This is a tale as old as time 😂 I remember back in the day playing Guild Wars and there being a strong rivalry between it and World of Warcraft. The most obnoxious Guild Wars stans were always ex-WoW players who were burnt out on the game and carried a grudge against it. Same exact dynamic is happening with WuWa now, and ToF previously, even HSR despite being a Hoyo game. Genshin really is the WoW of gacha games it seems like. A large portion of the player base either have Genshin derangement syndrome or stan it. Every gacha game will die eventually. I think it's healthy to keep this in mind and spend accordingly. If you consider getting a monthly pass as a monthly subscription fee and never buy anything else (or go full F2P) you'll be happier for it and likely won't have the same sunk cost fallacy mindset.
ZZZ will thrive just because it's a hoyo game. And the fan-servicy designs. It's not for me as I don't want to invest in another hoyo game but I hope it thrives. Competition will only do us good. Especially when the big ones started releasing like Promelia, Mugen, and Endfield.
ZZZ is impossible to die on arrival as the Hoyoverse fanbase is too huge, they will hop into every new game Hoyo releases. But I doubt how ZZZ can maintain their players with the systems in the game such as good old Hoyo character raising system, no jumping on an action-combat game, the TV mechanic, and characters not as appealing as their previous games (personal opinion).
Lets be honest, Genshin was hated on by other gatcha game players when it came out, hsr was hated on by genshin players, wuwa was hated on by hoyo players, and now zzz is being hated on by wuwa players. But in the end all of these games is a massavie success that makes millions and millions of dollars every single day while CCs make click bait videos about what the crazy 1% of the player bases think lol. ZZZ looks realy hype though, cant wait!

Yeah before launch people were complaining about it being turn-based & thought it would be dead on arrival. Considering HYV track record, there's a good chance ZZZ beats expectations.
Dude HSR wasn't as hated as ZZZ upon release, most hi3rd players were extremely hyped for it, the game basically had a loyal fanbase before it even released.

@@Clmrn the criticism was right, the gameplay is very simplistic compared to R:1999 or FGO or a lot of gacha games out there, it wasn't even original, heavily "inspired" by The Legend of Heroes franchise. However it's still successful regardless because most turn base gacha players actually don't care that much about gameplay rather than story and character because most of them are casuals, HSR has exactly that and so it's popular. It's quite the contrary for action game players, no matter if the game has amazing animation and story, if the combat is boring players will leave. Among the pure hate comment there are still a whole lot constructive criticism one pointing this out, even back then in the beta yet Mihoyo is so arrogant they don't care at all.

I don't like wuthering tbh, it has a very negative impression for me especially back in cbt where they prioritized other regions except mine (i waited for nothing) and its also the feeling like its genshin do this and that again everyday but back when it was released i didn't whine or say shit about the game, i just didn't watch pokke or other streamers whenever they'll stream it or post content. The lesson here is just don't give an f rather than wasting your time saying negative stuff that won't even affect anything at all and enjoy playing those games that you like. No reaction, insane.

People can dislike a game for many reasons. There is tribalism in every space, but just because people compare and prefer something from another game of the same genre doesn't mean they are being tribalistic. Other than the animations, ZZZ doesn't do or offer anything new, groundbreaking, or outright improves mechanics compared to other games in the same genre. Also, let's not act like CCs like you, who make countless videos with titles like "This game is dead" or "Dead on arrival" are not fueling the animosity between different communities.

