My partner and I watched this movie a couple of days ago, and as horror fanatics, we've been looking for as much bts/production info as possible about it! It was amazing. Easily one of the funniest movies we've seen in the past year, from the potato-gun sequence to the "GUILTY" scene, we were laughing out loud the whole time. There were great practical effects and some good scares as well! Honestly a rare 10/10 horror, keep up the great work!
I’m so stoked for this series. As a writer and horror fan surrounded by student filmmakers, this movie made me so excited to tell stories. You can feel the personality and love that went into it, and I’m so excited to see all of that in the BTS!! I’m especially excited for the haunted bits. A ghost story about making a ghost story? Yes, please!
I’m so happy this is coming out. Not only am i a lifelong horror fan and I run this channel, and not only do I love Deadstream immensely and it was in my top 5 of 2022 and not only do I miss watching hours of behind the scenes documentaries and I mean hours😂 but acting and filmmaking is my life so seeing how y’all accomplished all of this and the journey you went through is exactly what I and we need to see🤘
Found this because my film professor told me to watch a bunch of found footage films to help with figuring out some tbings with my screenplay. The best accidental find ever! This movie is now one of my all time faves 😂❤
Just watched Deadstream for the 2nd time, absolutely loved it! I’d love to know more about the technical logistics for how you pulled this all off, including stuff like; - controlling exposure remotely on a GoPro/DJI pocket- were any of the cameras ever just ‘trusted’ to get the shot without direct monitoring? -Was editing easier or harder than traditional video, i.e was color grading really an option, and other than rotoscoping were there any major fixes that needed to be done in post? - How did you capture audio? - Was there any aspect of the AV production that could have been streamlined in hindsight? Really appreciate you giving us this inside look for free, can’t wait to watch the upcoming BTS!
Dude, DUDE! I am such a massive fan of the movie, and to see the amount of work you guys have done behind the scenes is truly an amazing thing to see! I know it's all brushed off as movie magic at the end of the day, but it's absolutely NUTS how much work you personally did for the movie. I mean, colorist, rotoscoping, surveillance security guy, catering head, AND making the potato gun? I would have probably died with half the responsibilities you had. All the more respect to everyone on the team who probably juggled so many roles too! Anyways, thanks for showing us some BTS from this fantastic movie. Deadstream is definitely one of my all time favorite movies, and I love showing it to my friends in a group setting when a bunch of them profess to not having seen it yet. Much love and respect to you, the Winters', and everyone on the team!
A review of it popped up on my feed and the guy in the vid praised it a good bit at the start (along with the comments) so I decided, what the heck let's just watch it and man it was really good! I do not regret it! I love horror films and I can say that I had a good time. Good job on you all for making it!
Just finished watching the movie! it was so much fun! And do tell us some scary/ghost stories of what happened when you we're at the house!(if there was any) ..Your new fan from Malaysia❤
Can't wait for more of these! Also, no idea why you're thanking us for giving up 88mins of our time, we're the ones who should be thanking you and it's not just 88mins, it's currently at 616mins and counting....yes I did the math!
This movie is so much fun, and it’s really such a wonderful example of a labor of love and passion. In many ways it reminds me of the Evil Dead franchise, and I find it insane how many things everyone was doing. Congrats, I loved it so much!
Thank you so much to you, and to the rest of the cast and crew. I have been watching films since Betamax in the early 80s, I also work in film myself, and I must say: Deadstream is both a fun hoot and downright terrifying, a fantastic blend of comedy and horror that had me both laughing out loud and looking away dreading the next scare. One of the best entries into the genre in ages. The whole film truly feels like being on a theme park ride! I wish you and the rest of the Deadstream team much more success in the future. ❤
hey i just finished this movie and i wanted to see more, and here i find the bts!! such a great film, loved every bits of this, hope there's more to come!!!
Are there still plans to produce this bts series? Behind-the-scenes docs are some of the best parts of the moviemaking process and while I'm stoked to watch what's on the steelbook bluray, it's a bummer to see Part 1 combined with "one year ago"
Hey @GavinGWhiz, great question, and yes, I'm still working on this. I have several follow-up videos in the works, but I've had to shift my focus over the last year to my current work. I work at Ryan Reynolds' company Maximum Effort as a director/cinematographer/editor and they've been keeping me very busy. But DEADSTREAM is an ongoing passion for me and I'm still slowly making progress on these videos. There WILL be more, hopefully by the end of the year, so stay tuned! Thanks for reaching out!
Please please please a part 2 or a similar genre horror movie. Absolutely loved it. I have been looking for similar movies since i found this one. There are very few body cam/found footage movies and this one was the bestt. BTS made me realise what it took to complete the movie! Really respect everyone involved. posting from India!
