep building up the meter until you start staggering them. This promotes a different play style as opposed to relying on Counterstrike too much
    - aerial attack (long distance) for Flamebind is best followed up by aerial attack for Stormbind. The aerial attack (long distance) for Flamebind staggers most enemies

      Oh recording was fun. Especially when the &%*$ing garula decides to headbutt me just when I thought I had the perfect clip -.-
      I dunno about the dodge attack. Trying it on Adamantoise right now, I'm able to do it out of neutral. What type of attack with Up+O? Afaik, it only lets you do a dodge forward if you're not right next to the enemy...
      Yea, fast element swaps let you use the dodge move "D" whenever you want. The reason why you can only do the backflip after strombound attack is because in order to do the sidestep, you gotta be close to the enemy, but those dashes almost always leave you a few meters away from them.
      About the stagger on the damage meter... I noticed that too, but stagger seems to sometimes be tied to your damage output, so it could be just caused by the higher damage modifier. I'm not sure though, it could also be that a certain threshold in the damage multiplier gives higher stagger modifier as well...
      That aerial combo is something I didn't even think about, but trying it now, it feels so good to use! Thanks!

    • @souloftherisingsun8274
      @souloftherisingsun8274 6 лет назад

      Asetoni FFXV the Up+O when timed correctly is an uppercut that has a high rate of staggering. I've even knocked down MT Assassins with it. If you aren't activating it, it must be due to targeting/your position/the enemy. You have to be close to activate it and you have to be in the middle of a flame combo. I'm still going to chalk up the stagger to the damage multiplier because it really looks like when your daggers change, you start hitting hard which means you start staggering too. I could be wrong about that though. As for the aerial combo, anytime! Stormbind was gimped on its own and was too situational for my liking, but I was surprised at how well it complimented the aerial attack for Flamebind. Can't say the same for Frost though

      By the way, I forgot to mention something. In the Episode Ignis trailer you used to be able to cancel into the flame ender. Now you can't do it anymore. I'm debating whether or not this was a good choice

    Ignis has one of the most coolest move sets!

  • @coolguy02536
    @coolguy02536 6 лет назад

    -Ignis’ damage multiplier won’t go down when charging total clarity, using it, or using a tech. Good for the Lightning daggers since you’ll struggle to build or maintain a multiplier with them.
    -Fire total clarity also has a relatively short maximum range and I don’t think the blasts move through objects.
    -Overclock SHOULD strengthen the element you have selected, but it’s random which sucks.
    -Quick Recipe SHOULDN’T give debuffs for a 3-bar tech, but it does so it’s mostly unreliable too.
    So as Ignis, I’m just spamming High Jump. Good for AP farming. Also, I think this was only an issue outside of his episode, but I couldn’t use jump to actually get around terrain. If the jump failed he’d just come slamming back down to where he was standing.

    • @pablo5425
      @pablo5425 6 лет назад

      overclock strengthens a random element because if you decide to strengthen the enemy weak element, you couild defeat him with 1 hit. its made to balance the battle. but still, 33.3% chances

  • @justunnam3d
    @justunnam3d 2 года назад +1

    From what I know the 3 talismans weren’t in the game yet when this was made, the ones that give a bit of every stat and a unique bonus while playing as nocts frienss
    For Ignis doubles total clarity gain rate
    Gladio gets increased gain rate for his ability meter
    Prompto get unlimited SMG ammo

    • @asetoniffxv22
      @asetoniffxv22  2 года назад

      Yeah, they weren't in the game at the time, but the exact numbers are:
      Wanderer's Talisman: +50% Total Clarity rate
      Tall's Talisman: +75% Valor gauge rate
      Clever's Talisman: Unlimited SMG ammo, +50% crit rate
      And for the stats, they all give +10 to every stat, including elemental defences and HP regen rate (but not MP regen rate)
      They are almost always worth equipping if you've swapped to the character, but not great on the AI versions.

    Wow! I think I'll stick to random elementals "swaps" then. I'm glad I get around most of the other things, except that damn evade move. I can never get it right, do you have to press square instantly, or after half a second, or just before the prompt goes away... I need to practice that.

    • @chillkid6450

      Sunila aka DragonladyCH after like half a second from getting hit, though you can pull it off without the prompt having even popped up on the screen yet

      This is more of an advanced explanation of how Ignis fully works, no one really knows if it's intended to work like this.
      Not a lot of people will go far in learning the combat of the game anyways