You know Pokke, I have played and been in gacha space for years now. Most of my time was mostly spent on Genshin Impact. I spent so much money and years of my time on that game that thinking back it was fun but of course fun expires as time goes on. I quit genshin later on and play other games such as HSR and now that too after a year feels a chore to do, 2 months in Wuwa is also feels that way now which is really sad. I really am seeing the way of “If the game is not fun anymore why bother?” And it all started by fucking quitting Genshin for good. I can see myself be out of gacha game in the future because my god I didn’t think other game that isn’t gacha and ALSO CHEAP AS FUCK would be so fucking fun. I have spending my time playing Minecraft ever since. Wuwa 1.1? That can fucking wait, Firefly? Bored of it after a week. Yeah i can really see myself be out of gacha in the future if this continues
Good for you, man. Most games are meant to be seasonal. You jump from title to title, going back occasionally. Gacha games are also supposed to be like that, playing at the start of every patch and quitting for a month or so, but the fear of missing out on pulls is what gets you, making you log in daily for those itty bits of gemmies. Personally don't mind it, but when games like WuWa take like 15 minutes of maintenance to get through to the fun stuff, it does get annoying. Genshin dailies aren't so bad and I've clocked like 5 minutes when loading screen gods are generous. Star Rail is even easier with the autoplay, albeit taking a bit longer. Anyway, try out Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Game's dope.

The tribalism is kinda insane, but its not a surprise the CC communities here on youtube at least the more popular ones. Have slowly bred a large following of Hoyo haters they despise how Genshin was handled and dont trust the company. Also WuWa has unfortunately an issue where a lot of fans love to bring up Genshin whenever talking about their game leading to a more toxic fanbase in relation to hoyo games. This leads to most discussions about ZZZ becoming quite toxic, Hoyo haters shit on Hoyo then Hoyo fans shit on them with equal hate so on so forth and most big CCs seem to play into the toxicity. People dont need to like ZZZ its fine neither WuWa or ZZZ are gonna die and we wont know how people really feel until release. The quiet majority is always hard to predict imo, despite people hating Genshin loudly here they're doing great and most players still love the game so we just gotta wait to see what people as whole will think of ZZZ on release.
I already played a bunch different gachas, and tbh with ZZZ the game is just bland for me, couldnt see something that I dont already have in the other games I play. But what you said about the playerbase is true, you cant say nothing about any game without some weird fanatic calling you out

It reeled in more players later on with how good the story was and how they managed to keep on innovating changes in it. I mean to say hsr had a lot going for it from many aspects. Can't say anything about ZZZ yet ngl. The combat and animations look smooth but that's it.

Alot of people get by without the weapons, it just boost by 20% I saw in a video before, if you can't get by without them then that's actually a you problem and don't know how to set up a character

Tribalism isn't exclusive to gacha game or new.. AT ALL. Tekken players has triablism against other fighting game like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, vice versa. I played a ton of gacha games before genshin came out but i never saw the ftp vs whale, hoyo vs wuwa fights between any gachas ive played. Ive never understood why people limit themselves to stick with one game cause as a "gacha player" i rotate thru a bunch of gachas Some i play daily and others i wait for an update, but none become a main game to the extent ill ride and die for 😅

