So underrated movie, the only downfall for the movie not becoming a hit was people not understanding it was not a Christmas movie it was rather a Easter movie
I can not begin to tell you how many times I have had to explain to my mom that this is an Easter movie. Every Christmas, she recommends we watch it. (Which I'm fine with, only because I love this movie. Not because it's a Christmas movie.) And every Easter, I have to fight to make watching this movie an option. 😭
And lack of marketing. Not a lot of people knew what this movie was about and because of the title so many people thought this was a sequel to a certain owl movie.
This is my favorite holiday movie. Jack Frost's backstory and center is so tragic and moving. He didn't just save his sister in that moment, he made her FEEL safe in the midst of danger, and it was that ability that made the Moon choose him. The Guardians protect children from darkness and fear. Jack does it by making cold and winter, a time that by all rights should be miserable and terrifying for us as humans, into something beautiful and fun. He takes something that children should fear and helps them find the fun in it, just like he did with his sister on the ice. That ability is why he's essential to defeating Pitch. Pitch's power doesn't come from belief, it comes from fear. As Jamie said "I do believe in you. I'm just not afraid of you." If a nightmare isn't scary then it's just a dream.Their lack of fear turned the nightmares back into dreams and brought back Sandman.
This is exactly why I love this movie so much! It wasn’t just a very well done film, it transports you back to your childhood. I wish there was a reboot or something that extended the Guardian’s stories because they have so much more then the film showed. I also wanted to say that this movie has been my emotional anchor. See, I love movies, art, etc. After I loss my dog, Chloe, I was very depressed and had a MAJOR block. (writer’s and artist’s block) Became of this, I was frustrated that I couldn’t do what I love. This movie gave me hope (no pun intended, lol) to get out of my depression and was able to do the things I ❤️, so thank you DreamWorks. (Love you Miss C🐾
I wish this was more popular than it was and didn't bomb so hard. It's truly a masterpiece of an animated movie. I love the attention to detail like for instance Jack's old brown cloak was so fluid and they even one-upped it and added light blue shimmers that changes according to how the cloak moves? Even the storyline was good. I'm glad you guys watched it!
yeah, rise of the guardians was my favorite movie growing up. It's still up there even now, to be honest. as i grew up, i realized not a lot of people around me know the film and I was so confused because it's so amazing i thought it was as successful as the other movies.
18:57 Also when you think about it, Jack had 300 years of not knowing who he was before. He had no idea, so for Pitch to activate his memories partly compelled him to go and find them. It was like the need to know was sort of controlling him. This is such a good movie. I wish there is a sequel or at least episodes exploring more about this world.
I just love the way they depict jack frost flying!!! It's a cool detail because he isn't really flying but gliding or riding the wind like a snow flake would...It almost kind of looks like he commands or asks the wind for a ride in the beginning
I think the reason Jack can hold Sophie is because shes sleep. She's not aware, but I think just because he cant be seen doesnt mean he can't affect things like walking on power lines, jumping on desks, picking up toys etc. Little things I noticed: Jack must be a descendant of Jamie's because he and his sister looks similar which lends to why he seems attached to him & his family. Jack's hometown must have eventually turned into wherever they are now, im assuming Pennsylvania as they arent too far from Michigan, because the lake he died and rose on is the same one we see at the end of the film, hence him being taken home earlier in the film. Oh I love this film. Completely underrated and Im happy its gettingna resurgence. If yall haven't check out Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole.
Love this movie, there are a lot of people who will defend the HELL out of this movie because it is honestly underrated. Not enough people talk or react to Guardians and I think it’s a nice feel good movie.
This is based on a series of books called "Guardians of Childhood", by William Joyce, who has also worked on various animated TV & movies. Each character has their own book, with their origin story, what they did as a human that got them chosen. There is also a book on the Man in the Moon if you want to know his origin.
This movie had, so many great actors such as Jude Law as Pitch, Hugh Jackman as Bunny, Alec Baldwin as Santa/North, and Chris Pine as Jack Frost. Jude Law performance in this film is so spectacular, he played the part well and was very convincing with his voice acting.
I love this movie, and I had the same thought about needing a sword wielding Russian Santa in my life, and I can't imagine him any other way now. One of my favorite moments of this film was when the Tooth Fairy punched out one of Pitch's teeth. It was the reason she could that I loved. Her whole schict is if she takes a tooth, she leaves a quarter. But, apparently, it works in reverse too. When she tossed Pitch a quarter and he caught it and kept it, it meant she was entitled to one of his teeth. That was why she was able to damage an immortal like Pitch. And Pitch was, never, the nightmare's master. That power was never his. He stole and perverted Sandy's sand. So as soon as he had to admit he was afraid, and he ALWAYS knows when someone is afraid, even himself, he couldn't control them anymore. If they were to, ever, continue this story, Jamie should become a guardian too. His center is, clearly, courage and belief. He refused to stop believing in the Guardians, even when all his friends would ridicule him for it.
Well, if you think about it, Jack has been a teenager for hundreds of years. So I don't blame him for falling for the voice thing pitch did, plus he was desperate to know something about himself.
Love this film! Watched it twice in theaters back in 2012. This film is based on the "Guardians of Childhood" book series, so this movie was all about the kids. That is why the adults' faces were never shown.
I love the concept of a Justice League of classic children's Legends also love how they make the characters feel like straight up superheroes Santa Claus has a very Batman vibe to him being the leader with all the resources and equipment transportation secret headquarters sandman feels very much like a Green lantern with the constructs highly visual creative power set
Sandy is my favorite, the Superman of the group, so they had to bench him. Had pitch gone after anyone else, Sandy would have just countered with giving the kids great dreams anout the other guardians.
Another movie that flew under the radar during Pixar era is Legends of the Guardians - The olws of Ga hoole. Its not even rated as much as deserves. Zack Snyder created it and I enjoy it more than many disney or pixar movies.
Bruhh, kung fu panda, shrek, how to train ur dragon, megamind n even this movie, all are dreamworks movie. Sony has its own animation department which has done spiderverse n many other animated movies
The characters are really the best part of this franchise. From the designs, the voices, and the personalities everything was so creative and fun. I never thought I would love Jack Frost so much, his origin is so sad and sweet at the same time💙
This was such an amazing movie! Such a stellar cast, great villain, background score and I agree with Gordon, sandman was EPIC👏🏻👏🏻 his character had no dialogue but the design and presence was fantastic! It was so sad to see such a great movie didn’t do well in theatres, because anyone i ask most people like this movie
I've rewatched this film many times, absolutely one of my favourites and I think everyone who has seen it can understand why. It's so so sad it didn't do well in theatres at the time of release, as I would have LOVED to see more, but even as its standalone self it's amazing so I can't complain too much haha. Great video!
This movie is one of my fav but the thing is the books are way more interesting.. It explores the original story of pitch black, jack frost and the man in the moon and their relationship. SPOILERS!!!! . Pitch black has one of the most heartbreaking back story i have ever read.. that is why he is very complex and one of my fav "villians" .. He wasnt always the nightmare king but a golden general called *kozimos pintcher* who protected a golden kingdom that was far away from earth..this kingdom was ruled by a kind and powerful king who trusted kozimos to protect his people from the darkness that was created by fear and nightmares.. So with an army behind him he manged to capture it and locked it in seals meant to keep them away forever to create a peaceful world again .. But he wasnt fadt enough because the darkness manged to kill his beloved wife and duaghter.. 💔 And because these seals needed a guardian the king chose kozimos for this cost.. After losing his family he slowly began to lose his mind and the darkness used that to their benefit by mimicking his duaghter's voice to isnt dead and had been captured by them this whole time .. "she" cried for her father to save her for months and in the end kozimos couldnt take it anymore and was forced to open the seals to save "his duaghter".. instead he got posessed by the darkness and became pitch black...he corrupted his army of golden warriors to become nightmares and nightmare men and with them he manged to destroy the kingdom he once swore to protect and killed the king and the queen.. However.. before they were killed they used a powerful magic to protect their one_year old son whom named *manny* aka the man in the moon .. This powerful magic created a star called *the nightlight* who took the baby faraway from the fallen kingdom and planned on taking him to earth but pitch black followed them and fought the nightlight into a battle So huge it ended up freezing them both in a lake on earth and leaving manny on the moon.. After So many years the baby became *the man in the moon* and with his power he tried to raise his guardian from the lake But in doing so the nightmare king was awaken too and that was the start of *the dark ages*.. On The other hand the nightlight tried to stop him by dreaming and he manged So while the man in the moon chose the other guardians to spread hope and wonder without Actually meeting jack frost .. after that the nightlight decided to change his fate from dying and becoming a star to search for the family he saw in his dream and become human called "jack frost" and he found them and lived with them for a long time that is how he met his "sister" whom he loved dearly.. The lake accident was done by a loyal servent of pitch black who broke the ice trying to kill both of them but jack stepped in and saved her .. Jack frost didnt Actually died in the lake he got frozen and in Order for pitch black not finding him he let go of his power and memories.. That explian why he doesnt remember anything from his childhood.. The story is so beautiful that it deserve an original movie but the studio is stupid for not even trying to do So.. 💔
This movie was soooooo cool to watch in the movie because every time the boogie man circle around a character or goes off screen. The audio quality is 10/10
There's so many things I question and don't make sense, but I still love it. The animation is beautiful and a great hero's journey story. This movie made me realize Chris Pine has an amazing voice specifically characters that are hopeful heroes.
This is a firm favourite with me, my girls were terrified of Pitch though, which allowed me to enjoy in peace lol. It never got its proper moment in the sun, but I love seeing it being discovered by a new audience. Good to see you guys. Flash, please watch Into the Spiderverse its outstanding!!

