I literally leave the screen on with static windows taskbar, wallpaper and shortcuts along with all my 3d programs for hours at a time on purpose to see if i can fuck with the screen. People need to understand this monitor is targeting competitive tactical FPS players like CS2 and Valorant. There are over 1 million players playing CS2 everyday and among them a lot are willing to lower their resolution just to get higher FPS and those are their potential target customers. If you are looking for monitor with better graphics that means you are out of the loop.

    Thanks for the review.
BTW you can get 12 bpc on the Asus, setting it from the Nvidia panel (and the monitor recognizes it too on its on control panel afterwards).
Color vibrance is also on the Asus, just split colour by colour (going to Color Temp, user mode etc.).
ULMB2 is not visually darker than Dyac if you play with contrast, HDR (and ULMB pulse width and offset of course).
Response time: OLEDs do compensate that a lot with the processing time which is just not there on TNs and summed up to response time end up being quiet close to TN panels.
1080p is even too much for competitive, vast majority of CS pros still play on 4:3 and with a lower resolution also.
For competitive games, these monitors will most likely still be on top of the rest I believe. Zowie makes it easier to set up everything within a few minutes, Asus allows for a much deeper resolution when it comes to settings but allows for the same stuff in the end (at times, calling it different).

Ideally it would still have true black HDR certification and HDR10+/Dolby Vision and real HDMI 2.1 FRL ports for console esports gamers, and so it needs OLED at 16:10 WUXGA and 600Hz native refresh rate, and multiple tandem layer OLEDs to minimize burn in for longer longevity :)

When 360hz 1440p came out. I gave up, never going back to 1080p. I also realized a loss of 10 fps, but the ability to see people is worth more. Also, the fact you can turn graphics on low get the fps back, and it still looks way better. I don't see the point 1080p. Zowie needs a 1440p dyac monitor. They are doing the mouse thing again. Everyone is switching? Well, we will be 3 years late. 😂 it's time for pro events to switch a mid rang card and can run most competitive fps games at 1440p high fps. 4:25 You're wrong on this. The perceived motion blur (which is also the motion blur visible in the images you show) is caused by objects on the screen not moving smoothly but rather teleporting each frame. With our eyes we track that object as if it was moving smoothly and not teleporting. That results in motion blur and the larger the gaps inbetween the teleports, the greater the motion blur becomes. If you get 250 fps the motion blur will be the same no matter if you set your monitor to 500hz or 250hz. The monitor doesn't magically interpolate frames, it just shows the same frame twice so the gap of objects moving between each frame stays the same.

I’ll give it to you. Listening back, I can see how people would take that away. But no, Im not under the impression that a monitor interpolates frames. I get how sample and hold works.
Its obvious that when your game CAN output at the same rate as the monitor, motion blur will decrease as frame rates and monitor speeds increase.
When your game CAN’T l, but can get close, its still gonna look better in practice. Like MWIII only hits 300-400fps for me on this monitor but it still looks (and feels) a lot better than running it locked at 240 fps at 240hz.
I would not recommend anyone look at panel like this if they’re only getting 240 out of their game. Thats a bridge too far.

I will say this, I was hyped for the zowie monitor but on Amazon the asus was $840 and I decided to go with that one instead, having the ability to use the g sync module or keep it at 540 with ulmb2 was the dealbreaker for me, I also think having the reflex sensor is great if your looking at using latency mod to test your computer and monitor for the lowest possible latency. I have always had 1080p but going from 240-540 was a massive difference, I don’t think 1440p 540 will be justifiable considering that will be a $2,000 monitor :(

These monitors are meant really for the pro scene that going to lans and whatnot. Everything zowie does is for that mind. Even the box has the best unboxing experience of any monitor company by a longshot that can be easily reused to pack you monitor up for carrying if your going to travel. Also you're right on the 24in form factor, it's superior to anything else for anything remotely competitive. I have a PG27AQN and I still find myself going to my XL2546K even with the fact that the asus has a 25in mode. The features on the zowie are better and dyac gets brighter than ulmb2. I'm sure ulmb2 is good but if it's too dark to use then it doesn't matter.

