    Great work as always! I do love me some numbers and graphs as a math student. I went and checked the official guide and that seems to be where the misinformation comes from. The exact text is "Damage bonus with lower MP: +4% damage for every percentage point reduction." However that quote comes from the base 1.0 version of the game when the Balmung had 248 attack power (there's an update for the Crown update but it only lists the new numeric changes), so I guessing they raised its damage and made MP drain reduce damage, or the writers just misunderstood the effect.
    Only other thing I can add is that you can replace the follow-up slash in the side attack with the forward attack to make it quicker. Sometimes useful since you're not in animation lock for as long.

      Ah, I had a feeling it might be the official guide, but didn't realize it might have gotten changed with a patch. That really explains this whole mess then. I wonder why they changed it.. or rather, I wonder how this didn't get past balancing QA when Zwill did...
      Interesting thing about the side attack, I didn't know it could be cancelled like that. It still comes out as a bit "meh" for me because the step is so small and sometimes doesn't even move you, but it's good to know that I can be cancelled.

    Today I bring you a taste Asetoni FFXV’s extra special behind the scenes cut content bullshit that didn’t fit into the video but are still worth mentioning. First, I have something to say about various wiki’s formulas for Balmung’s damage penalty.
    The Fextralife wiki says that Balmung loses 4 points of damage for every 1% of missing MP. This would mean you would at most lose 400 damage at 0 MP. However, some testing shows that the damage difference can be much greater than that.
    The IGN wiki says Balmung’s damage *increases* by 4% for every 1% of missing MP, so they clearly didn’t even bother with testing.
    According to the FFXV wiki, the damage loss is minus 4% for every 1% of missing MP. This is kind of strange, since it should by this formula reach -400% damage at 0 mp, which isn’t really possible. Even if it works based on some threshold system, where with every percentage of MP you deal 4% less damage than one percentage higher, some quick math shows that the damage reduction still goes way off the charts. A problem with this one and the Fextralife formula is that they don’t really specify what gets reduced and how.
    The reason I brought up these wikis is because, despite the fact that they disagree with oneanother, there is an obvious trend in all of them (+/- 4(%) for every 1% of missing MP), so clearly they aren’t pulling these out of thin air. However, what I found is nothing like what these guides seem to claim, and it is why I’m sceptical of my own results. This is also the reason why I’m hesitant to go correct the fan wikis, I don’t want to accidentally spread misinformation in these places. These other guides should be far more credible sources than some youtube nobody, so please take my findings with a grain of salt. Does the official guide say anything about Balmung?
    Another thing I wanted to mention is Blood Sword. It’s kinda shitty compared to Ultima/Balmung, but the healing part of it is interesting. It seems to randomly heal 80 hp when you hit enemies. Afaik, this is the only source of flat healing in the game. This means it might be useful for some super glass cannon level 1 Royal Arm build for healing the self damage, but healing being randomized still makes it kinda meh. Nonetheless, it’s an interesting weapon.
    Also is it just me or is there something strange about the BGM in this video...? it sounds different from what it was before uploading. Or am I just crazy?

      Good job on this video, very interesting =) I think your findings about the Balmung a much more accurate and reliable than the wikis, as I also don't notice any difference in Damage until I lose 30% MP.
      About the Audio: I can't say anything about it, as I don't know how it sounded before =)

      Thanks! Good to hear some confirmation for this and Reki's post explained the situation pretty well.
      The music sounds like the volume goes up and down randomly, but looking back, it might just be the track itself...