Just want to point out that this comment will be LONG…. So here we go! I just wanted to point out that worry and doubt (which is what Jamie was feeling as the nightmares came towards him) is an extension of fear. (You also cannot say that Jamie was not doubtful or anxious because he closes his eyes before the nightmares reach him which is another form of running away or escaping from the present situation.) You do not necessarily need to be scared in order to feel various types of fear such as panic, anxiety, distress, absolute terror, desperateness & uneasiness to name a few. We also know that Sand Man was brought back through combined means of his corrupted sand matched with courage (what Jamie presented), which also means that Pitch is also VERY likely to be resurrected as well when a child inevitably gets scared of something and their imagination conjures up monsters and other things. We also need to acknowledge that Pitch is VERY important to a child's safety and mental state, nightmares are formed as a result of a recurring problem or stressful situation in the waking life. Nightmares are just the body's subconscious way of working through the emotions. My main point is that without Pitch and without fear the world would descend into chaos as people would not fear any consequences that would result from their actions. Fear is a protective emotion and its main point is to monitor and measure potential dangers and how much they are a threat to the individual, even the individual's own ideas, thoughts & possible actions. (Hence the saying “Think before you do”) Fear is probably the body's most effective/important survival mechanism. Like anything EVERYTHING needs a balance in order to work, so to compare Sandman and Pitch are opposites and are the reason that the other exists. I hope that each and every single one of you has an amazing rest of your week!
I wish this had done better, as with most Dreamworks films. Would have done great as a movie series, I’ve heard that the children’s book series of the same name is really good. The league of extraordinary gentlemen was one of my dads favourite movies of all time, he made us watch it a bazillion times so I appreciate it for the fact it gave us special time with my father but also it wasn’t very good. Lol
You guys should watch "Epic". It's a great animated film but it's been ignored by most reactors so far. Also you should watch "Legend of the Guardians - the Owls of Ga'hoole" directed by Zach Snyder. It is so good !!
Frozen - Elsa Rise of the Guardians - Jack Frost Elsa + Jack Frost = Jelsa These two are like lovers and like lovers. I want these 2 animations to meet so much. I want him to name the title Rise of the Frozen Guardians. I've seen other people or fans who like to edit pictures and videos. Some people really liked this pair.
So underrated movie, the only downfall for the movie not becoming a hit was people not understanding it was not a Christmas movie it was rather a Easter movie

