I mean I kinda agree with what you are saying but I just can not play fps on 27 inch and pretty much every oled monitor is 27 inch or larger. I've switched back to my xl2546k after trying a 270hz IPS 27 inch.
I tried the 2566k and this thing is the worst thing i ever looked at. The thing was in front of a wall and i almost could see through it. Bought the PG27AQN and it is amazing.
Either you sit 10cm in front of your monitors or it takes you a longer time to get used to it but at normal viewing distances 27insh is just superior to 25
That's where I'm at. And pushing the monitor back to get the same physical fov DOES NOT feel the same. I think an even a smaller screen than 24 inch feels better. Especially in close quarters. My best Soldier 76 game I did 720p black bars on my 27 inch and I finished with around 75 percent accuracy. Lower dpi and resolution have a unique interaction with each other that feels amazing.
Some of the reasons I use a Zowie monitor, is they have the best on the marked implemented Black EQ, AMA, sharpness setting in my opinion/experience, and i care mostly about performance, since i play mostly competitive fps & BR.
Thanks for the review! At 8:53, you should elaborate more about that feature, as it can make enemy outline clearer in Overwatch by setting the R (Red) slider a bit higher, and this really can differentiate between winning and losing in high level tournament. Also, you can bring your own setting to the tournament you're attending by bringing your own S-Switch (that puck that you get by buying Zowie monitor), so that you can just plug that in, set that up, and you're ready to go. My next monitor would probably another Zowie. My current Zowie still lives on for 8 years, and probably more years to come. I love their DyAc 2, but I'm not ready for plunging $1000 for a monitor, so instead I'll try to get their XL2546X, which is essentially the 240Hz version of that monitor, complete with DyAc 2. I know OLED is nice, but their subpixel arrangement (text legibility is an issue for some last gen OLED), burn-in issue (playing one game for 1000+ hrs, with rather static UI placement, is a good recipe for burn-in), and pricing still holds me back from buying it. The first two problem is pretty much already mitigated now by current gen OLED, but the 3rd one is not, at least yet. Again, thank you for your review, techless!
I think the reason is mainly because there is no 24 inch oled. For fps games 24 inch is better than 27. I want a oled but i dont want a 27 inch monitor
@@karolkonieczka well a lot of Pro players are prety close to their monitors and on 27 inch they could not see everything going on as the screen is just to big
esportlers don't care about 32'', ultrawide immersion. They care about visibility. Smaller 24'' better fits on the desk. Even on an oversized desk 26.5'' is the upper limit for me. Also PPI on this larger screen generally is worse. So if you actually would care about good image quality you would want high PPI smaller Monitors, like the ones used by professionals. I won't upgrade until there is a proper 4k 26.5'' OLED option with at least 240hz and UHBR20 support. So not gonna happen in the next 3 years ...
The size is the primary reason I'm still using my 24'' TN monitor. All OLED gaming monitors today are at least 27'' and I'm can't stand that size. Until monitor companies start making 24'' OLED monitors, those Zowie TN monitors won't' go anywhere.
@@knz2894 Those modes are blurry. Look up Optimum's review of the 32GS95UE. If you're talking about the 25 inch mode of the PG27AQN IPS 360Hz monitor which isn't blurry, that mode is extremely unreliable. It only works in some games. It doesn't work in games like Fortnite, Apex, and Valorant.
Got LG’s new oled monitor today and it does just that. Oled 240hz 4k or switch to 1080p 480hz at all sizes stretched 34, 27 and 24. It’s amazing except for one problem.
Problem is I come from a Samsung g5 curved 27 and now any flat monitor looks strange to me. It’s apparently a trick of the mind from using a curved monitor for so long. Makes my flat monitor look wrapped like if it had a bubble in the middle making the corners look small and far while the middle enlarged.
@@HenrySavinon Look up optimum's review of that monitor. Those 24 and 27 inch modes look blurry. About going back to a flat monitor, your eyes are currently tricking you. Your brain will adjust after a few days.
The biggest issue I see with these backlight strobing technologies is eye strain they bring with them. We finally got rid of them in past with flicker free technologies and now they are brought back as backlight strobing technologies. Lot of people keep praising companies for technologies like that compared when in past we were against alternating current for backlight. What weird times we live in.
Don't know if you've ever used one, but for most people I don't think it's an issue at all. I used the 390hz strobing IPS monitor for over a year with strobing turned on 100% of the time, even when I worked from home. Never caused me any eye strain or headache or anything at all
I'd say don't knock it till you try it, trust me the back light strobing on zowie monitors is leagues ahead of what it used to be. I remember the eye strain i used to get on my old tvs. Recently purchased a zowie monitor with back light strobing tech and I don't get that same eye strain.
To me, the biggest issue is that strobing is not a plug and play solution. It's easy to mess up one or more of the settings required for a clean strobing experience, causing unnecessary motion artefacts, bad frame pacing and eyestrain. Most people just give up when this happens and remember what they were warned for. Eyestrain can also be caused by the lack of motion smoothness, which is not consistent with the much smaller amount of motion blur. You need some time and rest to get used to this, if sensitive to it. On top of that, TAA blur is a lot more visible with strobing. With nearly every modern game forcing it, it is likely to cause eyestrain for strobing newbies Strobing can defenitely be good, even at 100 hz or lower. I can use my xg2431 like that all day, without eyestrain at the end. My monitor isn't a factor of annoyance anymore, I can just forget about it and do whatever I like without being constrained. I only need a refresh rate above the flicker fusion threshold (around 85 hz for me, lower with less brightness), a 100% consistent framerate, v-sync, an fps-cap at exactly the refresh rate (to get rid of input lag), a high vertical total (aka quick frame transport, to make the refresh time as short as possible and give the bottom pixels more time to respond before turning on the backlight), the right strobe phase and enough overdrive to remove crosstalk at the center of the screen, allowing overshoot at the top and undershoot at the bottom.
I'll take the best 540Hz with DYAC2 for game like CS where one tap HS matters. For everything else I just need a second 4K 60Hz monitor. Nothing in between.
Even just navigating windows is nicer with a higher refresh rate. I will say anything above 144 Hz has massive diminishing returns though.@@aimingisnice7732
The issue is that the graphics cards that can push 540hz - 1080p are not optimized for that resolution and you get bottlenecks on the card/cpu running at that resolution.... They are made for higher quality throughput/output ... So you are really doing a disservice to the graphics card/cpu when you push that resolution on a 4090 for instance.
TN is such a huge turnoff for me , thats why i bought one of the first 144Hz VA panels back when it got released. I will wait until the OLED's get cheaper and probably gonna upgrade to that in sometime.
I tried some monitors side by side with my old reliable G2460PF and TN is more than decent, don't understand why everyone gets so mad about it. IPS on the other hand looks like trash more often than not.
Any suggestion on which 1440p 180hz / 240hz monitor to take for like 300€ budget? Currently using some Asus 240hz 1080p 27inch IPS monitor. Primary use FPS titles like Rainbow Six: Siege.
Yeah, there’s equipment that measures better compared to most things pros have in their setups, especially when we’re considering the pros’ personal setups. Tournament setups tend to be better. Besides, other peripherals they use aren’t the actual best in pretty much 90%+ of the cases. So, pros could actually optimize their setups in lots of regards besides monitors.
I don't agree, some people have the money to have a gaming monitor as well as a OLED 4K monitor for content.Hardcore "gamers' don't care about your colour gamate or modern asthetics, the only thing we care about is PERFORMANCE,speaking from a strictly competitive FPS background. But for casuals getting a good OLED 240Hz will do for everything.
Zowie TN 540hz cost 1300 euros and LG 480hz dual 1400 euros... Normal i will go for oled :D 540hz TN zowie can not keep with refresh rate vs 360hz.. it was tested
It adds to your gravitas, and seems interesting as unknown rhetoric to a noob, but it's incredibly misleading to call a 540hz dyac+ 2 display "old tech" XD this crap is the cutting edge and came out before the 480hz oled. (most pros use the 2546k still today and most tournament setups do as well)
I mean also in fps games playing 1440p isn’t ideal , the performance hit with 1.7x more pixels , larger screen causing more eye movement , and other disadvantages with an OLED on top of oled burn in (which is small chance of happening). It might seem like I’m a zowie fanboy praising their TN panel lineup but it all really depends what you need a monitor for. If you play a lot of fps games like cs/val/r6/ow2 etc then it’s really hard to choose an OLED but don’t get me wrong the colors on an OLED are truly amazing and it’s a nice consideration for games outside of fps. if you like fps games I’d recommend the xl2566k as it’s 400 less than the 540hz model and their isn’t really a game you can play with 1% lows over 540hz besides maybe valorant.
I own the AW2721D and its kind of a joke.. the image quality is on par or even worse than than my 24in Acer xv240y. which is about a 4th the cost. only thing you get with alien ware is cool design and some rbg. not worth it my guy.
@@andrejnaumovski8622 Actually OLEDs benefit BFI as much as, if not even more than LCD since they also use sample and hold method of refreshing the image. And for that reason, even at 480 native refresh, OLED motion is not on the level of CRT. With BFI it probably would be. Also scaling down the display area on an OLED is not a good idea because the way oled ABL works is that it adjusts the overall brightness according to display area, so if you make the active area smaller, it will drive that area with more brightness, which will degrade it faster compared to the letterbox around it.
Short answer is no - If your monitor is 144hz lets say, then the Monitor is able to refresh it's "image" 144 per second. Your FPS is the amount of Frames per Second that the Computer is actually producing, but that doesn't mean that your screen is capable of doing the same. It's two different things on different components but kind of similar.
You'll get other benefits of a higher end screen compared to a random 1080p 60 hz panel. Not really, but stuff like OLEDs have absolutely wonderful response times anyway that they feel smoother than a lot of the ones at the same rate. Or mainly turn off motion blur lol
You can tell this guy monitors when his video background has almost no grain and no banding. I can see some banding right before the blue turns grey. Maybe if he adds a bit of monochrome grain to the video it can reduce the banding.
It's zowie, they'll switch to oled monitors years after every pro started using them. Just look at their mice, they're always years behind everyone else and they only catch up with technological advancements once noone buys their stuff anymore. Their first wireless mice were on par with the g pro wireless in terms of specs and weight but zowie released them 5 years later. And zowies latest mouse the u2 is on par with the gpx 1 but they released it 2 years later. And currently you can get 50 gramm mice with high polling rate and good built quality from china for 50€ but to get the same from zowie we'll have to wait a few more years and pay 3x the price. It'll be the same with monitors.
for me i like the zowie's bigger bezels more just because of the fact that they look better being all the same width, while others have no bezel except for just the bottom one and having a large writing of the monitor maker.
Could you review the HyperX Armada 25, 240Hz? I was thinking of buying the BenQ EX240, but the HyperX monitor is cheaper than the BenQ where I live (I live in Brazil), but I couldn't find many reviews of it.
As someone that has owned all the 240hz zowie monitors, zowie is overrated. They’re just outdated. If you want a 540 hz tn get an asus or wait for new oled tech.
the reason for zowie being this "hyped" for esport players is because they are using those monitors at lan events for example in CS they use the 360hz zowie monitor at lan tournaments for that reason they use those monitors at home so they dont have to get use to a new monitor when they play at home or at the stage.