    Great content. Love this channel. Keep it up! Also thanks for crunching the numbers no one else wants to. I sure as hell am not going to be figuring out exactly how much bonus damage Zwills do at max HP. Thanks for being the internet's FFXV stat guru.

    wish they would make aerial type enemies that stay up high and more aerial type weapons to make use of the air step or an aerial boss only noct could fight

    I remember early in the game I was all like I need to switch to whatever weapon the enemy was weak against. Then I realized it's a pain to check for that info when battling a enemy every time because you either need to play in wait mode to check which I don't like playing in. Pause your game and check the bestisry. Or have ignis do it sometimes randomly. I kinda just stopped caring and went through the whole game just using swords and spells. The other slots was just stuff with good stat boosts. I guess if anyone really wanted you could just remember if it's a enemy you seen before or check by using different weapons mid battle. On a side note I completed the main story at lvl 99 and over 120 hours into the game. Yeah I'm kinda the do EVERYTHING first before story guy. And there is still more things I need to do

    Very informative video! Also, is it possible to have an analysis on Gladio's moveset in Episode Gladiolus?

    • @asetoniffxv22
      @asetoniffxv22  7 лет назад +2

      I was originally going to make a video on Gladio, but decided against it for two reasons.
      It's only used for one 2 hour DLC, so making a video about it is quite redundant. If I had started making a video way back when it was released, it would still have taken at least a week and by then 95% of people would have completed the DLC. The DLC has no replay value, so people likely wont return to it later on and thus making a video about it would be kind of pointless. This might change however, if Gladiolus is playable with his DLC moveset in the upcoming multiplayer DLC.
      The other reason is because Gladio's movest is very shallow. You got a useless punch as forward + attack, a useless sword throw as backwards + attack and a useless charge move as hold backwards + attack. Many attacks in the main game aren't that great either, but it was exceptionally bad in episode Gladiolus. Also, unlike the main game, episode Gladiolus actually explains his moveset (although only in loading screens iirc).
      If the multiplayer DLC makes use of that combat system, then I'll be sure to make a guide on it, but right now I don't see the point in making one.

    1:04-1:14 you do a string of what looks like finishers, I can tell you're waiting and then pressing o again to get one of those attacks, but two of those stagger like attacks in a row? And on and on? thanks asetoni!

    • @asetoniffxv22
      @asetoniffxv22  3 года назад

      I actually don't do two in a row, I only do 3 Finishers during those 10 seconds, the rest of the attacks are normal hits I do in between because two Finishers can't be done in succession.

      @@asetoniffxv22 your knowledge on this game is by far unmatched. You turned from this game from frustrating and confusing, to clear, manageable, and fun for SO MANY OF US, I dare say it's priceless. I do have one more question tho. Katana of the warrior, can you remember it's overall point? When I use it, it seems to just do one big clump of attacks, locking you in an animation, I see no difference in attacks when using directional attacks, I see no change in it's combo at all. When I switch weapons from it, then switch back to it, it seems to just start back from the beginning, and you can't seem to cancel attacks for a Dodge, phase, or anything defensive. Any tips?

      @@bigcsbigbrother3685 Thanks for the compliments ^^
      The Katana of the Warrior is unfortunately one of those disappointing weapons that simply don't have much variety. Like you've noticed, it doesn't have any directional attacks or Finishers at all. All it has going for it are its basic combo and warp strike.
      The basic combo has a strong opener and ender, and its hits are relatively fast, in terms of damage output, it's actually slightly higher than basic sword ground combo. That's sadly its main selling point: it deals slightly above average damage. It's a "hold O"-weapon.
      The warp strike has some use because it can be used to burst down troublesome enemies like bombs or magitek assassins (in small numbers), but it has one of the worst damage:HP-cost ratios of all Royal Arm weapons, so it's usually very costly to do so, even though you are I-framed when using it.
      So yeah, there isn't any secret to the weapon, because there really isn't much it can do. In terms of usefulness, it's an average C-tier weapon simply because of its main combo damage, but sadly not particularly interesting to use.

    Do you think its possible to do menace in costlemark at lvl 1?

    • @asetoniffxv22
      @asetoniffxv22  7 лет назад

      Certainly, but you'll want to have magitek suit V2s or some other crazy stat boosting gear to not die in one hit. Equalizer might help a lot too. In the end, anything is possible at least in theory since there are no unavoidable attacks in this game.