If it looks enticing enough, the story is engaging, colorful characters, beautiful music. Its going to do very well. My guy in christ, F&^%ING BLUE ARCHIVE GOT AN ANIME FIRST BEFORE GENSHIN IMPACT DID! If this doesn't tell you how well the game is thriving, then I don't know what will. If zenless zone zero takes a page from Blue Archive. Zenless Zone Zero will be fine without the annoying toxic autism usual hoyo fanbase (Genshin, Wuthering Waves, Star Rail).
It's not even exclusive to gacha. It happens to every game with clout. New asymmetrical horror game? Dead by Daylight killer! New open world game? Is it better than Skyrim? Me personally i don't know if i will play ZZZ. The character designs looks loli which i really don't like. The animations look like the characters are made from jelly which is also don't like. Gameplay looks random, enemies look like they don't fight back from the videos i watched and combat looks very similar to Honkai part 2 which is a bad combat system. ( already tried that and didn't like it ) Hoyoverse has mastered the art of making very casual no effort games that become successes but after playing Genshin many years i gave up. Their strategy is just to make new characters forever and thats all the content you will get. I thought i could play Genshin like an interactive novel to see the story but i can't even be bothered to do that anymore.
I don't think at will be "dead on release per see", but it's definitly going to be the weaker game of the three big HOYO games, don't have a lot of hope for any good story, so hoping the combat is at least less NA spammy than genshin
I've pretty much outgrown all of this tribalism mentality. I only stick to the gachas that i still enjoy playing yet still being open to whatever gacha game that comes out that piques my interest. *Results may vary
For ZZZ especially I just think the designs are very... bland. There are a few interesting tropes they never dared to touch in their other games but overall the designs feel by far the weakest out of all hoyo games. The combat is okay, but there doesn't seem to be anything outstanding about it and there's more than enough good combat games out there already. Just for combat I would probably prefer Aether Gazer for example, not to mention PGR. And then there's the TV system that people absolutely hated in the CBTs that I doubt they removed xD So in ZZZ's specific case it does just seem very... average I would almost say. It's a good game, but is it worth it to replace another gacha that you already love? Maybe not.
i'm not gonna say it's all hoyoverse fans but a lot of hoyoverse fans were this divisive when star rail came out and all 3 of these games are from the same company. i think a lot of these people that are like this before they have even played the game just have an unhealthy relationship with some of these games because they can't just enjoy a game for what it is itself instead they need every other game to be bad in comparison to the one they love. but if genshin or one of these games " fall off" they either just ran their course or the company didn't do enough to keep players interested. all of these games can exist at the same time
for me I love genshin but am always out of content so I tried playing star rail, didn’t like it, and now I’m trying zzz and hopefully will prefer a game with more button mashing and no afk gameplay but if I don’t like it then I’m reinstalling star rail again cause star rail at least has good story
I think its probably cause right now there is genshin honkai star rail wuthering waves and many other good gachas out so most gacha game players are already playing atleast 2 or 3 so if there already at their limit they may be doomposting so that like you said all their time wont be wasted

I'm going to try ZZZ because it's free and the launch is always the best time to try a gacha game but as I see it, it's just HI3rd with furries and men (which is whatever to me, I don't dislike nor like it) and I don't really understand why they made a game with gameplay that's already the same as something they have unless they really want to add men to HI3rd but because the community backlash is so hard, they decided to make a new game just to do this LOL.
I really wish I had time to play these many games, I'm gonna check out ZZZ cause I've been following the game for over a year by now and I really like the aesthetic, the music, and the character designs, but honestly the only reason I'm logging in WuWa is to get pulls for Changli and her sword, I'll probably stop playing a bit after getting her cause the things I look for in a game just aren't there in this one, the story is lackluster and decent at best, the music has improved but it's still mid and the character designs are mostly boring to me, and the biggest one, the game runs like ass meanwhile I can play Genshin and HSR with their highest settings with no issue and I expect it'll be the same with ZZZ lol

I'm wondering abt the profile of these extreme gacha tribal pple. I thought they were younger pple that haven't played many games. Cos older experienced gamers wld know games don't last forever + games can change over time. If game doesn't deliver, jump ship/ shift gacha funds. So thought these tribal culture pple got attached strongly somehow to the game cos newer to gaming... + cos they attached it to their sense of self. Or they just wanna trash on something or someone that seems L to them cos its the trend, like dogpile on something. i don't think "falling off" fear is such long term thinking of financial or dying game status... think its just primitive Winners vs Losers popularity fight mentality. So attacking via early dissing on image of new game before its even out/ just out is way to try hold their own camp stand in advance/ rally forces. Think MHY game also pulled in many new players, made quality games v accessible on mobile, they havent tried many games before. Anyway, recently, there are Hoyo haters invading Hoyo lamers communities trying to convince CCs to go for WuWa and pretend Hoyo games were never played by these CCs, and punish them if they mention them back for good.
This tribalism is also sustained by the fact that these games are not necessarily objectively good. Yappy dialogues, underdetailed scenarios, a grindy gameplay experience. The wuthering wave quests have been great so far but can i recommend this game to my friend who only plays actual buyable games? Probably not . And in turn every time a new gatcha releases it is a case of "would i actually like to play another mid-good game". 50:50 players say "no" .
i will definitely will play zzz because I personally haven't been enjoying hsr recently (especially due to all the new characters being busted) and added that i personally dont like turn based combat the only reason i stuck around is for the character interactions and story. but like i feel like zzz is breath of fresh air especially for anyone either wanting to have a more casual and flashy combat experience or just wants something with a more mature vibe that is more vibrant than wuwa (no shade, i love wuwa, just meaning how a lot of characters use a lot of whites and blacks along side a main color)

