    I wouldn't be surprised if they leave the thick bezels in on purpose. This monitor's target demographic are the competitive e-sports type and these displays may need to move around a lot to different events and LAN parties. Having thicker bezels makes it more durable during travel and easier to adjust when you set the monitor down.

    @optimum I think Zowie uses those thick bezels to passively cool their high hertz strobe backlight and prevent the heat from getting trapped inside the case causing the plastic to melt/warp.
    Since this monitor is strobing at 1100hz it probably gets a lot hotter and needs more ventilation. Also thicker plastic just makes it more resistant to breaking in general, and acts as a shock absorber which is pretty important considering that these monitors get transported pretty frequently at Esports events.

Gorgeous design and thoughtful UI. Would be thrilled to see other manufacturers take some major inspiration from Zowie here. Yeah, sure, maybe not for the thick bezels, but maybe that has to do with their backlight tech needing some more space. Anyway, this looks like a fantastic piece of professional kit, and it's very impressive to see how far display tech has come over the last decade, even with less exotic display types like TN.

      As someone who recently got a 27" 1440p monitor to replace my 2546k, I can honestly say that TN, 1080p will never be replaced. It is truly the best for competitive games. The smaller screen just is easier to take in and tn works perfectly in all lighting situations. This was something is didn't take into effect and my room's lighting just didn't work well for the IPS panel and oleds are even worse.

    4:57 really appreciate all your videos explaining this. Maybe one day people will catch up that if you play your games at a normal fps like 60, it's always gonna look very blurry no matter how fast your display is, unless it has a black frame insertion mode like this, that runs natively at 60hz or how many fps your game is running. And this is why any gaming monitors released without this feature.. actually are not worthy of being called a gaming monitor.

    I think the difference between dyac+ and dyac 2 is the dual backlight to increase motion clarity even more but also to help with eye adaptation, i've heard dyac+ causes a lot of extra eye strain and these newer zowie monitors are just an update for that. if anyone has used a dyac+ and dyac 2 monitor let me know if youve noticed a difference! currently looking at the 360hz but also considering the dyac 2 240hz

    • @Frozoken
      @Frozoken 9 месяцев назад

      The 480hz oled will definitely be superior competively because of the lower processing latency/input lag . The new 360hz oleds had 0.1ms input lag while the 540hz from asus had a full 1ms of input lag which is half your frame time at that refresh rate lmao. Not to mention the higher refresh rate advantage in Val and CS will be less in reality because I know 1% low fps in Val at least are only like 400fps tops with the best CPU anyway.
      If you wanna buy now tho not only is the zowie more expensive by $100 vs the asus but it is the same or worse in every way performance wise. Do NOT get the zowie 💀

    Those ports sticking to the back is a deal breaker to me, its asking for breaking it, by accidentally yanking cables.
    Thicker bezels are likely due to more backlight sources in this model for Dyac 2.
