Edit: I have recently learned the highest measured impact survived belongs to Karl Wendlinger, who's crash at Monaco in 1994 measured 360G in his helmet.
If only these cars in these accidents had the HALO. Cue all of the unthinking idiots in the comment section, "Thank God for the HALO, it undoubtedly saved his life."

With Kenny Brack 214g recorded lets calculate the weight of his body under the impact. Let say Kenny weighted 160lbs. 160 lbs * 214 = 34240 lbs at the impact. How someone can survive this, it amazes me.
Pretty sure the reason Mark Dismore survived is purely because he was lucky enough to have the impacts on different sides of the car. The right rear hit the wall first, but then the left front (who's crash structure was still mostly intact) hit the pit wall.
Yep - the right rear took a big hit and slowed him down more than Kevin Cogan in 1989, but he hit the blunt end of the pit wall more square on than Cogan did, hence the injuries. The 1991 cars had a short nose, which exposed his legs to serious damage. Nasty crash - Dennis Firestone’s crash against the pit wall in ‘86 was similar.
Car splitting is actually a good thing, it means that the energy of the impact has been absorbed by the car and not the survival cell, where the pilot is.
They are designed to do that to absorb energy upon impact. This also reduces the mass by quite a lot, making the impact itself much lighter, because less mass = less energy. That's somewhat the same reason you don't want motorcycle riders to be strapped to the motorcycle, it would just crush them and result in far heavier crashes than when the rider is detached
Far too often I see that a driver tries to overtake (pass) the car in front, so the leading car deliberately starts weaving to block the overtaking car - and then of course at those speeds and in such close proximity there's a contact and a catastrophic crash that's life threatening. Surely sometimes this amounts to attempted murder or at least potential to be classed as such. But then I suppose racing drivers do such things voluntarily at their own risk. I can't help thinking it's dumb minded and pointless just for expensive kicks. I'm not impressed one iota.
Here’s a burning question I’ve got. What happens to all the broken junk parts from race cars like these and other?? I’d love a set of mangled f1 headers 😅
They have all that space around them to race with, but they still make contact with each other. Unreal. The driver that was slightly behind the other, must have seen they were getting close to touching, and should have eased off the throttle slightly, and the crash probably wouldn't have happened.