For me, personally, the whole "gacha tribalism"thing boils down to the negativite nature of gacha players and the beef between each community. Picture this: you're a genshin inpact player and you are surfing the internet. You come across this game called "wuthering waves" and you check out a video or two or a twitter post then check the comments on it. All of a sudden you're witnessing all this negativity of people dissing your "favourite" game like genshit, "this is a genshin killer", "genshin could never", etc, it gets on your nerves and you start to pick up fights and spread hatred towards the opposite community.Over time it starts to form a community within each game who are loyal to the game and disregard anything that's remotely similar. This happens alot and when a new gacha game come out, especially now since there are these giants like genshin, honkai, wuwa, the first thing people do is comparing and down playing this new game so that they can prove to themselves that their the best. It's insufferable to be honest
Most gatcha gamers don’t have the benefit of being a streamer whose job is to play them, and get funded by their viewers when they do. So it’s literally a sunk cost that most streamers can’t imagine because very few play F2P, and can at least partially whale in every game they try because of their viewers donations. Most players have to actually invest their own limited money, so they can’t max out an account in a new gatcha every time one comes out.
I do think ppl are tired of hoyo being kinda famous and they see a new game as something like "look at those mfs trying to get my money again" even if the game in a vaccum turns out to be really good. as with everything that gets famous, ppl tend to hate on it just because. Im not trying to whiteknight for mihoyo but tbh, they did a good job at making the whole gacha game industry a better place for the consumer, genshin and star rail are free and they are just as awesome as some paid games.

Back in the days of PC online games. I didn't want to play an online game that is very popular because the player base would be full of kids and/or bystanders playing or hanging out in PC shops. That player base is basically immature 99% of the time. Nowadays kids who don't have mobile phones to play mobile games will rent a PC and play it there.
Best time to play a gacha game is in the very beginning, anniversary, and when the game is failing. Cause they give you enough pulls to not have to worry about gacha, then they will give you enough energy to bypass the bs equipment gacha.

This is a tale as old as time 😂 I remember back in the day playing Guild Wars and there being a strong rivalry between it and World of Warcraft. The most obnoxious Guild Wars stans were always ex-WoW players who were burnt out on the game and carried a grudge against it. Same exact dynamic is happening with WuWa now, and ToF previously, even HSR despite being a Hoyo game. Genshin really is the WoW of gacha games it seems like. A large portion of the player base either have Genshin derangement syndrome or stan it.
Every gacha game will die eventually. I think it's healthy to keep this in mind and spend accordingly. If you consider getting a monthly pass as a monthly subscription fee and never buy anything else (or go full F2P) you'll be happier for it and likely won't have the same sunk cost fallacy mindset.
ZZZ will thrive just because it's a hoyo game. And the fan-servicy designs.
It's not for me as I don't want to invest in another hoyo game but I hope it thrives. Competition will only do us good. Especially when the big ones started releasing like Promelia, Mugen, and Endfield.
ZZZ is impossible to die on arrival as the Hoyoverse fanbase is too huge, they will hop into every new game Hoyo releases. But I doubt how ZZZ can maintain their players with the systems in the game such as good old Hoyo character raising system, no jumping on an action-combat game, the TV mechanic, and characters not as appealing as their previous games (personal opinion).

I don't like wuthering tbh, it has a very negative impression for me especially back in cbt where they prioritized other regions except mine (i waited for nothing) and its also the feeling like its genshin do this and that again everyday but back when it was released i didn't whine or say shit about the game, i just didn't watch pokke or other streamers whenever they'll stream it or post content. There is tribalism in every space, but just because people compare and prefer something from another game of the same genre doesn't mean they are being tribalistic. Other than the animations, ZZZ doesn't do or offer anything new, groundbreaking, or outright improves mechanics compared to other games in the same genre.