With the ongoing strikes in Hollywood "over looked" quality films like this need our help to spread the word of mouth. I love horror movies and I work in TV and Film....and heard NOTHING about this movie. I literally watched it on a whim because of the build up to Halloween on shudder. Well done for successfully setting out what was intended, that would have made you very little money. I hope RUclipsrs help market this film for you over the next year!
Thank you so much for this GEM,i loved it,you guys did an amazing job, this movie proves it,less is more! Keep going guys!I i hope you guys make more movies and thank you again!
Seen this 5 times already! Holy crap man, the nail through the shoe tho!!! My list of things I'd like to see: -Prep/Production room inside the house -Notable blooper footage -I'm curious how weather/seasons played a part, hindered or helped filming -Scary stories for sure -I know you weren't a horror guy before filming. Did you use any other movies or other media as an inspiration on how to film in such an effective way?
Awesome list! Thank you for that, and for watching it so many times! I'll be sure to address all of those questions. Quick reply on the weather: YES it made a huge impact and created several headaches. the biggest was on our first day of filming, it was crazy windy (as it often gets in that area) and the dialogue was almost unusable in spots. And our "light blocking materials" (black plastic bags) were flapping around, revealing daylight through windows, doors, and cracks. Then for the exterior car scene, we had to film at night in 10ºF, so it's a miracle it turned out as seamless as it did considering the snow on the ground and Joseph not being able to wear a coat on camera. Overall, we were really fortunate though with the weather cooperating.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it. And I can confirm we will have a steel book blu-ray release this summer, date TBD but I'll post here when we know. I just delivered a ton of exclusive bonus content for it, and it's going to be an amazing blu-ray. 💯
best thing about low budget indie films, they rely more on good plot and acting to succeed and not just CGI.. with this one, they did a great job.. congrats
Loved the movie and feels like a true successor of Evil dead. Also i have a theory that shawn actually planned everything to the last detail to get back. Recent horror movies have been a real let down, even the big name ones. This movie was everything i needed, n i prayed that this movie didn't suck once i started liking the movie after 30min.. n it didn't suck. It must be so much work making such movies yet you seem like you love your work the way you explain all this. Great work man!
An insane and fun experience, this movie did Evil Dead better than the remake, love it and gets an automatic pass as one of my favorite horror films ever.
Just saw the film and was blown away by your work. It looked like you understood the target market and it was Evil Dead for the next generation. Can I ask what movies where you inspired by when you were making this film?* (If you have time.) I imagine that evil dead and grave encounters? might be two different films. Wonderful work by the way!
This is amazing! Well done the movie was fantastic! I just finished writing a few horror stories. It would be my dream to turn them into short films one day😅
just finished it, absolutely terrifying at first, but I dont know what to feel after the reveals, it feels like I wanted more spooky, i feel like its not at its peak, but given that its an indie and budget was low, its a great film and great acting. Main actor captured how to become an irritating influencer, love it. haha
I am a HUGE fan of this movie! Amazing all around, and easily one of the best found footage movies out there. I actually cover the movie in one of our recents 'best found footage'
They need to make a sequel or something similar. Jospeh winter was hilarious as Shaun imo. People think he overdid it but hes acting like most over the top youtubers out there. Markilieplier, pewdiepie, logan paul, etc.his character made the film enjoyable. Reminded me of ash from evil dead
Yep, I'm still working on them! I should have the next video up in a couple of weeks, and I have several more videos in the works. I've been delayed because I have been fortunate enough to work with Ryan Reynolds' company Maximum Effort for most of the year and they've been keeping me VERY busy. Just this last week, I got to direct/film this video with Ryan and Esteban Ocon for the Alpine F1 Racing Team, where Esteban gave Ryan a Deadpool themed helmet: ruclips.net/video/Zy8Bel3b3P8/видео.html But YES, I'm still cranking out these Deadstream BTS videos and I'll be posting another one soon. I appreciate your patience! 🙏🏻
@@TheJaredCook please release those horror stories from the manor Me and my husband are really big fans of the movie, would love to know everything we can first hand, I know you're busy with other stuff, but if possible, pleeeeease release those videos ❤
My favorite movie of 2022. I've watched it way too many times yet I can't get enough.
1:12 Jadis from the Walking Dead
What is movie name
I would love to see VFX breakdowns and *SPOILERS* how the shot of the exploding head in the tub was pulled off. So excited for this
You got it!
What a positive looking crew, really shows in final film. Just pure fun

I did a blind buy on the steelbook and loved it. We watched it twice in one night. This goes to show not all films need a big budget to create gold.