(Which I'm fine with, only because I love this movie. Not because it's a Christmas movie.) And every Easter, I have to fight to make watching this movie an option. 😭
I’ve always seen it as simply a winter or spring movie. Encompassing several holidays and special events of childhood, never focusing on just one.
@Riley Garraway ... The movie litterally takes place over easter
And lack of marketing. Not a lot of people knew what this movie was about and because of the title so many people thought this was a sequel to a certain owl movie.
That, and mad other movies came out that overshadowed it. This is a hidden gem that wasn't even trying to hide

Same director as Spiderman Into the Spider-Verse - Peter Ramsey. You should watch interviews with him. He's really brilliant.

The league of extraordinary gentlemen was one of my dads favourite movies of all time, he made us watch it a bazillion times so I appreciate it for the fact it gave us special time with my father but also it wasn’t very good. Lol

I still love this movie, and it deserved a series.

Into the Spiderverse is another of my favorite movies of all time
You guys should watch "Epic". It's a great animated film but it's been ignored by most reactors so far. Also you should watch "Legend of the Guardians - the Owls of Ga'hoole" directed by Zach Snyder. It is so good !!

It would have been nice if you'd talked a bit about the actors who voiced this animated film so well.

I really like this movie.
Frozen - Elsa
Rise of the Guardians - Jack Frost
Elsa + Jack Frost = Jelsa
These two are like lovers and like lovers. I want these 2 animations to meet so much. I want him to name the title Rise of the Frozen Guardians. I've seen other people or fans who like to edit pictures and videos. Some people really liked this pair.
Flash, I hate to be a downer, but I thought you should know that the lighting makes parts of your chin look 🟠.