To begin with why do you seek challenge in a gacha game ? This is the genre defined by it's ability to gamble for character based on their likeness the genre has just evolved to make the pretty character be a bit more valuable than just a good looking 2D art/3D model not because of their ability to bring challenge into the game heck the newer character more often than not powercreep the one existing and with that any content that you may have had difficulty with will become piss easy with those new toys.

You know Pokke, I have played and been in gacha space for years now. Most of my time was mostly spent on Genshin Impact. I spent so much money and years of my time on that game that thinking back it was fun but of course fun expires as time goes on. I quit genshin later on and play other games such as HSR and now that too after a year feels a chore to do, 2 months in Wuwa is also feels that way now which is really sad. I really am seeing the way of “If the game is not fun anymore why bother?” And it all started by fucking quitting Genshin for good. I can see myself be out of gacha game in the future because my god I didn’t think other game that isn’t gacha and ALSO CHEAP AS FUCK would be so fucking fun. Good for you, man. Most games are meant to be seasonal. You jump from title to title, going back occasionally. Gacha games are also supposed to be like that, playing at the start of every patch and quitting for a month or so, but the fear of missing out on pulls is what gets you, making you log in daily for those itty bits of gemmies. Personally don't mind it, but when games like WuWa take like 15 minutes of maintenance to get through to the fun stuff, it does get annoying. Genshin dailies aren't so bad and I've clocked like 5 minutes when loading screen gods are generous. Star Rail is even easier with the autoplay, albeit taking a bit longer.
Anyway, try out Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Game's dope.

I played a ton of gacha games before genshin came out but i never saw the ftp vs whale, hoyo vs wuwa fights between any gachas ive played.

The character designs looks loli which i really don't like.
The animations look like the characters are made from jelly which is also don't like.
Gameplay looks random, enemies look like they don't fight back from the videos i watched and combat looks very similar to Honkai part 2 which is a bad combat system. ( already tried that and didn't like it )
Hoyoverse has mastered the art of making very casual no effort games that become successes but after playing Genshin many years i gave up. Their strategy is just to make new characters forever and thats all the content you will get.
I thought i could play Genshin like an interactive novel to see the story but i can't even be bothered to do that anymore.

I've pretty much outgrown all of this tribalism mentality. I only stick to the gachas that i still enjoy playing yet still being open to whatever gacha game that comes out that piques my interest.

For ZZZ especially I just think the designs are very... bland. There are a few interesting tropes they never dared to touch in their other games but overall the designs feel by far the weakest out of all hoyo games.
The combat is okay, but there doesn't seem to be anything outstanding about it and there's more than enough good combat games out there already. Just for combat I would probably prefer Aether Gazer for example, not to mention PGR.
And then there's the TV system that people absolutely hated in the CBTs that I doubt they removed xD So in ZZZ's specific case it does just seem very... average I would almost say. It's a good game, but is it worth it to replace another gacha that you already love? Maybe not.
i'm not gonna say it's all hoyoverse fans but a lot of hoyoverse fans were this divisive when star rail came out and all 3 of these games are from the same company. i think a lot of these people that are like this before they have even played the game just have an unhealthy relationship with some of these games because they can't just enjoy a game for what it is itself instead they need every other game to be bad in comparison to the one they love. but if genshin or one of these games " fall off" they either just ran their course or the company didn't do enough to keep players interested. all of these games can exist at the same time
for me I love genshin but am always out of content so I tried playing star rail, didn’t like it, and now I’m trying zzz and hopefully will prefer a game with more button mashing and no afk gameplay but if I don’t like it then I’m reinstalling star rail again cause star rail at least has good story

I'm going to try ZZZ because it's free and the launch is always the best time to try a gacha game but as I see it, it's just HI3rd with furries and men (which is whatever to me, I don't dislike nor like it) and I don't really understand why they made a game with gameplay that's already the same as something they have unless they really want to add men to HI3rd but because the community backlash is so hard, they decided to make a new game just to do this LOL.

