Removing Stuck Frigidaire PureSource Filter

- There are a lot of tutorials out there that shows trying to disassemble the mechanism to eject a stuck filter. In my experience, this is mainly due to ice formation around the part that holds the filter, and the solution is to melt that ice.
I never leave comments but was inclined to do so with this. Hair dryer worker perfectly. I was ready to buy a new fridge. Thank you so much!
Hairdryer saved my life. Thank you so much for this video.
Wow! This video appeared in my email the exact day I was planning to call a technician to come and unstick my filter. I followed your boiled water instructions. That did it! THANK YOU!😊
You're a life saver!
I'm visiting my parents in Florida.
And their filter is stuck totally.
This warm water method saved the day .
The old filter has been stuck for over a year.
Hair Dryer
I just watched your video and I never thought that there would be ice formation behind there with a irrigation syringe it popped right out thank you
Thank you for this video! I've seen others with people completely taking everything apart and it seems like a hassle. I'll definitely give this a shot and pray!
Thanks for the video, hair dryer worked for me,
Only video that worked! Thank you for your service man!!!
Thanks for the video, I never considered the filter freezing up. I used a hair dryer, it worked great. It's nice to have water flow again.
Thank you
Thanks for this video. The steam didn't work out but the hair dryer did it!!!! I was about ready to take a hammer to the darned stuck filter until I thought to Google "how to remove a stuck chemical reduction water filter."
Thank you so much. I just looked this up 2day. I was about to pull my hair out but then used the steam method. IT WORKED!!!
Thanks so much. About 45 seconds with a hair dryer and it came free. I was worried it would be a big ordeal and it wasn't.
Great help. Thanks so much!
The mug with hot water helped 👌🏽perfect..thank you life saver ☺️
I think I turned my filter to far to the right. How do I get it out??
This worked for me. I don't believe it was ice. What I learned. I kept pushing on it. But it was already in. After turning off the fridge and letting two cups of hot water warm up the filter, I dried off the condensation and _pulled_ it out. When I put in the new one, I pushed it in and pulled it out to the stop.
Thank you !!!
Thank You so much :)
Gonna try this!
You Rock!
Hairdryer for the win!! Glad I read the comments!
hair dryer did it . thank you so much ❤
Will the filter last any longer if you remove it when ice not need-like winter time?
i don’t know. in my case i don’t really change it when “change filter” light comes on once…i just reset 2 or 3 more times when it comes on without changing the filter…i probably change my filter on average once every 18 months.
I have the same model. I tried 10 different ways to try to pop the filter off and failed. Out of desperation, I saw another video on replacing the base of the filter. I unsnapped the side panel off with a screw driver. Then removed a phillip screw and took the cover out. Then the juggled the filter came off before putting every thing back.
The problem was the mating socket was loose in he base.
Where in the world is the air filter in the French door type?
this is for the water filter, not air filter.
1) turn off ice maker before removing (if it cycles while the filter is out water will come out of the open connection).
2) try putting downward pressure on the end while pushing in. Its more typical the the release spring/teeth are just jammed too tight. Even if it is caused by ice that could break it loose.
3) ok, try melting the ice. Just don't dissemble anything unless its leaking. 99% of the time its just a stuck (not broken) ratchet slider.
would using a hair dryer on it work?
yes that should also work, in fact that's one of the commenters here did exactly just that. the key is to apply heat, but not too hot that it would melt the plastic parts.
Cannot possibly freeze on a bottom freezer unit. Non Frigidaire filters, which we all buy because we don’t want to get ripped off, don’t fit correctly and sometimes get STUCK
this is what i thought as well when i first encountered this problem...but ice formation does happen (even when using Frigidaire filters) ...don't take my word for it, see this video ruclips.net/video/fNacq0IrH88/видео.html
Ours won't pop back in. Willing to try.
This happens to me as well...you just need to wait a bit more for ice build-up to thaw out...it will pop back in.
did not work
Turn off water, remove housing, grab and twist real hard, pick up all the broken pieces, jam the new filter in and turn on the water, replace housing,
Wtf?
This a joke??
yes.