honestly, as a sweaty tryhard gamer, i enjoy zero compromise high refresh rate monitors that are smooth. literally through the video you can see the zowie clarity. im rocking the backlight strobing viewsonic 240hz and its just fantastic for counterstrike. a high rez high refresh rate simply cannot offer the clarity and smoothness.
You forgot to mention one thing, pros care about motion clarity and BRIGHTNESS, TN still have the edge on this two aspects at the same time (at least zowie has) you can use dayac2 and still maintain high brightness. I think zowie will only switch to OLED when they make it bright enough to sustain 350 nits with Black light strobbing on (or watever they call it when is not the back light that is strobing). So basically Zowie are still using TN because they undestand pros and tryhard player like no other company.
The difference is that zowie's only use for a monitor is for gaming and not suitable for everyday use. Instead of picking what other's use, find out what you need and want out of a monitor/peripheral.
@@commandertoothpick8284 1. I already stated that zowie wasn’t suitable for anything other than gaming, which is the only statement needed as we know monitors aren’t just for gaming, even my grandma knows that. 2. No it doesn’t. The motion clarity on the most recent zowie monitor with its BFI tech will never we matched by an oled, due to how LCD’s naturally will ghost when lighting an item on screen. Also latency really doesn’t matter, since you’ll will always have a delay of communication somewhere in the electronics.