I really wish I had time to play these many games, I'm gonna check out ZZZ cause I've been following the game for over a year by now and I really like the aesthetic, the music, and the character designs, but honestly the only reason I'm logging in WuWa is to get pulls for Changli and her sword, I'll probably stop playing a bit after getting her cause the things I look for in a game just aren't there in this one, the story is lackluster and decent at best, the music has improved but it's still mid and the character designs are mostly boring to me, and the biggest one, the game runs like ass meanwhile I can play Genshin and HSR with their highest settings with no issue and I expect it'll be the same with ZZZ lol

I played in the ZZZ beta and the TVs were so annoying. It felt like I’m forced to play horrible mechanics to finally get into a 1 minute fight….
you should watch the livestream, theyve taken alot of it away and for some gamemodes they took it away completely. they have a different way of approaching things now, id recommend skimming through the livestream

I'm wondering abt the profile of these extreme gacha tribal pple. I thought they were younger pple that haven't played many games. Cos older experienced gamers wld know games don't last forever + games can change over time. If game doesn't deliver, jump ship/ shift gacha funds. So thought these tribal culture pple got attached strongly somehow to the game cos newer to gaming... + cos they attached it to their sense of self.

Though ZZZ seems more anticipated in CN and JP side vs EN. ZZZ seems to be aimed for younger gen style also. Think MHY game also pulled in many new players, made quality games v accessible on mobile, they havent tried many games before. Like when pple saw when TOF come out and rave about it to try counter Genshin... but so many older mmos from many years ago are so much better, kinda shows.

Your audience, even if you don't know, have a lot of Genshin haters inside, there are also Hoyo haters too, but since you played Star Rail, they were a minority. But now you are leaving Star Rail, so more and more Hoyo haters will end up in your audience, and they won't allow you to even play Z.Z.Z. or say something nice about it. It works the same logic but reverse for Hoyo streamers.
Anyway, recently, there are Hoyo haters invading Hoyo lamers communities trying to convince CCs to go for WuWa and pretend Hoyo games were never played by these CCs, and punish them if they mention them back for good.
This tribalism is also sustained by the fact that these games are not necessarily objectively good. Yappy dialogues, underdetailed scenarios, a grindy gameplay experience. The wuthering wave quests have been great so far but can i recommend this game to my friend who only plays actual buyable games? Probably not .
And in turn every time a new gatcha releases it is a case of "would i actually like to play another mid-good game". 50:50 players say "no" .
i will definitely will play zzz because I personally haven't been enjoying hsr recently (especially due to all the new characters being busted) and added that i personally dont like turn based combat the only reason i stuck around is for the character interactions and story. but like i feel like zzz is breath of fresh air especially for anyone either wanting to have a more casual and flashy combat experience or just wants something with a more mature vibe that is more vibrant than wuwa (no shade, i love wuwa, just meaning how a lot of characters use a lot of whites and blacks along side a main color)
zzz should had been co-op, we don't have any co-op sand box games single player sandbox games is playout make it co-op to play with friends... 2 player is fine

For me, personally, the whole "gacha tribalism"thing boils down to the negativite nature of gacha players and the beef between each community. Picture this: you're a genshin inpact player and you are surfing the internet. You come across this game called "wuthering waves" and you check out a video or two or a twitter post then check the comments on it. All of a sudden you're witnessing all this negativity of people dissing your "favourite" game like genshit, "this is a genshin killer", "genshin could never", etc, it gets on your nerves and you start to pick up fights and spread hatred towards the opposite community.Over time it starts to form a community within each game who are loyal to the game and disregard anything that's remotely similar. This happens alot and when a new gacha game come out, especially now since there are these giants like genshin, honkai, wuwa, the first thing people do is comparing and down playing this new game so that they can prove to themselves that their the best.
It's insufferable to be honest
Most gatcha gamers don’t have the benefit of being a streamer whose job is to play them, and get funded by their viewers when they do. So it’s literally a sunk cost that most streamers can’t imagine because very few play F2P, and can at least partially whale in every game they try because of their viewers donations. Most players have to actually invest their own limited money, so they can’t max out an account in a new gatcha every time one comes out.
