You're right! He is such an artist! But i come to think... does he need it? What is the recognition after all? Like... mass media or something? I believe that he wouldn't be the great artist that he is being on the top of the charts... he is doing what he feels and composing with his heart. I have watched this every Christmas since 2013, when it was first broadcast. I am dreading the day it's taken off RUclips. I've even contacted the production company behind Letterman but they won't give me a copy. This is my Christmas gift to myself every year, and I never want it to change. First play of 2021 is tonight!

Glen's music is timelessly beautiful and he is as good live as in studio, which is really rare. What a beautiful soul + voice.
For myself , live to the audience ( eye to eye he's better than many oher's ) .
Glen Hansard is maybe the least appreciated artist of the total extra class. And it is only because he is obsessed with music and the humble, he does not need to do any extra promo. I saw him maybe 6 times or 7 live in the Czech republic, and he always plays with total commitment, whether playing for 300 listeners in the castle courtyard or for a full hall. He is a surreal artist!

AMEN! A most talented musician, more than most! The Irish “less is more” runs through their veins, versus the American MORE IS MORE!! I speak from experience having lived in both countries, and why Irish musicians regardless of celebrity choose to remain living in Ireland. Whilst in Ireland I bumped into Bono drinking at the pub, and Bob G hanging in Dublin on the street - twas just another day 🤷♀️

Mattress had the tags with his name on :S Bono keeps to himself but his daughters went to school with me (couple years older), so he'd be on campus for hockey matches and plays. Nice enough but... I mean take off the purple shades indoors mate ha. He's more LA than Ireland now.

Michael Jackson, Kim&Kanye, and remember Jay-Z and Beyonce went for a walk in the park with their new kid once, someone took 1 photo and let them alone. TMZ said it was because Ireland was so far behind we didn't know who they were.😂 Like, nah mate we just respect privacy. 😂😂

I stumbled across Glen Hansard after watching the movie Once. I only watched it because I LOVE movies about music or musicians. Fun Fact for novice Glen Hansard fans: Glen had a substantial part in the movie The Commitments from forever ago. He looks about 17 years old in it. And if you haven't seen that movie, what's wrong with you? It's so good! So Anyways, that movie turned me on to his music. I have and love all his stuff and then years later my wife and I went to the Broadway play titled appropriately enough, Once. It was AMAZING!!! Then a few years ago (probably 2015), I FINALLY had the chance to see him live in San Francisco. I've seen well over 100 concerts in my days and this live performance was my ALL TIME FAVORITE concert I've ever been to!! His passion, commitment, talent, and connection with the audience is truly one of a kind and absolutely genuine. I've been waiting for him to come back through anywhere within 500 miles of San Francisco and I will go... I'm serious. It was that entertaining. He was in Southern California last year but I had a vacation already booked and paid for. I was sorry I missed it. Come back to SF Glen.... And hurry!!!

One of the best concerts taped and online--ever!
Last year I had a pleasure to see Glen Hansard live and it was the best concert I’ve ever seen. He came to Poland with his band consists of guitars, piano, strings and winds instruments. Glen’s music is just like him - energetic and positive, that’s why I couldn’t stop myself from smiling during the entire show. He also played some songs full of magical folk sounds straight from his motherland - Irleand. But the most amazing thing that night was the connection between fans and artists such as moments of Glen’s little talk and singing together polish songs „Hej, sokoły” and „Płonie ognisko”. It was really unbelievable evening.
Glen, Damian Rice, Mundy...what a generation of songwriters! Ireland I love you.

About 25 years ago in clifden Galway it was a night of music with Glenn Hansard and friends , to this day I think that was the best concert ,he nearly blew the mic away with the volume of his voice

I was lucky enough to see Glen at the Capitol Theatre in 2018. Waited for hours to stand 2nd row and it was worth every minute of it. Best show ever.

My guess is that when you play that hard, you have to become a pro at handling that really quickly haha. If you watch closely he actually broke another one at the end of the same song. He does it pretty often!
He is wonderful. Saw him as the support act for Eddie Vedder in Australia in February.
We Irish love to sing and sing along, fortunately, some of us can actually sing like Glen!
Seen Glen 3 times and have no problem putting all three in my top 10 shows of all time.
BTW-- this is The Frames. at least two or three of these guys are long time members of Glen's band from Ireland. a shame they couldn't have been billed as "The Frames" since no one would know who that is. because they're one of the best bands of all time.
+Chris Altman Yeah, I was laughing at that. The only Frame missing is Colm. If you look at the Swell Season's live videos, it's even more obvious--it's the full Frame lineup + Marketa. Glen said once "Outside the US, we tour as the Frames, inside the US we tour as the Swell Season. Same band."

As the frames i believe they are stuck in one music gender, alternative rock. But as Glen's band, they have much more freedom to create and play
Saw "ONCE", rushed out to buy soundtrack. Saw Glen & Marketa live at a huge venue in Chicago, which of course Glen made you feel you were at an intimate night club. His latest solo album is superb, so heartfelt. He is truly our very best songwriter, singer, performer of our time!! With so much computer crap music, just take the time to listen to this extraordinary performance. I am NOT a star struck type person, but Glen is the only star I would LOVE to meet, just so I can thank him in person for the gifts he gives us. This is just PERFECT!!!
You would love Damien Rice too if you loved Glen.

this has to be one of the most spiritual things I've seen. saw him in Sydney this year and was moved for days. The energy him and his band channel is beyond words!!! :)
Couldn't agree more! He's a channell as I've not experienced in music. He has a love of the 'Holy', and LIVES IT more importantly through his humility and service to his craft, versus image!

My favourite concert, by anyone, ever. And I've seen Alison Krauss and Union Station, LIVE, in Bangor, Maine. This guy is amazing.
He should be up there with Springsteen. Loved Bruce all my life but Glen is up there. Love him.
Props to the entire strings and brass section; they've really accentuated Glen's voice and he really knew how to work them into each song.
Glen and his band played a live concert in my living room back in 2005 for my son and all his friends. There was a competition on an Irish station and the prize was a private concert with Glen in the winners living room and my son won the prize. The band turned up in two buses , got all their gear inside and started to play. We had about 50 inside inside with all doors open and another 30 to 40 outside with heads in windows etc. They played for 2 hours It was a fantastic evening . My husband or I barley knew who Glen was at the time. We still talk about it. How we kept it secret at the time I don't know but if the word got around our house would have been mobbed. It was never announced on the radio where the winner the winner lived

I got rid of my television years ago -- but finding this made me glad to know there are not such blind folk behind the scenes. Been following Glen's career since the Oscar win -- bought the movie Once the minute it came out -- it has since been passed on to a good friend and musician. Danny boy :)