I understand the decision not to utilize oled for a display targeted toward ESports pros and enthusiasts. Burn in isn't too much of an issue for the average consumer cycling through different games with varying huds, but when you're 10k hours into the same game with the same hud, I'd imagine burn in would occur.
The monitor I use right now (and bought with my first cheap PC) is a 60hz 27' TN pannel. I don't see many displays but when I got a laptop with a 280hz 17' IPS panel I learned that I prefer the older 60hz over the never 280hz. ofc I notice that my older monitor is slower but I feel like size is more important. Maybe the technology was playing a part in it all allong as well...
My reason to use Zowie is because its both good for esports + 8hr a day productivity work hooked up to a work laptop. Something I still don't want to do on a oled monitor due to burn in risk. Two monitors is only possible if you have the space on your desk. And then there are also no 24 inch oleds. I wish Zowie made a good miniled monitor, that would solve it all.
Mini-led monitors don't have fast response times to the same level as TN panels And back light strobing usually doesn't work with VRR I doubt it'll work with local dimming as well.
Hey techless I am looking to buy a 1440p 120+hz monitor for a xbox series x any recommendations under €250 your my favourite tech reviewer I trust your recommendations
No one else has a 24 inch monitor that can compete. If we had 24 inch oled at 1080p or 1440p the tune would change. Native resolution just feels better. The only non-native resolutions that feel great are black bars or stretched at 720/760. Also dyac is amazing and Zowie has way better support than Asus. It's more than just status quo. Edit: the best aim feeling I've ever had is on 400 dpi on 720/760p monitors. Even at lower refresh. Something about having less pixels to aim at and the interaction of the pointer at 400 dpi just feels amazing even though it looks like garbage. 1440p at 800 dpi is comparable, but 27 inch screen does something to my brain that does not feel as precise.
Whilst there are good reasons to use some stats to choose the best monitor suited to particular needs, I think that in this respect, all the stats in the world are rather meaningless. A great player is a great player and could use any monitor. Humans also have great ability to acclimate very quickly and people also have varying degrees of eyesight quality. So for me, the whole Zowie thing is almost certainly a brand/style over substance thing, where the mark-up on these TN monitors is going to be enormous but like the Apple effect, if it seems cool, then it is, resulting in more easy displacement of money from suckers purchasing them. A grand for that monitor should have people laughing their socks off but ....
kind of wrong direction. it's more: organizers use zowie monitors - gamers want to practice on the same hardware as in tournaments - gamers get zowie monitors
From personal experience: I had 75hz 1ms benq monitor was pretty fast for 75hz. Then i bought msi g2412 170hz thinking it would be better than 75hz but for me it is not, Msi is smoother but when you turn your mouse is very slow its now always the hz, benq is benq and it has price for a reason.

