If I didn’t already have the Pro, I would’ve gotten this and saved some $$. Much more manageable form factor, and improved finger print scanner. Worth the trade off in my opinion.
Watching on big monitor or TV, one can really see the differences in these cameras. Very excellent review that other reviewers should learn from. Thanks.
I'm not a part of this megapixels war, I love the 12.2 megapixels than that 50 megapixels one. The 6A took everything except the night video and the zoom photos. Pixel 6A has better HDR, better color, better details and better selfie
Some of the telephoto shots are crops from the main sensor. 1:17 , 1:41 The tele lens cannot focus closer than about 3-4 feet and will switch to the main lens. I've taken enough pictures with this phone to see the quality difference. The pineapple is also way too close to get a tele shot.
Thanks for this comparison. The difference between the two is very minimal, depending on the background and lighting conditions. I have the Pixel 5 and will be waiting until the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro arrive in October 2023, when the OS and Security Updates end on the 5. Great pics of the family and your city.
I'd say the only read difference is with the overall image resolution and noise reduction you get with the pixel 6 Pro. You can't really spot those differnces is the images are posted to social media, but you can see it when looking at the origial file. Other than that, the Pixel 6a is a great option.
@@phandroid Thanks for the information. On RUclips, at 1080P on my laptop, the difference was very minimal. The Pixel 6a is a good option if you need a phone, now. Great channel, keep up the great work.
This is a perfect comparison I was waiting for. Too bad Google improved ultrawide on Pixel 6a :D otherwise it would really be a battle of computation power vs. limitation of hardware. BTW, the new ultrawide is not just wider, but more detailed as well. When I look at day samples, I can see less noise on wide samples and a tiny bit of more detail + different depth of field on some close-ups photos. I had Pixel 5 with the same wide sensor 6a has, but they do not feel as close as 6a to 6 Pro does. It really seems better SOC unlocked better image quality.
I noticed the P6 Pro struggled and was stuttering at frame 3:00 when panning. My P6 does the same when shooting 4K 30 fps. It actually seems to do better shooting 4K 60 fps until it gets hot 😕
How long does it usually take to get hot while shooting at 4k 60fps? I'm planning to go for P6. I'm from Redmi note 7 btw so it's really a huge upgrade for me.
@@seanespino8202 It's kind of hard to say. My video feature hasn't shut down (overheated) while shooting 4K60 since June of 2022 at an outdoor birthday party. I probably had less than 10 minutes of footage when it happened. Since then, I doubt any of my recorded clips have been longer than 3 minutes.
I really like your videos, but i really want to know if pixel 6 pro now in August is a rational purchase ( also considering the bugs many had ) because my old s9plus is gonna die soon enough and i want to get an android around 1000€. The important things for me are camera and battery life. Also do you think i would get a good trade in value with pixel 7 pro if i purchase the 6 pro now ? A response would be greatly appreciated
The 6Pro is better overall, but not by much. Definitely not 2x$ better. Without side to side comparison, you might not be able to tell which is which in most cases. Unless you appreciate having the latest cutting edge google camera, other factors should help you choose between the two (especially cost).
@Phandroid It's becoming harder and harder these days to distinguish the photo and video quality of the cheaper phones vs the more expensive ones. I got the #Pixel6Pro recently for *$449* ($699 *marked-down deal* minus $250 *older phone trade-in* ). That's really the most I pay for a device. I upgraded from the #Pixel4a5G which I love due to its size. But these days I needed something more premium.
@@tonys-photo-shop Yes the #Pixel6Pro was worth the upgrade, if you can get it for under $500. Better cameras. Better screen. 1440p. 120 hz refresh rate. Tensor chip is fast. mmWave capabilities. Wireless charging. Android 13. I don't use telephoto feature a lot, but it's good to have. The quality of the main and ultrawide has improved. Those last two are what I used the most when I had the 4a5G. The addition of OIS along with EIS has become helpful in capturing videos; something that the 4a5G lacks.
I really appreciate these Pixel vs reviews. I'm struggling to decide if I should just get pixel 6a, 6 or 6 Pro. I do like the telephoto, bit not sure if worth more than double the price here in Canada. 6a $599, 6 $799 and Or $1179 128gb or 6 pro $1309 256gb. I don't really care for curved edges, but if the cameras on Pro are better then would get that. No discounts here on 6a like in USA. Current phone OnePlus 8T 5G, 12gb and 256gb storage. Thanks
Peraonlly, I love the zoom camera and use it much more than I expected. It's great for sporting events, concerts, amd more. Just depends what your use case is.

Quality on the pro is better all around as expected. The one area in finding it to be the biggest upgrade is in depth of field, though. You can get some shaving bokeh from the main shooter (let alone the telephoto) on the pro. Not seeing that on the 6a
@@phandroid I have a google pixel 4a 5g and i thinking upgrading to pixel 6a to have a better cam. Do you think there is so much difference between them?
I'm considering selling my P7P 512GB and just picking up the 6a with my store credit. I can barely tell any reasonable difference between the shots. More than enough space included and I have unlimited photo back up with my T-Mobile plan anyway.

So which is best the 6a or the 6 pro?
the ultrawide on P6A is not wider, it is 0,6 vs 0,7 because the main camera on P6P vs P6A has wider field of view....

There is not much difference other than the telephoto lens and the natural dof one gets in closeup shots on 6 pro .. which is due to larger sensor.

QQQ: Does the 6a have different white balance algorithm than the 6 Pro? A lot of the 6 Pro's appear colder (blue) than 6a's.
Yes, because 50 mp sensors are a bit colder than the old Sony IMX363 sensor. And I do prefer the color science of Sony more. 😁😁
Since they are the same phone with the same chip, both look great. Can't go wrong with either phone