    • @saint_snow
      @saint_snow 13 дней назад

@@supernice_auto The Zowie, no contest. Unless you want higher resolution, the Zowie is better for competition and simple ease of use. The only thing on that Asus monitor that's worth anything is ULMB 2 (you will almost never use GSYNC) but dyac 2 is really good and you will notice no differences. I barely notice any difference between dyac+ and ULMB 2 as it is. At least that Asus model works better than somthing like the PG27AQN and gets bright enough to even use the feature.
However when it comes to form, function, ease of use Zowie destroys everything else I have ever used. Simply unbox it, simple stand to put on, doesn't take up any space on the desk and has the puck to save and easily change settings instead of having to reach behind the monitor all the time. Makes it easy to change the monitor settings to something for gaming like having the black equalizer on, dyac 2, etc. and then turn it off back to a stardard setting for regular desktop use. All the settings are better as well, especially the black equalizer which I actively used and found that no other monitor has been able to match it and even has a sharpness setting. I know, for some reason these other monitors don't even have something as simple as that. But I use it and it helps make the TN panel look fairly clear even in games with tons of foliage and such like Tarkov or Battlefield.
Essentially if you are looking at a monitor and it's a TN panel and more competative, then look no further than Zowie, full stop. Other brands are only worth looking at if you want higher resolution IPS or OLED options.

I use OLED and at nothing less than 240 Hz (and as high as possible to 240 fps as I can) but I was obsessed with telling people about strobing monitors when I was using them from around 2013 to 2023 and the CRAZY part is that, in strobing mode, you don't even need 540 Hz or even 240 Hz to get CRT levels of motion clarity. Even at just 120 Hz / 120 fps, the motion clarity of strobing mode (or BFI for OLED) is INSANE! After 120-ish fps / Hz, there are huge diminishing returns for strobing clarity as 120 already gets you to like 90% near-CRT-perfection.
Strobing mode monitors need to start being available for large 1440p and 4K 16:9, 21:9, and 32:9 monitors. Even if there's more pixels to push than 1080p, strobing at just 240 Hz / fps, and even just 120, is already like 95-99 % as clear as strobing at 540 Hz / fps but with the benefit of a way bigger, potentially wider (21:9, 32:9), higher resolution, display. What's with the obsession with 24" and 25" 1080p monitors? It's not 2013 anymore.

The upcoming 480Hz OLED monitors will be 1440p at 27 inches so this monitor is still an very viable option for competitive gamers because OLED's still don't address the 1080p market and i dont think they ever will or at least not in the near future because they want to sell those higher resolution OLED's to make higher margins.

Personally I own the Asus ROG PG248QP TN 540hz Monitor and i love it. I purposely avoid OLED's because of how dim & barely bright they get and if they do its in a 10% window. Not being able to confidently web browse without the thought of burn-in risk , leaving a static image coming back only to have it burn-in . I watch youtube videos , read alot comments , school work etc & imo OLED is not an well rounded monitor. Even though burn-in is covered , but what happens when the warranty is gone after 3 years. If you randomly get burn-in your product is literally e-waste ... no one will willing buy a burn-in oled so it will be hard to sell.. again... Thats thousounds down the drain , you'll have to just deal with it. It will be something every time you use the monitor you have to be worried about.

All those years of developing ULMB and DYAC and is now obsolete to OLED. Zowie's monitor market share will drop if they keep producing TN panel monitors and not switching over to oled and thinking of another black magic that will make it even faster (which is literally impossible because of oled's near 0 instantaneous responce times) OR try catering to gamers by adding those classic Zowie flaps and introducing quality of life improvements on them new oled monitors. Welcome to the future, after the release of the 480hz 1440p oled monitor Q4 2024, the only winner in the monitor space will be the company that can have the highest nits of brightness, but as far as I know it's a standstill so competetition will be crazy. Welcome to the golden era of monitors where the only way monitor manufactering companies will keep market share by dropping prices. Which is already evident in the 360hz oled 1440p monitors that you can buy for as little as $900 (with the release of the 480hz the drop in pricing will make 240hz oled monitors even more affordable at prices ranging from $450-$550.