If it was a more in depth vid then yeah i could agree but hes saying why not to get a tn panel vs oled. Also hes comparing the monitors and features in the vid, no reason to bring up dyac+ when no product in the video mentions it
strobing just does not matter as much at 360+Hz, as shown in the video if your PC can't do more than 240fps, then yes, strobing will make a big difference but then you wouldn't spend so much money on a monitor if your PC is so weak
Yeah it's a bit pricy... I'd suggest checking out Julian Krause's review of the Topping E2x2. It has one of the lowest noise outputs available right now. Or you could always get something like the ifi iematch.
It's very simply if you play triple A games, casual games etc go for 2k/4k OLED display it's better. If you play competitive games such as Valorant/CS2/OW2 etc don't get OLED, if you spam specific game a lot you will get the HUD burnt in in OLED in 2-3years. As someone that's used both. The zowie is so much better. There is literally zero blur. I urge you to test by loading up aimbots and jiggle your mouse left and right really fast on a single bot. On literally any other mo itor aside from zowie you will start to see double. There is nothing g close to zowie
Honestly...I think an OLED 1440p with 240hz refresh rate is as good as you'll ever need for both casual gaming and movie watching/content creation. The 240hz was the esports standard just a few years back for all the big tournaments...and 1440p is a great balance between the 1080p and 4K in terms of frame rates, gameplay smoothness, and movie cinematic clarity. Unless you are getting above 240fps average in your game at 1440p Extreme Graphic Settings...why get 4K? The game is not even capable of running your monitors refresh rate at 1440p...and you think 4K will help?!? And for watching most online RUclips/Streaming content...isn't 1440p a smoother experience anyways? I pay for pretty fast internet speed...and I can't run 4K without it occasionally lagging. I guess...if you have a Fiber Optic NASA T1 Internet speed...a 4090 GPU or whatever is newest...might as well go 4K Reference screen...AND a 1080p to copy the Esports setup exactly. If you're going big..might as well go big. But for most people (who value both competitiveness and content viewing experience) the best option is the OLED...240Hz refresh Rate...1440p screen.
hi, I have an old laptop (2017 model) that don't support Windows 10 now. So I just found out about Mini PC. Is it a thing nowadays or its not worth it? Thinking of getting one to just "I have a PC" (RUclips,Googling, etc.) because I have XSX for gaming.
wdym you can't install windows 10 on a 2017 laptop? windows 10 came out in 2015, you're probably doing something wrong. mini PC's are way too expensive for what they are, waste of money unless you absolutely need to save space.

This new 540Hz doesnt make that much sense, like in cs2 at least you will never do 540 fps, most of the pros lock the frames at 400 to 500 for more consistency frametimes. So idk, the XL2566K is still the bette choise for me.

@@lirimeyer yea, even the slower one is so fast that your not gonna be able to notice any difference without slowmo.
I want a oled but i dont want a 27 inch monitor
why 24' is better then 27' for esport?
So not gonna happen in the next 3 years

Hey nice to see you getting sponsors (I don't think you've had any so far ?), hope it helps you grow !
The size is the primary reason I'm still using my 24'' TN monitor. All OLED gaming monitors today are at least 27'' and I'm can't stand that size. Until monitor companies start making 24'' OLED monitors, those Zowie TN monitors won't' go anywhere.
it's actually 24.5 inches against 26.5 inches. Also some of the 26.5 inch oleds offer screen adjustment to 24.5 inches.
Zowie blacklight strobing is much faster (frequency), quicker (faster transition) and less straining. It's really not even comparable.
With nearly every modern game forcing it, it is likely to cause eyestrain for strobing newbies
Strobing can defenitely be good, even at 100 hz or lower.
Yeah I noticed far more eye fatigue after about an hour and ultimately started playing worse.
I'll take the best 540Hz with DYAC2 for game like CS where one tap HS matters. For everything else I just need a second 4K 60Hz monitor. Nothing in between.
i agree
I don’t understand anyone playing on 60hz with a pc defeats the point entirely imo

9:18 is the only reason that actually matters for what pros use really, everything else doesn't matter nearly as much.
Any suggestion on which 1440p 180hz / 240hz monitor to take for like 300€ budget? Currently using some Asus 240hz 1080p 27inch IPS monitor. Primary use FPS titles like Rainbow Six: Siege.
i dont recoment 27 inches for 1080p, usally 1440p is 27 inches pixels per inch is worser ona 27 vs 24
Your monitor videos are my favorite. Underrated channel.
I don't agree, some people have the money to have a gaming monitor as well as a OLED 4K monitor for content.Hardcore "gamers' don't care about your colour gamate or modern asthetics, the only thing we care about is PERFORMANCE,speaking from a strictly competitive FPS background. But for casuals getting a good OLED 240Hz will do for everything.

imagine if zowie makes an oled 24 incher..
Can you update the 1080p/1440p/4k best monitors video?
Where can get the wallpaper shown in the video?
Yo techless, which one is better in your opinion? The AW2725DF or the AORUS FO27Q3?
I own the AW2721D and its kind of a joke.. the image quality is on par or even worse than than my 24in Acer xv240y. which is about a 4th the cost. only thing you get with alien ware is cool design and some rbg. not worth it my guy.
I thought dyac reduces input lag?
Now imagine if they made a 24 inch 480hz oled with BFI for that money.
Just scale it down to 24" size, there's an option in the menu. At 480Hz on OLED panels BFI just doesn't make sense.
@@andrejnaumovski8622it looks really blurry for 1080p tho
MSI 244f or ex240? What would you recommend for gaming?
Pros get them free to promote the brand.
Is there any benefit to high refresh rate monitors when playing games that are locked to 60fps? I'm looking to minimize blur when panning the camera
Don't tn panels cause less eye strain?

Instead of picking what other's use, find out what you need and want out of a monitor/peripheral.
the main point is that even for gaming the oled is still the same if not better so there really isn't a point in buying zowie.
Wrong. Gaming on OLED is much better. And majority of people dont just use monitors to 'game'.
Also latency really doesn’t matter, since you’ll will always have a delay of communication somewhere in the electronics.

the main reason for them to keep on them is "sponsorship"
Burn in - pros playing for hours each day same game, so maybe OLEDs will come to E-sports, but they will need to be replaced quite often.
Also always the same game and UI.
Mini-led monitors don't have fast response times to the same level as TN panels

No, pro players don't choose to use it. They're sponsored to use it.
It's very simply if you play triple A games, casual games etc go for 2k/4k OLED display it's better.
If you play competitive games such as Valorant/CS2/OW2 etc don't get OLED, if you spam specific game a lot you will get the HUD burnt in in OLED in 2-3years. (and if ur warranty expires before that u r fuked).
I was considering going Zowie 360hz dyac2 because I play CS, but I do play other games, and watch stuff on it too, where I prefer the image to look better.
So I turned my sight onto the Alienware AW2725DF. You critiqued this monitor quite a bit with terms I don't really understand as of now, so it got me doubting again :D
Now I want to ask you what do you think is the best "oled" monitor with 200+ hz on the market, with no more than 27"?
Pros don't enjoy games, they work games
Backlight strobing give me eye strain, basically unusable for me. Oled all the way

But for most people (who value both competitiveness and content viewing experience) the best option is the OLED...240Hz refresh Rate...1440p screen.
and if I had to sacrifice 1 stat in order to fit the budget...it would be the 240hz refresh rate into something closer to 144hz refresh rate.
